I'm looking at it from a programmer's standpoint. It would be easy.

Interesting thought, but you have to look at this from a programmer's
standpoint. How difficult would something like that be to program?

Hi Philip,

I agree that having the boss level as a smaller space makes for a more
full on fight, but just had an thought about something to make it even
more interesting.

Imagine if every 30 seconds or perhaps every minute, that pit was to
move somewhere else on the map? Perhaps there could be a low rumbling
muddy squishing kind of noise when it happens as if it's some sort of
minor earth quake or land slide that makes the map change. I've found
the boss easier than I expected too so far because it's quite tempting
to fall into a rhythm when you're fighting him, especially if you
happen to have rocks left. Changing the map around every now and then
would force lazy people like me to have to keep reevaluating our
strategy.

Just an idea...

When I sit and play Entombed 1.4 and I save several times, so it takes
longer for the game to store and retrieve. What can you do to get the game
to save faster?

[Audyssey] q9 podcast

2009-11-24 Thread shaun everiss
Hi.
I was attempting to make a podcast of me doing in q9.
I can't make it passed deathworld.
the demons are real fun.
I have managed with a couple lives lost to get through mountain world but no
luck on death.
So I cheated to get it all done however I really have no idea what to do.
I used all my shields and slingshots because I kept dieing and my amo kept
getting lower and lower.
I had a small measure of success if I jumped whilst attacking a monster.
however the rhino could not always be jumped as I was attacking a monster or 2.
I may try the survival mode which I did howeverI misstepped and fell off a
cliff.

[Audyssey] Buying game time for the holidays

2009-11-24 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Folks,
I just revised my price list of commercial accessible games.
I don't include on-line games with a monthly fee, as they are priced
differently.

You can download most of these games and after purchase many of them require
you to get a registration key to unlock features and levels.

You can also download, purchase, and burn a holiday gift to any CD or DVD
and just slide that disc into a holiday card for someone else.
Then hear the sound of joy as they play their new game and I bet they'll
start smiling right then and there.
If anyone has a game to ad or a price to correct please contact Phil Vlasak,

Hi again,

Q9 is not giving up, here he is again with yet another update which is soon
to hit the Internet.

Here's the change log at this point:

Version 1.1:
Added: Teleporting mini Demons to the death world.
Added: The boss can now teleport.
Added: A special survival mode.
Fixed: Some spoken numbers should no longer be skipped from time to time.
Fixed: Significant performance improvements.
Fixed: There are now slightly fewer wolves in the death world.
Fixed: Now boars and rhinos hit other enemies a little more often.
Fixed: Enemies now step on fortune fields a little less frequently.
Fixed: The sound of the fourth weapon has been lowered slightly.
Fixed: Pressing alt+f4 during a death sequence to avoid saving the lost life
no longer works.
Fixed: The manual now has headings.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards,

[Audyssey] Q9 version 1.1 released!

2009-11-24 Thread Philip Bennefall
Hi all,

I'm happy to announce the release of version 1.1 of the Q9 Action Game! You may
get it at www.blastbay.com.

Please note that saved games from older releases are not compatible with
version 1.1, however all the registration data for existing customers will
remain intact.

The change log is provided in the manual for those who are curious.

This is the last update that I will be releasing for quite a while, unless some
serious bugs are found. Score posting will be added but I cannot say exactly
when.

Enjoy, and give my greetings to the mini demons.

Kind regards,

Philip Bennefall

Hi guys,

The reason for there being so many bonus items in the level and for the
boss

trying to destroy them is simply to add some variation to it. He'd be very

Hi again,

Q9 is not giving up, here he is again with yet another update which is
soon

to hit the Internet.

Fixed: Pressing alt+f4 during a death sequence to avoid saving the lost
life

no longer works.
Fixed: The manual now has headings.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards,

Re: [Audyssey] Q9 version 1.1 upcoming change log

2009-11-24 Thread Philip Bennefall

Hi Matheus,

The idea with that level is that it's meant to be a pretty small space, taht
makes the battle a little more intense as you can't just leap around
avoiding the boss forever, sooner or later he'll corner you or vise versa.
It just makes for a more interesting fight, I think.

Kind regards,

Hi guys,

The reason for there being so many bonus items in the level and for the boss
trying to destroy them is simply to add some variation to it. He'd be very
dull if he didn't take some risks. He should be a bit more dynamic now also
with the teleportation added.

Hi Philip

Indeed wow! I'm almost looking forward to getting to the death world
now, almost, but not quite, sinse teleporting enemies sound like a
nightmare!

Anyway 'll be interested to check it out.

As regards matheus' suggestions, I fully agree about the extra pits,
but not about the removal of bonus items on the boss, sinse if (as will
probably happen during my current medium mode game), I get there with litle
or no specials, I might have to just run around grabbing things so i've got
the where with all to fight the boss.

Beware thee grue!

Re: [Audyssey] Q9 version 1.1 upcoming change log

2009-11-24 Thread Scott Chesworth
I'd just like to object to anything as cool as teleporting enemies
being added, on the grounds that it'll inevitably mean I have to
complete the game again lol.

On a more serious note, all sounds good to me. I haven't been
following the other threads as closely as usual so not sure if a
verdict has already been reached on this, but I'm still missing the
ability to either bash an enemy off the edge of a pit if we're
fighting close enough, or as is quite likely to get knocked down there
myself.

Re: [Audyssey] the shields of q9

2009-11-24 Thread Scott Chesworth
Yup what Dark said, as well as figuring out how to use jumping to your
advantage. Evading attacks from some creatures with jumps and using
them to get yourself either right into the thick of a big group or in
some cases back out again will go a long way toward your energy
lasting longer. As well as timing the use of them right, make sure
you're as offensive as possible when you've got a shield activated so
you're using them to their full potential.

Matheus is right. The key to winning in Q9 is knowing the precise range of
weapons, so that you can start swinging or shooting when the enemy is far
enough away from you for you to attack it, but it not be able to get
you.

I certainly approve of a game which requires this level of practice, i
found getting through on easy to be relatively streight forward, it
only took me a few serious tries, but I don't sexpect the other difficulties
will be anything like that.

survival mode. hmm, can you add this suggestion to the boss? make the
level larger, with more pits, and when a bonus item is close to you and
you are with the shield activated, he won't come to pick the bonus item.
or simple remove completely the bonus items from the boss level, i don't
know what's easyer to do.
thanks..

Philip Bennefall

Re: [Audyssey] the shields of q9

2009-11-24 Thread matheus
hmm, i don't think that the possibility of buying ammo or shields is
good, it whould make the game much easyer. the way it is now it's
challenging and fun in my opinion. just keep trying, eventualy you will
be able to know when the enemies are coming to attack you, and they stop
for a certain period of time, so just go and kill then.

Re: [Audyssey] Q9 version 1.1 upcoming change log

2009-11-24 Thread dark

Hi Philip

Dark.

It did not help either. I think it is when you get further down that it
takes a minute for the game to save

how have you found the patch? when there is no link to it

Re: [Audyssey] Smuggler 4 - Blaring Music

2009-11-24 Thread dark

You need to use your screen reader's virtual curser.

this is the dolphin curser in Hal, the jaws curser in jaws, and I believe
the window eyes curser in window eyes.

Using this, you can read the starting page with it's text and click on
buttons just as if it were a web page.

You'll need to enter the options menue anyway, just to begin the game.

If the music is so loud that you can't here your screen reader over it, try
quitting in a non standard way, like shutting the program down via the
task manager.

In smugglers 3, and I believe in 4 as well, this should activate a mode
where it starts without the music.

Certainly, just click on "musiC" in the options screen to have the
score stop.

As compared to smugglers 3, I've found the S4 score okay with Hal's voice
volume wise, but obviously it is something that can vary a lot,
and I have sometimes turned the music off after playing for a while sinse
it can be a trifle monotinous.

I seem to remember reading something here abouta web-based RPG called "Land

despise,I'd like to give it a try. Can anyone here supply the URL? A

If you listen to the shield sound, you can approximate when the shield will be
running out fairly accurately, and get ready to activate another. Also, the
shields last about 20 seconds if you have a good sense of timing.

I like the shields, but the problem I find with them is that they run out
unexpectedly and I find myself being attacked. If we had a 3 second warning
or something before the shield ran out and if we could activate another
shield in that time it would be awesome. main problem here is we have to
wait for the shield to run out before activating another.

directly to the boss, and he's easy compared to the death world level

difficulty without codes and finish the game.

Agreed, the game in general on higher difficulties is certainly harder as it
should be, - the question is, does the boss reflect the difficulty?

hey philip.
maybe the boss in q9 should be harder. i mean, it's not easy, but
compared with the deathworld, it's a piece of cake. maybe you should
make the level larger with more pits to jump, and make it so wen you are
with the shield, and a bonus item appears, i don't think that he should
move to it, since you can hit him a lot of times.
i know that all the rest of the game is really hard, but the boss
shouldn't be easy. last time i tried to kill him, i used a cheat only to
go to his level in the insane difficult, and with the 2 shields / 50
rocks i killed

him with 50% of my life.
that's just a suggestion.

Re: [Audyssey] the boss battle in q9

2009-11-24 Thread dark

i agree.

I love bosses, actually I'm a litle sorry there aren't more of them in
Q9, and imho he's far too easy, you can just rock him to death pretty
much on any difficulty, and as Matheus said, the single pit doesn't
make things that much more difficult.

One symple way of raising his difficulty would be to give him some backup.
Afterall, if the fellow can create his own world, it stands to reason
he could create some nasties to help him personally defeat Q9.

Again, just an idea.

Re: [Audyssey] q9

2009-11-24 Thread dark

Hi Sean.

I can only offer some general tips.

firstly, bats can only attack you in the air, so if you've got a lot of
grounded enemies like wolves and leperds to deal with, do those first.
Moving back and forth is often a very good idea when being attacked from two
sides.

Close either forward or back with one group of enemies and deal with them,
before turning to deal with the other.

Also, save your rocks for bears, sinse they're generally slow and take a lot
of damage, though on the death world they seem to get a lot faster, so
you might need to back up a step or two before pelting them with rocks.

Likewise, you should only use shields when absolutely necessary, ie,
when surrounded by a very close group of many enemies (bears included), on
both sides.

For some reason, when I completed the game on easy yesterday, I also found
level 2 of the death world quite a bit harder than level 3, and lost I
believe 5 or 6 lives on it where as I completed the third level in a single
go, most odd!

Lastly, don't give up.

Btw, I'm not even sure if the game will accept cheats before it's been
completed or not, and you should be aware that completing the game with
cheats gives a correspondingly toned down ending.

hth.

Hi.

Firstly, to any Ce players, I'm back, sorry about the basnese, I
got a litle carried away with entombed, and some necessary work.

As Sander has been kind enough to fix the audiogames.net database, myself

I have several links of useful sites or resources for that page, such
as the plotter, but I don't have the subscribe address for the mailing list,
or the homepage if there is one.

If anyone knows anything about this, I'd be greatful.

Nope, just activate them and let them do their magic.

Usually I switch back to my club while the shield in in effect, then smack
the enemies around myself too so as to get through more quickly.

One thing I'm not clear on is how to use them. Do you activate them with
the space bar and face the enemies so they can attack and get their own
medicine back at them twice?, or do you still have to hit the space bar
each time you want to do damage. Thanks.
