The XR is still using LCD technology. You're right, theoretically you should save some power on an OLED display if you're displaying a lot of black since it isn't back lit, but since the XR is the battery king, I think you're also right that in practice this is barely noticeable. On 2/5/19

Hi, Jose, Screen curtain is a part of Voiceover. It's used to darken the screen and give privacy. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't save battery life, because it doesn't disable the screen. I use the screen brightness setting, because it does improve battery life and works when Voiceover is off.
