Hi

Since your problem description is also vague and floaty I will do my best to
figure what you are talking about. A 325iT? There is the first mystery, I
did not think BMW made
an iT model. Also is this an E30 or an E36?. At any rate any BMW with high
mileage will need refreshing to feel good again especially in the
suspension. In my opinion the best shock and strut combo for a BMW is
Bilstein. I would go with Bilstein Heavy duty. If the car has high mileage
it is likely to need some additional items like.

1:) TieRods

2:) Strut Tower Bearings

3:) Motor Mounts.

4:) Control Arms and Control arm bushings.

5:) SwayBar endlinks.

Until then buy now and Saab later.

The E46 iT is a station wagon.

I believe the E46s' overboosted steering came in with the first 330/325
models in 2001. The earlier 328/323 models all had heavier steering.
Sometime in 2001 or maybe 2002 MY, 330/325 were retrofitted with heavier
steering, which some claim was still not as good as the original E46
steering. There is a TSB for retrofitting heavier steering if you have
one of the overboosted ones.

Speaking of the ol' V6 mistake, it was done verbally on this past Saturday by
none other than John Davis on MotorWeek while doing a short piece on the long
term test of the X3. They had the obligatory hood-up shot and he referred to
it as a V6.

I wouldn't put John in the 'People Who Nothing About BMW's' category however.

Has everyone sampled this "new to us" car show?

Man, is it FUNNY!

Looks like some of the same folks from "Top Gear" - who had that great
flog-the-E39-M5 video review.

In addition to the two hosts, they have other folks reviewing the cars
including my favorite - a "jeri curled" British guy that is just hilarious.
In reviewing the new 5 series he referred to the "bad bum" on the car and
talked about the humidity controlled a/c and heat system "prevents your mucous
membranes from drying out - in case you don't know what that means, it
keeps your snot from getting crusty".

They seem to be airing a "new" show each week, but ones I Tivo'd last week
seem to be a year or more old.

Well maybe, but this dealer places thousands of ads a year in the same
newspapers. This is the first I saw wtih "V6". No one said, gee, that
odd, I've never seen a dealer ad for a V6 BMW before. I guess I just
expect more because it is the dealer.

The Deutsches-Museum in Munich is fascinating. Allow a full day
there for anyone minimally tech-minded.

I stayed nearby at the Hotel Admiral. Four-star luxury hotel, good
location, great breakfast.

Quick question for ya'll:

The computer display under the speedo stopped
displaying text fed from the center computer on
my 1995 540i. However, it still displays various
errors as they occur.

ie. It shows "Key in ignition", "door open",
"lights on" but when I press on the stalk to
display the various center computer functions
(like "avg mpg" or "range" or "avg mph") I get
nothing.

Has anyone run across this before?

Thanks,
David Moore
