Hi all,
great job creating Darktable. I really like the ability to localise
adjustments using masks. I like the way the gradient, ellipse and circle shapes
can be created, modified and previewed. However, the brush is a bit
disappointing and leaves room for improvement. I would like the

When you choose drawn mask there is a drop down menu labeled “no mask used” to

The developers of both Darktable and Rawtherapee do such a great job. I would

Tried to replicate Terry Duell's problem with Windows 10. If DT was closed DT

Hi,
I would like to share some of the notes I have put together for using
Filmic. Filmic V4 is very easy to use. Avoid making it unnecessarily
complicated. I rarely use the highlights reconstruction as bleaching
highlights should be avoided in the camera in the first place. I love
Filmic V4
Recently I was teaching a group of students to use DT 3.0. We opened the
same image using base curve to get the initial starting point, we then
opened the image with no base curve and just did our own tone curve, and
finally we used Filmic V4 and adjusted the white and black exposure
sliders.
Hi Peter,
Jan's solution of creating a style would work. Another solution would be
to set the preferences for "Scene referred" processing and in the duplicate
manager of lighttable create a 'virgin copy'. You can then delete the base
curve version if it is no longer needed. Keep in mind
Hi Matt,
I was having a few images come up too dark but having uncheck the
"compensate camera exposure" box gives Filmic a more expected behaviour. I am
not sure why that option even exists as I expect that if I use EV comp on the
camera, I want EV comp applied not removed.
Thanks for

Hi, I am using the negadoctor module to process scanned negatives from my
Epson V850 pro scanner. It is doing a much better job than the Epson
software because it retains far more highlight details. However, one
strange behaviour I get from it is when I change scan exposure bias in the
film
for this
module to my new preset?

DNG files can be treated like a RAW file. Some cameras, like Pentax even
offer it as a RAW file format instead of PEF. Therefore much better than
Tiff file. Especially with adjustments such as white balance. Of course
when we can do CR3 files in darktable that would be better than Tiff or
DNG.
