It seems that texi2pdf is in the new texinfo, and the old tetex.
I tried another update-all and got the same failure.
I was able to get over this by doing a fink update tetex
tetex-base, and once that finished a fink update-all was
successful.

Thanks for the links - there is a lot of good
stuff at the web.brandeis.edu site.
The remote computer I am trying to connect to
is a Linux box at the place that hosts
work properly. YMMV.

Use screen
I use screen quite a bit, as it puts the fink install stuff in the
background, rather than having it continually update a Terminal
window. I can also
after you detach the screen session, so I usually leave it running.
Activity Monitor seems to show that Terminal uses less than 0.5% CPU
just sitting there.

Read honest candid
I selfupdated fink this morning, and found 4 python 2.4.1 packages
needed updating. The update-all failed with:
checking for gettimeofday... yes
checking for major... yes
checking for getaddrinfo... yes
checking getaddrinfo bug... buggy
Fatal: You must get working getaddrinfo() function.

Thanks to the Todai Fink Team for packaging OpenOffice. I have been
hoping this would happen for many months.
