Simple - legalize abortion through the 297th month.

Not really so much of a ban, but a typical governmental catch-up sort of thing.

Hate to break it to you, but I think Trojan already has a patent on that. Oh wait,
that would require stupid people to use them. Hmmm...the government mandated airbags
to protect people who don't use seat belts, maybe the NASA scientists could come up
with a self-deploying device. They seem to have some tax dollars to burn and they've
already conquered the challenge of a ball-point pen that writes in zero gravity...

Personally, I don't like #2 pencils. The graphite is not dense enough,
and the edges of the trail are fuzzy. I prefer HB lead in the 0.05 mm
size. The writing is good and dense, and the edges are sharp and clear.

For a long time, I was on a pencil kick. I found that I liked the Staedtler
Mars "lead holder" style. The leads are about 5" long and available in
every hardness. Had to carry around a special sharpener, but man, I loved
the weight and sharpness of the point. Of course, you could wear it down a
bit and shade things perfectly. I think I used a 2B or something. Been too
long.

I am not being picky, but it is 0.5 mm lead...that would be a very fine line to
cross:-) I actually prefer the 0.7 mm size pencils, as I have a muscle issue that
makes me break leads easily.

Re:[uuc] re: sway bars:
Don,
Yes, use your existing front bar attached to the //M3 links and
strut tubes. The E36 front bar R&Rs surprisingly easily and quickly.
Maybe give it the award for the 'best guided R&D' on a recent BMW.
The radius of the control arm mounted bars is one half inch shorter. I
measured the standard and the //M bar side by side. The //M bar has a 7
1/4" radius versus 6 3/4" for the standard bars. That makes the
standard bar an additional ~9% stiffer even at the same radius as the
//M. With the extra load this bar will put on the links, probably a
good idea to use the UUC links to connect it to the strut tubes.
First step after installing the thicker and shorter bar was to dial
out the added understeer by reducing the rear tire pressure. Lowering
mine 3psi seems to balance the car out after switching up to a 24mm
front bar, with your 25mm bar possibly 5 psi lower as a starting point.
I also tightened the rear Konis by 1/4 turn stiffer.
For the rear bar, keeping stock with the 500# springs would be
better than changing several items at once.
Good Luck,
Barry

And on a street car you can use studs plus closed end nuts like the 5455
seen here:

And note that they're less than a buck each.

What is it with this going on in ATL? One summer, my family was piled up in
the minivan headed to Florida from Indiana, and we decided to drive through
the night. We went through downtown ATL in the early morning (sun was just
coming up) and 2 sport bikes flew by us like we were sitting still. I was
only half awake (and probably 12 years old) but I can still see the video
clip in my head. It was downtown where there are lots of overpasses and
high concrete walls and it dips down then back up - so you can't see that
far ahead.

People who ride "donorcycles" like that are either incredibly ballsy or
incredibly stupid, probably both.

Reminds me of the time I was cruising home up I-85 in N.E. Metro Atlanta,
about 10:00 PM at night. Was in the fast lane, doing 85mph in my '02
Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (pre-bimmer days). Looked down to do something,
looked up, to see a 1.8T Passat bearing down on me at around 130 mph or so.

There was a minivan right next to me, so there was nowhere for me to go. I
hooked it in as close to him as I could w/o hitting him, and the VW went b/w
me and the concrete dividing wall. Luckily, there was enough emergency lane
left (HOV lane had just ended at Steve Reynolds Blvd) for him to go b/w us,
and not hit anything.

If I'd been alone, I'd have gone after him, I was so mad (stupid, I know,
but to do nothing is easier said than done). But I had my 1 yr. old
daughter and wife in the car... but boy was I MAD!

I'm as crazy as the next bimmer driver, and love (controlled) high speed
driving, but c'mon, there's a time and a place! If I'm ever in danger of
putting anyone else at risk, I back off and drive pretty normally...
luckily, it's 70-90 mph around here!
