Hi colleagues,

August brings two new Evergreen releases to the community: 3.5.1 and
3.4.4. Both releases include over 45 new bug fixes in Evergreen’s
administration, cataloging, circulation, feeds, public catalog, and
search functionality. 26 different individuals contributed to these
releases.

You can find information about the improvements included in these releases in:
  * the 3.5 release notes
 * the 3.4 release notes
and
 * the tabular release notes

You can download the new releases on the Evergreen Downloads page
(https://evergreen-ils.org/egdownloads/).

A special thanks to Galen Charlton, Chris Sharp, and Jason Stephenson

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Next Student Success Working Group meeting

2020-05-31 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Evergreeners,

The Student Success Working Group will be meeting on June 9th, as part
of the 2020 Online Evergreen Conference.

With the help of Christine Burns and Eva Cerninakova (thank you!), I
have started an agenda here:
https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=student_success_working_group:agenda_2020-06-09

Please feel very free to add agenda items, or let me know what you'd
like to add.

Student Success Working Group meetings are open to everybody, and have
a particular focus on libraries that serve students at the primary,
secondary, and post-secondary levels. In order to get the Zoom link
for this meeting, you will need to register for the Evergreen Online
Conference
(https://evergreen-ils.org/conference/2020-evergreen-international-online-conference/2020schedule/)
-- you'll want to do this anyway, because it's going to be a great
conference!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Where are booked items?

2020-01-17 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Diane,

The Manage Reservations screen is new as of Evergreen 3.4.

If you are on a previous version of Evergreen, I suspect the best option
would be to run a report. You would want a report of Booking Reservations
that includes the pickup_lib (Pickup Library) field, probably limited to
your specific booking resource (i.e. the Rug Doctor).

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Seeking funding partners: Single Sign-On for the Evergreen OPAC

2019-10-18 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi colleagues,

Linn-Benton Community College is seeking funding partners for an
exciting project: adding Single Sign On capabilities to the Evergreen
OPAC. This would allow patrons to automatically be logged in to the
Evergreen OPAC when also logged in to other SSO-enabled systems.

Here at LBCC, we're particularly excited because:
1) It will provide a smoother experience for users, who won't have to
go through a bunch of different log in screens for various campus
systems.
2) It will allow us to move away from generating really insecure
passwords on our patron accounts.

Note that this is different from the recent discussions of OpenAthens
functionality. This would be a general approach that would be
compatible with any SAML system.

If you are interested and might be able to secure some funds locally
for this project, please get in touch with me directly. We do have a
quote from Equinox, along with some functional specs that I'd be happy
to share.

Warm regards,

  -Jane

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Fwd: [WebAIM] Free webinar on getting the most from your accessibility review

Hi everyone,
The Paciello Group is hosting a free webinar presented by Ian Pouncey
on October 8 at 12pm ET. We hope you find it interesting!

Title: What Next? Making the Most of an Accessibility Review

Your website or application has undergone an accessibility review and
you’ve received the results. Maybe there are only a few things that
need to be changed. Maybe there are a lot of issues. But what do you
do next? How do you decide what to fix first and, perhaps more
importantly, how do you make sure that the same problems don’t
reoccur?

In this webinar you will learn how to identify the critical issues
that affect your site as well as the low-hanging fruit that will give
you the maximum improvement for the least effort. You’ll also learn
how to identify the right people to fix issues and what organizational
changes you might consider to improve the accessibility of your
website or application in the future.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Publisher in Evergreen Reports

2019-06-11 Thread Jane Sandberg
John Yorio at Equinox helped me track this down in our system. John found
out that the issue was that Evergreen uses the Library of Congress'
MARC->MODS 3.3 mapping, which only includes 260$b publishers. See
https://www.loc.gov/standards/mods/v3/mods-mapping-3-3.html#publication

I think a bug report would be a good idea.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] An Invitation: Evergreen Student Success Working Group

2019-04-03 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi colleagues,

The next meeting of the Evergreen Student Success Working Group will
take place *in-person* at the Evergreen International Conference in
Valley Forge, PA. There are also remote participation options, either
online (https://linnbenton.zoom.us/j/781656888) or by phone. It will
take place at 5am Pacific / 6am Mountain / 7am Central / 8am Eastern
on Thursday, April 25. We hope you can join us.

We will have limited time, so I want to spend it on a general
conversation about how to make Evergreen work better for School and
Academic Libraries. If there are other topics you'd like to discuss,
though, please add them to our agenda:

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] New test VM - Staff login

2019-03-22 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Charlotte,

If you open your browser console while attempting to log in, there are
some error messages having to do with websockets.

Jeff's instructions here might help you with your troubleshooting:
http://irc.evergreen-ils.org/evergreen/2018-08-21#i_373522

And maybe others who are more familiar with this error can chime in.

Hope this gets you started!

Hi Beth,

You will want to use Canonical values from this list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones

For Pacific Time, you would probably want to use America/Vancouver or
America/Los_Angeles
For Mountain, you would probably want America/Boise

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Test

2019-01-04 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Stuart,

Thanks for your interest! We won't have the specifications for a few
months, but we will be seeking funding partners to enable Single Sign-On in
the Evergreen OPAC using the SAML protocol. We think it will be really
useful for libraries that want to save patrons the hassle of keeping track
of yet more credentials and also have access to a SAML-compatible Single
Sign-On server.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] How to exclude the field 041 value from search by language

2018-09-18 Thread Jane Sandberg
Dear Eva,

Thanks for the question! Perhaps you already know this, but you can
now use Evergreen's boolean operators on the languages. So, if you
want to retrieve all your materials that contain English or German (or
both), but not Czech, you can use this search:

(item_lang(eng) || item_lang(ger)) -item_lang(cze)

Unfortunately, that syntax is not very friendly for students.

I believe you can turn off indexing of the 041$a (or other subfields)
in Server Administration > MARC Record Attributes.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Best practices for modifying OPAC CSS

2018-09-04 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

When modifying the OPAC CSS, there are multiple ways to do everything,
and I'd like to clarify what the best practices are. In particular,
I'd like your advice on which files make the most sense for which
types of changes.

Here are my observations:

* Developers make a lot of changes to opac/css/style.css.tt2, so the
fewer local changes you make to it, the easier it is to maintain your
changes

* Most of the messing with color should be in
opac/parts/css/colors.tt2, so that you can consistently change the
color of a whole bunch of elements.

* Perhaps messing with other pieces should be in
Open-ILS/web/css/skin/default/opac/ (installed in
/openils/var/web/css/skin/default/opac/) -- but it looks like a fair
number of changes get made to semiauto.css as well?

* If you want to take advantage of the colors defined in colors.tt2,
that is a case where you would want to make your changes to
opac/css/style.css.tt2, since the semiauto.css doesn't have access to
those.

* If you want to maintain a git repository of your OPAC
customizations, it's helpful to make your css changes to
opac/css/style.css.tt2, so you can just have that opac directory be
its own repository (like Sitka's here:
http://git.sitka.bclibraries.ca/gitweb/?p=sitka/custom-templates.git;a=tree)

Are those accurate? What advice would you give somebody trying to
make CSS changes to their OPAC?

BTW, the answers I get will be used to further develop the official
documentation (e.g.
http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/reorg/3.1/command_line_admin/_tpac_css_and_media_files.html),
and to help me out with a local project. :-)

Appreciatively,

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Reminder: Student Success Working Group

2018-08-10 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

Two notes related to this discussion:

1) I filed a bug in launchpad to represent the desire for a
standardized support script for patron loading and updating:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1786524
2) Based on Martha Driscoll's scripts, I made some modifications to
the example script in the documentation to allow for updating existing
patron records. The updated script should appear here next time the
docs are regenerated (within 24 hours):
http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/3.1/_creating_an_sql_script_for_importing_patrons.html

Looking forward to further discussion of this desired functionality.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Bookbags and record buckets: having my cake and eating it too?

2018-08-03 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

We have several bookbags that we use to keep track of books for a
particular assignment. We particularly like being able to direct
students to a link that includes a nice HTML display of all the books
in that bookbag.

We typically add books to those bookbags at the point they are
cataloged. However, the staff client doesn't make it easy for
catalogers to add to those bookbags at the point of cataloging. Since
the btype column in the container.biblio_record_entry_bucket table =
'bookbag', catalogers can't go to the bib record, click "Other
Actions", and use "Add to Bucket". Instead, they have to:
1) Note the TCN of the book they are cataloging
2) Look up the ID of the bookbag in a document and open it
3) Look up the book by TCN in the Record Bucket Query interface
4) Add the book to the bucket

It's really round-about! If I change the btype to 'staff_client',
then the catalogers can suddenly use "Other Actions" > "Add to Bucket"
from the catalog record. It's way easier, but it means that we can no
longer see the bookbags in our catalog at the URL
https://libcat.linnbenton.edu/eg/opac/results?bookbag=[bookbag_id_goes_here]

Does anybody have any suggestions about how we can have our cake (i.e.
get nice, public-facing HTML displays of bookbags) and eat it too
(i.e. a less onerous process for catalogers to add the books they are
cataloging to those bookbags)? Is there any particular reason that
non-bookbag record buckets can't have that nice HTML display in the
OPAC too?

Thanks,

  -Jane

I agree that a GUI batch loader would be very helpful. However,
several libraries need to batch load these patrons on a daily basis,
since students may start programs at various times throughout the
semester. So the nightly cron job script approach is pretty important
for these cases, and I think it would be nice if there were a more
standard way in Evergreen to do that particular approach.

I'm wondering if we might consider including a very general, flexible
patron batch import/update script in the support-scripts directory.

At our branch, there is one staff computer, and many staff members use
their Windows log ins to sign in to that particular computer.

Is there a way to enable hatch for all of them, and for certain hatch

to spend all that time messing with hatch when we know what

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Student Success Working Group

2018-06-01 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

I'm hoping to schedule a Student Success Working Group meeting for the
end of June/beginning of July. I realize that summer is a complicated
time for academic and school libraries, but I want to make sure we
keep up momentum from our very helpful discussion at the Evergreen
conference.

If you're able to join us this summer, please fill out this doodle
poll: https://doodle.com/poll/5wi4s7ku9k59fn79

The topics on my mind to discuss are bibiographic citation generation
and looking at the web client from a school library and academic
library lens. I'm also very happy to see us discuss other things as
well. Let me know if you have any ideas! :-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Bringing in price information from MARC Federated Search

2018-05-24 Thread Jane Sandberg
Our book vendor offers a Z39.50 search, which we can access through
the MARC Federated Search. They're even kind enough to put pricing
information into a 9XX field in the search results (see attached).
However, Evergreen doesn't use that pricing information in the line
item that it creates.

Is there a way to configure Evergreen to pull pricing info from a MARC
field when creating a line item from a MARC Federated Search? If not,
I can start a launchpad bug. :-)

Thanks!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Does your library have a videoconference license...

2018-05-01 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Shannon,

Yes, absolutely. It looks like there's a limit of 25 users for Google
Meets/Google Hangouts, so that seems like a good option when we know
that there will be no more than 25 people attending a meeting. Can
anybody start and record a Google Meet, or does it need to be somebody
with a Google Enterprise subscription?

Thanks for this suggestion!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Requirements document for a new view of Evergreen bookings module

I drafted some requirements for a new view of Evergreen bookings that
might be better suited for showing bookings of study rooms. I'm
interested in gathering feedback on the document; please feel free to
use the comment feature vigorously, add other views that might meet
your needs better, or email me directly with your questions. Here's
the document:

new views). :-)

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Open-ils-general Digest, Vol 140, Issue 9

2018-02-08 Thread Jane Sandberg
I like the sound of these changes. The more uniformity there is across
Evergreen's many different interfaces, the better.

If possible, though, it would be great for your new design to be more
accessibility-focused than the current patron search form is. That search
form does not have accessible form controls, which makes it less usable for
folks using screen readers or who have motor disabilities. More info here:

 Hi Sarah,
 Thank you for the feedback.

 I'm using a 20" horizontal monitor (about 10.5" tall x 18" wide) at
 1280 x 1024 resolution.
On the Z39.50 Query screen, I can see the query form, search buttons
and 7 rows of the search result
On the patron search screen, I can see the search form, search buttons
and 21 rows of the search result and when minimized I can see 28 rows
 before having to scroll.

I know scrolling largely depends on monitor size and resolution. The
library staff member who brought this up needs to use a bigger font for
vision and she finds on her resolution she has to scroll just to see/click
 the search button.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this issue reported and if
you think making the two interfaces more consistent would be beneficial.
 Thanks!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Student Success Working Group -- first meeting

Hi Evergreeners,

The first meeting of the Evergreen Student Success Working Group will
be at 11am Pacific / 12pm Mountain / 1pm Central / 2pm Eastern on
Friday, 16 February. I recognize that this time doesn't work for

IRC is not a totally familiar technology, so I thought we'd try
holding this meeting using Zoom, which is a video/audio conference
technology. Please let me know if you'd like to try this technology
out before the meeting.

To join from PC, Mac, Linux, iOS or Android:

  * Enter the meeting ID: 816 138 988

Finally, please share this meeting time with your colleagues who
support students in their work. I think that this group will be
particularly strong if we have participants from a diverse array of
libraries and viewpoints.

Looking forward to it,

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Student Success Working Group

2018-01-29 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

A few weeks ago, I sent out an email to gauge interest in a student
success working group within the Evergreen Community. There were
definitely some folks interested, enough that I think it would be
fruitful to meet up and see where our conversation leads.

If you are interested, please let me know when you are available:

If you know of some Evergreeners who serve/are students --
particularly in school or academic libraries -- please invite them to
participate as well. The more the merrier!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Are folks still interested in Evergreen for Academics?

2018-01-12 Thread Jane Sandberg
Your point is well taken, Ruth. I'm very grateful for your email.

I also wouldn't want to see a separate academic fork of Evergreen. I feel
very fortunate to work in a library that blends approaches that are
typically associated with both academic and public libraries. There are
many libraries that blend these approaches even further: tribal college
libraries that also serve as the public libraries *and* archives of their
communities jump to mind as really successful examples.

At the same time, there are many ways that Evergreen could better help our
Library bolster student success. I believe that there is value in
discussing these with other folks who share a student success lens.

I imagine that this group would convene discussions both by itself and with
the larger Evergreen community. I agree with Kathy; I don't see a need for
a separate email list at this time. I also suspect that this group would
find itself building coalitions not just with the public libraries that use
Evergreen, but also with the primary and secondary schools that use
Evergreen, the special libraries that use Evergreen, and with libraries
that don't fit into the way we historically categorize libraries here in
the United States.

I am very open to ideas about how to *not* reinforce the silo approach,
while still being able to have really in-depth, student-centered
discussion. For starters, how would folks feel about changing the group's
name to something like the Student Success Interest Group?

Thanks also to Jennifer, Kathy, Ron, and Jim for your interest and
contributions to this discussion. :-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Are folks still interested in Evergreen for Academics?

2018-01-11 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Evergreeners,

A while back, there was a great group of folks at academic
institutions who were discussing issues of interest to academic
libraries that use Evergreen (e.g. course reserves, cataloging and
display needs, workflows, integration with campus systems).

There's some documentation of this group here:
https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=evergreen_for_academics

Would folks be interested in seeing this group return? If so, what
sorts of activities and/or discussions do you think would be fruitful
for this group to engage in?

Thanks,

-Jane

But the one from the official Evergreen Web site did not:

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Hatch installer can't detect java

2018-01-03 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Evergreeners,

When I try to run the hatch installer on a Windows 7 machine, I get
the following error message: "Java not detected. Setup will now exit."

However, the JRE is totally installed, and no other program that
relies on java is complaining. When I run `java -version` in the
command prompt, I get the following output:

java version "1.8.0_151"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_151-b12)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.151-b12, mixed mode)

Any suggestions for what I should try next?

Thanks!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] look for LCSH MARC records

Very glad that it was helpful, Tina. One resource that I found
helpful during our own start-fresh process was this presentation by
Galen Charlton, Mary Jinglewski, and Chad Cluff:
https://evergreen-ils.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/eg16-CatalogingForester_reduce.pptx

Slide 41 has the command to get rid of all the authority records in
your system, when you're ready for that piece. :-)

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] look for LCSH MARC records

2017-11-02 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Tina,

We do the following:

* Use SQL queries to generate a list of headings in the catalog
* Use a script to pull all those headings from LOC into one huge MARC file
* Upload that MARC file into Evergreen

Here's the script we use; improvements are very welcome:
https://github.com/sandbergja/dlc_authority_fetcher

And this blog post includes the SQL queries that we use to generate
those heading lists in the first place:
http://sandbergja.github.io/systems/2017/07/19/authority-control-in-eg

It's not a perfect process, but it is free (our favorite price). :-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] MARC Batch Edit questions

2017-09-21 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

I'm trying to improve my understanding of the MARC Batch Edit tool,
and also get some more details into the official documentation. I'd
appreciate any help you can provide.

In Add mode:
* Do the MARC Tag and Subfield fields need to be filled out if the
MARC Data field is filled out?
* What happens if the subfields listed in the Subfield field don't
match the subfields listed in the MARC Data field?
* Is there a way to add subfields to existing fields, or can you only
add new fields?

In Replace mode:
* Is there a way to capture a group of characters from a regular
expression and then use it in the MARC Data field? Or any other way
to replace values based on what values are already there in one fell
swoop?

Thanks,

   -Jane

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Seeking funding partners to improve access to bilingual/multilingual materials

2017-08-25 Thread Jane Sandberg
Dear Evergreeners,

Linn-Benton Community College is seeking funding partners to improve
the way Evergreen handles bilingual/multilingual materials. Equinox
has prepared a quote for us to fix the issue, and we would like to
know if you'd be willing to help us fund this work.

The problem is that Evergreen assumes that each book is in one (and
only one) language. Currently, for example, our library cannot use
Evergreen to search for bilingual Spanish/English books, as Evergreen
has declared each one to be either English-only or Spanish-only.
Equinox's proposal blows up this 1-language limit, so that patrons and
staff can successfully find those materials.

If you're interested in more details, let me know!

Thanks for considering,

-Jane

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Reorganized documentation: proof of concept

2017-08-15 Thread Jane Sandberg
Dear Evergreeners,

Jillianne Presley and I have put together a proof of concept for a new
direction for Evergreen's documentation, and DIG would really
appreciate your input.

Rather than the current documentation, which tries to be many things
to many people, the reorganized documentation is separated into
separate manuals, each with its own audience (e.g. catalogers,
front-line circ folks, sysadmins). The hope is that this organization
will help get the right content to the right people, and help DIG keep
tabs on documentation gaps.

You can find the new manuals in the bottom half of this page:
http://docs-testing.evergreen-ils.org/

Keep in mind that -- in this proof-of-concept iteration -- there are
some pieces of documentation that are in the wrong manual. However,
we hope that it is close enough that you'd be able to tell us:

a) if you think that reorganized documentation would be a valuable
thing for this community to have.

b) if the current breakdowns of manuals would make sense for your library.

c) other feedback on this project.

Again, that link is http://docs-testing.evergreen-ils.org/

Thanks very much for your help,

   -Jane

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Browser history settings when using the Web client?

2017-08-14 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi colleagues,

A co-worker here noticed that -- after using the Web client -- looking
at the browser's history gives a very good indication of exactly which
patrons have been helped recently. In particular, we had in mind the
following scenario:

1) Patron A holds some animus against Patron B.
2) Staff member C checks out a book for Patron B.
3) Staff member C is called away from the desk.
4) Patron A presses the back button on staff member C's computer, and
is able to learn Patron A's name and confidential information.

Of course, somebody with malicious intent would probably be able to
find those personal details anyway if they had access to a logged-in
Web client. We are worried, though, that this might make it just a
little easier for those personal data to be compromised.

How are other libraries handling this? Are any folks using private
browsing/incognito mode or other browser features to safeguard those
data just a bit more?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts,

Thanks,

  -Jane

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Notifying faculty about new books in their discipline

2017-05-26 Thread Jane Sandberg
It could, theoretically. Its flaw right now, though, is that the
process of adding/removing email recipients is pretty manual and
tedious. Perhaps somebody else who is familiar with Python could take
my code as a starting place, and build an interface that made it
simple to manage hundreds of patrons efficiently.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Notifying faculty about new books in their discipline

2017-05-26 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi Evergreeners,

Our Library sends monthly emails to our faculty that feature recently
acquired books that might be of interest to them. This is a nice,
automated process that pulls data from Evergreen and then uses call
number ranges that we've defined to match books with departments. The
emails include cover images and links to place holds, and we're pretty
proud of this system.

We've got our code up on GitHub: https://github.com/sandbergja/faculty_notifier

I'm very happy to share more details if you're interested.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] What does the "Holds Expire Alert Interval" library setting do?

2017-05-03 Thread Jane Sandberg
I'm cleaning up various weird values in our Library Settings, and this one
puzzles me. Is it somehow useful when working with "Your hold is about to
expire" notifications through the Action Triggers functionality? Or is it
something special on its own?

Thanks for your help!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Bill referral in Evergreen 3.0?

2017-04-23 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

I noticed the following item in the 3.0 roadmap: "Bill referral (e.g.,
to campus bursar)"

This sounds like something that would be very useful to us. I do have
a few questions for whomever is working on that feature.
Specifically, would this be a regularly recurring process or a manual
one? And how would evergreen send the bill to the appropriate office?

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing this feature come together!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] z39.50 character set negotiation?

2017-03-21 Thread Jane Sandberg
Hi all,

OCLC made updates to its z39.50 service on Sunday, and since then,
it's been sending badly encoded characters like nobody's business.
I've been able to find out how to get uncorrupted characters in
yaz-client, but I don't know how to get Evergreen to do the extra
utf-8-setting step detailed below.

Example one: just regular old searching (doesn't work)

$ yaz-client zcat.oclc.org:210/OLUCWorldCat
Z> authentication user/pass
Z> init
Z> find 9786070131356
Z> show 1

100 1 $a Plans, Juan Jose, $e compiler.
245 10 $a Los mejores relatos de terror llevados al cine / $c
seleccion, prologo y notas de Juan Jose Plans.
250$a Segunda edicion
264 1 $a Mexico, D. F. : $b loqueleo, $c 2016.

Example two: specifying utf-8 (which does work)

$ yaz-client zcat.oclc.org:210/OLUCWorldCat
Z> charset utf-8
Z> authentication user/pass
Z> init
Z> find 9786070131356
Z> show 1

100 1 $a Plans, Juan José, $e compiler.
245 10 $a Los mejores relatos de terror llevados al cine / $c
selección, prólogo y notas de Juan José Plans.
250$a Segunda edición
264 1 $a México, D. F. : $b loqueleo, $c 2016.

Is there an Evergreen setting somewhere that would specify a charset
and fix this problem?

Thanks!

Our trouble is that we do include other 6XX fields with 2nd indicator
7 that we'd still want to display, so I think we'll just be content to
take out the FAST ones for now.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] FAST/searchFAST Subject Headings (Cataloging Type Question)

2017-03-15 Thread Jane Sandberg
We have been taking them out of our records. Terry Reese's MarcEdit
program can generate FAST headings, so if we ever need them for
anything, we can export our bib records, work some MarcEdit magic on
them, and re-import them.

Sarah, I'd be really curious how you were able to hide them from the
OPAC view, if you'd be willing to share!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Launchpad translations: "This translation is not open for changes."

2017-02-01 Thread Jane Sandberg

Hi Eva,

Thanks for your help! I was looking at the tpac translations (Series
master) in Russian and Chinese (Traditional).

For example, I get the "No translation group has been assigned. This
translation is not open for changes." message at both of these links:

*
https://translations.launchpad.net/evergreen/master/+pots/tpac/ru/3/+translate
*
https://translations.launchpad.net/evergreen/master/+pots/tpac/zh_TW/4/+translate

Thanks again!

Hi Jane,

Which translation did you used?
You should be able to see and edit Evergreen translations as it has the
"open" permission (which means that anyone can submit translations
directly to the project in Launchpad).

Hi all,

I was checking out the translations interface on launchpad, and I kept
running into the message

Do I need specific permissions or group membership to be able to
contribute?

    Thanks for your help!

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Still seeking a Documentation Interest Group Facilitator

2017-01-14 Thread Jane Sandberg
Dear Evergreen community,

We are seeking volunteers for the position of Documentation Interest
Group (DIG) Facilitator. The DIG Facilitator has the following roles:

* Provide update for DIG activities at Evergreen community meetings
and other community events.
* Facilitate discussion on DIG email list.
* Facilitate DIG meetings (currently held online over IRC).
* Coordinate training for DIG members.

In the past, we've had co-facilitators who have split these tasks, and
also systems in which a single facilitator does all of these
activities.

If you'd like more information, you can reply to the Evergreen
Documentation list (open-ils-documentat...@list.georgialibraries.org).
You may also email me directly, and I will find somebody who can
answer your questions.

If you'd like to volunteer, please reply to the documentation list
(open-ils-documentat...@list.georgialibraries.org) with a brief
statement of why you're interested in helping the DIG in this way.

Note that we will be discussing this position at our meeting at 12pm
Pacific / 3pm Eastern on Thursday 1/19. If you'd like to join us on
the #evergreen IRC channel, you'd be more than welcome.

Thanks for your consideration!

   -Jane
