If you mean KDE failures on X11 beta 1, it's pretty likely that they
were caused by bugs of X11. More specifically, your comment reminds me
of a beta 1's bug related to color depth. KDE apps crashed on the 16
bit (thousands) color mode, whereas they run smoothly on the 24 bit
(millions) col

I've just finished building the kdebase 3.1 RC5 and related packages.
Good news: the performace is GREATLY improved, I would say. It comes
pretty close to the one of Linux version that runs on my ThinkPad.
Kudos to Benjamin Reed, and all other Fink developers contributed to
this nicety.
