seem to recall ordering a $3 "standard" computer type crystal out of
mouser/digikey for use in a 2B as I recall, and it worked FB. HC6 or

Yes, There's a bayonet base bulb in there (#47?). Same as the VFO dial
type... you'll probably want to replace the blue filter at the same time.
on the Smeter, there's usually enough room to turn the old faded one around
