[Audyssey] old things
Hi all. ok I started to get the old stuff for josh and others that may want it but ran into a small snag. That being a lot of the disks I have used for my stuff I have used quite a lot and these are now at least some of them are dammaged beyond repair. all is not lost. I have a cd with all these backed up I know I do, however not gona trall round looking for that. I know one of my friends has the entire archive. at least I think he does so if I find that I may be able to help you and others. sorry and all that but thats life. its a pitty I can't just make my broken 386 drive work for a few hours not worth it but I know there is a whole system loaded on there in good nic. lots of the games should be on ifarchive.org the pcs games should be at pcsgames.net the kitchens stuff is at kitchensinc.net not sure about the extra infocom stuff. if you go to ftp.3drealms.com look in their freeware you may find some others. unfortunately although thats most of what I have its not everything unfortunately. however cut your losses and run. its not likely I'm gona try to grab things. if people still want me to try I will but hmmm there will be things missing from the full package. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] old games
hmmm no at least I donn't think so. however due to some disks being dammaged the only way you will get any games at all is if I can source the games again. I think I know where one source is but not sure there is a perminant source but I can't be bothered looking through 5 cds just to find 200mb of files. I still found quest necros summoning quest monsters back though which sucks. At 02:05 p.m. 23/03/2010, you wrote: Nope, that's why I don't bother with Reincarnate. You never know what your character's going to come back as, except that he or she won't be whatever they started out as. As for Summong an enemy with the Necromancer's Summon BOnes spel, yes they do come back as allies on your team but you can't control them. And each Necromancer can only summon one at a time, so the only way to have more than one is either to have multiple Necromancers in your party and/or to use multiple Summon Bones scrolls. Re: [Audyssey] Entombed intelligence question
I mean magic weapons such as a crude copper shortsword of inteligence, which actually have magic boosts to your in on them, ditto with armour. As I said, it's only necessary to equip them, not to actually attack anything with them, thus you can have a caster holding two crude weapons with int boosts and always using spells never fighting with them, just having the weapons equippped in your characters' hands is enough to get the stat boosts. hth. Re: [Audyssey] DirectSound or XAudio
Hi Dark, Well, thanks to some advice given by Davy Kager I definitely think I'm going to give XAudio2 a try. He's been doing some experimentation and development with XAudio2, and from what he said XAudio2 really has some outstanding features. The one issue that really grabbed my attention was the way XAudio2 can perform pitch changes verses the way it is done in DirectSound. For example, in DirectSound if you try to increase the pitch of a car's engine sound from an idle up to a very fast speed like a speeding car, DirectSound will eventually start to distort the sound of the engine which is not cool. With XAudio2 you can change the pitch of the engine up 10 octives very rapidly and not get a lick of distortion. That's pretty impressive, and would resolve an issue I'm having with Raceway. Another issue David Greenwood and I were discussing on the developers list is how 3d audio is rendered on Windows Vista and Windows 7 verses Windows XP. When you play a game like Shades of Doom on Vista, for example, instead of a sound coming out of your left ear it gets positioned at a 45 degree angle off center. This obviously screws up the audio environment completely, and I think is do to the fact Windows Vista has a totally different sound mixer than XP, and no longer renders 3d audio positioning the same way as earlier releases of Windows at least with DirectSound. Neither of us are sure, but the solution with this problem may depend on going with XAudio2 instead of using DirectSound. After all, XAudio2 was specifically designed for Windows Vista and later in mind, and I'm certain Microsoft would have noticed this problem and tried to correct it with XAudio2. If so XAudio2 would be the smart choice since I am running Windows 7 here, and all of my games that have 3d audio environments using DirectSound are completely screwed up and aren't rendered properly. Since 3d FPS games are what Genesis is designed for anything that can correctly render 3d audio environments on Windows Vista and Windows 7 hands down is the most sensable choice. As far as my feelings about installing dependencies goes I agree if a customer isn't able to install required Windows updates that is tough luck. However, as the developer of said game it often falls upon me, through technical support services, to help them perform the updates , and I really would prefer not to have to hand hold new computer users through the installation of DirectX and other Windows components if I don't have to. Never-the-less as XAudio2 seams to be the better solution here I consider DirectX updates a necessity to take advantage of improved audio support. Plus as I've said before for users switching to Windows 7 XAudio2 could be the difference between a incorrectly rendered and a correctly rendered 3d audio environment which makes updating DirectX worth while. So thanks to some technical discussion on the developers list XAudio2 sounds like a better solution all around so far. Re: [Audyssey] DirectSound or XAudio
Hi Hayden, No. DirectShow natively supports a number of video and audio file types including: avi, mp3, mpg, wav, wma, and wmv. However, while it can support audio formats like mp3 and wma it is primarily used for video playback and rendering. For example, mainstream game developers might use DirectShow to play a special cutscene before the game action starts by loading and playing an mpg file containing a movie clip. On Windows Vista and later Windows operating systems DirectShow has officially been replaced by the Windows Media Framework, WMF, for performing audio/video playback. So DirectShow like various other former DirectX components are pretty much ancient history as far as Vista and Windows 7 are concerned. DirectShow is still supported via legacy support, but like a lot of other Windows components is on the way out, and are being replaced by newer and better components and technologies. I know it has been a very long time since our last issue, and truth is there hasn't been much to say over the last couple of months or so. Mostly we have been involved in rewriting the core of our Genesis engine which has been a massive undertaking. More about that later. However, we finally have some good news on the way. It looks like 2010 is going to be a more productive year for us, and we are finally going to start delivering some of the titles we promised. That is certainly some good news in deed. So without further comment let's get straight to the news. Genesis Engine As many of you may recall back in early December we decided to rewrite our game engine, Genesis 3D, from scratch in C++. The rewrite was suppose to resolve several ongoing issues with Mysteries of the Ancients such as: problems with newer 64 byt Windows platforms, improve system performance, resolve some bugs do to Managed DirectX itself, to simplify the installation of the game, and possibly create cross-platform versions for Mac and Linux. To a large degree our rewrite that attempts to meet all of these design goals was a success over all. However, during the course of development we discovered that supporting cross-platform versions of our engine and games isn't technically or financially feasible at this time. For one thing there really is no standardized way to program an application for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Each of these platforms have there own unique libraries, tool kits, etc we call APIs that are often as different from each other as the operating systems themselves. This obviously makes it difficult to write anything that can be compiled and run on another operating system without some degree of rewriting some part of your program to support the new platform. While there are game APIs specifically designed to help create cross-platform games such as OpenAL, SFML, SDL, etc these APIs don't meet the same standards of DirectX or XNA, and lack features I would otherwise get by using a more professional API like DirectX. To explain this situation better imagine writing a game such as Raceway where you want to support special game controllers such as a racing wheel with force feedback support. While SDL, SFML, and DirectX all have reasonable support for standard devices like mice and keyboards the same can't be said about specialized game controllers like racing wheels. SDL, for example, has very generic joystick support that often doesn't work at all on Linux and Mac, and has no support for specialized game controllers such as a racing wheel with force feedback ability. This obviously is somewhat of a disadvantage as I can't provide the same degree of features on Mac and Linux releases that I could on Windows releases. Another case in point is DirectSound verses something like OpenAL. OpenAL is a decent audio API for Mac, I can't argue that, but at the same time it lacks features I could get with DirectSound. One very simple example is a stereo pan control. In games like Mysteries of the Ancients the sounds only need to be panned left and right. This is a simple process with DirectSound as it has a function for this. With OpenAL it was designed with 3d audio support in mind and it lacks a basic pan control which is over kill for a game like Mysteries of the Ancients. So in other words with OpenAL I have to use the 3d audio processing weather I need it or not. This is hardly ideal for a side-scroller. There are plenty of

If the game did show that, and only that, it would be very boring. Actually, there are several needs bars, including hunger, bladder, social, fun, comfort, hygene, energy, and environment. Since there are many ways to fulfill the different bars at the same time, plus other goals such as careers, of which there are many default options, family goals, wants your sims have, ranging from wanting to eat a certain kind of food to wanting to be abducted by aliens, plus different options you get with expansion packs, adding things like opening a business, hobbies, going to college, etc, the sims, at least sims 2, is much much more complicated than that. Or rather, it is many times more complicated. Yes, part of the game is designing and defining esthetic characteristics surrounding your sims family's life, placement of furniture, appliances, colors of walls, pictures, etc. all such things have a baring on how well your sims function. I think the way you could best characterize the sims is not a pet or buddy that you interact with but a community of people which you directly control. It is highly entertaining, because of the random attributes you don't give them, as well as the attributes you set them up with at the start of the game. With six different personality characteristics and only thirty points to divy out, I believe, there are many combinations of personality profile, from the drably ordinary to the dangerously insane. the trouble with the game is this. It is, in fact, a very good game, worth playing, and highly expandable via a large community of modders and designers. It is also a game which the v.i. community would be extraordinarily hardpressed to play, with greater difficulty as sight level decreased. As I said, I only played it through the patient assistance of my wife, and also, a while before that, a good friend. I played using their games, in their sims neighborhoods. I would not feel it necessary to buy my own copy, just to ask someone else to play it with me. The trouble is, having looked at many possibilities, I can not find an interface that would allow a blind-accessible sims style game to be developed. The timescale of at least one minute per second in game means that snap decisions have to be made and executed. We simply don't have enough keys on the keyboard to make every option available that would fall under such categories. Furthermore, objects behave fairly realistically, with fairly realistic physics. Programming all of the objects, behaviors associated with those objects, and even just the tendencies of certain sim types to use those objects is the work of a company of programmers. Everyone, then, would have to work on this one project in one programming language and with one specific goal only. This is a game that I strongly wish we had, but the truth of the matter is that we don't have enough programmers to pull it off within anything approaching a reasonable timeframe. We don't have the technology needed to interface with such a game, at present, and we tend to summarily dismiss anything we can't play as not worth our time. I've met several people that just hated the sims, but when I told them about it, they decided that they'd love to play it, and it was too bad the interface was so complicated. [Audyssey] entombed joke.
Hi guys, This is a joke that we did with Hayden about entombed. ... ... ...what was that groan? Muhammed looked over as the spine chilling noise hit his ears, he was nearly knocked over as a burst of fire rose up. Then, in the cloud of fire...came Hayden! Two guardians, the elementals, and the reflections were at his back! The battle was furious! The clangs shook the Dungeon! But allass, Muhammed had no chance, and was severely beating as Hayden hit him with hayden says: Zonby rot straight to the face! The mighty party of Muhammed was defeated! hayden says: the Dungeon cried as Muhammed fell, the might hero laid low by the forces of Alessandria's once mighy kingdom muhammed says: Muhammed had 3 lives when he got killed. By Hayden, but he was extremely angry. He did a flurry on one of the gardians, and he took 'em out. Then, the 2 skellitons took out the reflections. Then, He got rid of the elementals. The dungion was the happyest in the kingdum! hayden says: alass, this was not meant to be. Hayden began to chant in resonating tones, his voice shaking the dungeon to its very foundations. Muhammed saw a spark... hayden says: Then came three crystals! The vangard to their mistress, who took out Muhammed's ca, his very essence to live muhammed says: A cobald triskter came out to help Muhammed, and he charmed that voice. hayden says: it's too late! Doyou know what a ca is? muhammed says: His party got back up and began getting the pest's off. Muhammed saw a clearing. He took a huge blow to the dungion, and it fell to its pride. hayden says: Hayden gave amight wail of furry! The very kingdom rose! The passages flooded! Hordes of etins, trolls, hobgoblins, goblins, and swarms of Dungeon animals came to his defense! Muhammed had no chance... hayden says: he could not go on, and surrender, allowing Hayden to insinerate his weapons hayden says: though I don't think you heard my earlier question, muhammed says: But Muhammed casted dragie on the guys! Suddenly, 9485 gobblin king's came, 1453 ogmok's came, 4564 drake's party came, 99 of the Lick's party came and Hayden's defence chances were bad and he got killed! hayden says: unfortunately for Muhammed, Hayden held is very soul hostage. He threatened to hirl it into the abyss, if Muhammed did not surrender muhammed says: I didn't. hayden says: Do you know what a Ca is? muhammed says: No. hayden says: In Egyption Mythology, the Ca was one of the parts of the soul, the other was the Ba. The Ba's function was simply to create the spark oflife in the soul. In other words, without one, you're simply one of the unjustified dead hayden says: oops that was the Ca'sfunction, mistyped muhammed says: See? hayden says: hmmm? hayden says: So Muhammed, do you have Ken's games? muhammed says: But the dungion exploded including Hayden but Muhammed's party escaped the dungion. Hayden cried for help, help, help! but the dungion fell to its last soll and Hayden got his head burnt. muhammed says: Yes. hayden says: yet Hayden did not need his head. In the dead of night, Hayden sneaked into Muhammed's city and murdered him as he slept muhammed says: But Muhammed played a trick on Hayden. Muhammed casted aspell, and Hayden's city got burnet. The king and the city cheared at him, and he was the kings men including his big party. hayden says: HHayden's city, however, was not the one Muhammed hadd burned. His city was far, far away, and seeing as Muhammed lay with his heart pierced by the Dark twin, Hayden's city prospered forever muhammed says: But the king was so strong, that he got rid of the hole kingdum. And the king's party escaped out in to a home. hayden says: huh? muhammed says: Ok, end of joke. muhammed says: I won. hayden says: what kingdom? hayden did not burn any kingdom muhammed says: I did. hayden says: he returned to his own kingdom with the new king of Muhammed's realm hostage, Thomas Ward! ha Contact info. email: muhamme...@googlemail.com msn: muhammed123...@hotmail.co.uk Skype: muhammed.deniz Klango username. muhammed --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] Time of Conflict
The maps range from 24 by 24 to 100 by 80. The smallest land-based map takes me about an hour to play, while a full sized sea and land campaign takes 30 to 40 hours. It all depends on what you are in the mood for. Of course, the amount of time it takes depends on how familiar you are with the game. The largest game I played lasted weeks and at the height of the game I had over 700 units--and who knows what the enemy had. Re: [Audyssey] USA Games News 3/18/2010
Hi Bryan, Actually, I'd say cross-platform development of games is more a matter of finding comprable cross-platform game programming APIs rather than how hard or easy it is. Oh, if I want to use SDL for cross-platform development then it is easy enough to create Mac, Linux, and Windows games, but you lose a good deal of features available in a pro game API like DirectX in the process. Something like SDL is for all intents and purposes a case of choosing the lowest common denominator verses platform specific tools and APIs that can give your game product truly outstanding performance and special features. Mac and Linux game APIs are a good generation behind what's available for the Windows platform that is a huge disadvantage for those platforms. There are commercial APIs such as FMOD Ex that closes the gap between Windows and Mac rather nicely, but then again it is a commercial third-party product. As I am all to aware there are licenses involved with something like FMOD that aren't really well suited for a small game studio like USA Games. It is expensive enough to license FMOD for one platform, but if you license it for multiple platforms the price goes up dramatically making it not financially feasable. There has to be a large enough Mac or Linux market out there for accessible games to make the use of FMOD and other commercial cross-platform APIs finantially viable alternatives to the free native APIs. So in the end you might have to settle on something decent like OpenAL that is good, but not particularly over the top. However, as the past couple of days has shown XAudio2 is emerging as a rather revolutionary and powerful API for Windows and the XBox. So I think as XAudio2 continues to be developed creating games with XAudio2 may offer me, the game developer, more advanced features and render some truly amazing audio environments. With something like OpenAL it will just offer me somewhat basic and rather generic audio support. In a feature by feature run down XAudio2 probably is the superior and more logical choice for future audio games. So cross-platform games, using cross-platform APIs, will only hold the games back from obtaining their maximum potential. At least that's how I see things currently. Now, I do know Draconis Entertainment is working on porting their games to Mac, but our situations are slightly different. Currently Draconis Entertainment's games such as Aliens in the Outback don't require a lot of high end features. For audio basically all they need to do is have some simple stereo panning and the ability to change the pitch of the starships as they land. Joystick support in Aliens in the Outback was always pretty generic so SDL probably could handle similar joystick support as the existing game now. Basically, what I am saying is Draconis can slide by on Mac's existing APIs because they aren't looking for or particularly need cutting edge audio and input support for a majority of their existing titles. However, I'm trying to create the next generation of audio games with highly professional 3d audio, support special game controllers, and basically pull out all the stops. Mac APIs don't really impress me, and aren't up to handling the kinds of games I want to begin creating in the next couple of years. For that reason cross-platform development isn't necessarily feasable in all cases. Cheers! On 3/20/10, Bryan Peterson bpeterson2...@cableone.net wrote: At least not right at first. [Audyssey] fighter evasion bug in toc
Hi. there's a miner issue with fighters and evading enemy which both I and someone else on the audiogames.net forum have noticed. When your told a fighter needs to head back to base to refuel and press the h key, if it's by an enemy city or unit you can't get it to move. if you press E your just told that the fighter needs to refuel, and if you press H your told there's an enemy near the fighter. The only way I've found around this is by manually moving a fighter away from an enemy with ctrl direction, then pressing H, but it does seem to be a miner problem, and potentially one which could cause fighter crashes. Beware the grue! dark. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Hi Jessica, Yeah, it does good. For an example if you carried a corp's of an ork, you could summan that if you're only a necro. Also, the druade could be helpful not to summan, but to get your guys back from dead. Not as a skelliton, a different creacher. Re: [Audyssey] Time of Conflict
A point of clarification. Version 1.0 of TOC will be out shortly, and other than the few bugs which have been reported, and getting ready on our end, there isn't much to do. Version 1.0 will be single-player. Version 1.1 or what ever it will be called will be multi-player. Re: [Audyssey] USA Games News 3/18/2010
I'm glad you're making progress. THough I voted for mac compatibility I'm glad to sacrifice it for a fun and enjoyablefinished product. Keep it up. James On 3/23/10, Thomas Ward thomasward1...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Bryan, Actually, I'd say cross-platform development of games is more a matter of finding comprable cross-platform game programming APIs rather than how hard or easy it is. Hi James, Thanks. I'm glad to have people see it from that point of view. Besides Mac users aren't totally left in the cold. They can run games if they are willing to run Windows side by side on their Mac system. As they have to do this anyway for a majority of accessible games I don't see this as a major imposition for Mac users. Less convenient perhaps, but is a workable solution. JAWS for Dos is freeware. Apparently a version of espeak has been ported to DOS. I read about it on a forum but don't have any further details nor have I followed it up with a google search. I played PCS' Shooting Range, Mobius Mountain and Fox and Hound when they came out in 1996 and 1997 (I was 7). Shooting range was especially fun. I was amused when my robotic smartalk synthesizer (think accent PC with less intonation) told me that I had hit the target in the crotch. Mobius was great with all the sound effects. I can send these to anyone who needs/wants them. I would also like to point out that besides jaws for dos, there's also provox which is a free screen reader for dos that works fairly well. Chuck Holenbeck was the author, but I have gotten permission to continue development on it, at least for purposes of making it part of the freedos distribution. I can send this to anyone who wants it as well. I'll post provox on softcon as soon as I get access to it again (ftp is currently broken) but you can probably do a search for provox65 and find it yourselves if interested. Re: [Audyssey] DirectSound or XAudio
Hi Shaun, Well, there is no way I know of to do it from the web site, but I know some setup/installers do allow you to do version matching/comparison. Microsoft's Advanced Setup Installer allows you to check for things such as .NET, specific DirectX versions, etc but Advanced Setup Installer isn't free. It costs a pretty penny to purchase, and needs to be upgraded from time to time to stay current with version releases. That's one reason I use free setup tools like Inno Setup instead. I think the best low cost alternative here is to install the free DirectX update wizard with the games. That way if the end user runs it all they need to do is download and install the components that need upgraded or installed. The wizard will figure out what needs to be done, and they can just sit back and relax while it does its job. This is a better solution than bundling a 300 MB setup file on the web site for DirectX. Re: [Audyssey] USA Games News 3/18/2010
I'd like to urge folks to keep in mind while discussing cross platform development tools that they're just that cross platform. Windows has it's native apis which are loads better than sdl, sfml, or any of the others mentioned here. I'd also like to point out that mac has core audio, and other apis that are the same way. Anyone using the native mac apis would get just as fully exposed to the features windows apis provide, but those programs would be mac only, just as direct x is windows only. But, the point is that mac does have it's own set of apis for doing things. The problem is that mac still has a long way to go on it's integrated development (called collectively the x tools) before they will be 100 percent accessible to those of us who use screen readers for our computer usage. That's not to say it can't be done, only that's considerably more difficult to use native mac apis with the apple provided development tools to make an equivalent game. However, it *can* be done, if you have some sighted assistance (which most of us do not) and a great deal of knowledge of how cocoa and objective C++ works. On the other hand, all the comments about cross platform game developing is quite correct. Give me some c++ code for a game like troopanum, and using sfml I could have a cross platform version available in a week or less. Give me a month or so, and some sighte help from someone who knows the apple developer tools, and I can provide you something like shades of doom, sara, or even toc, and you'd be blown away by it's richness of environment. Unfortunately, what's lacking here is the sighted help, and the knowledge of the cocoa environment, so I at least can't do this out of the box. (well, I could do the troopanum game, but not the other) If you want a sample of what apple can do with their apis, check out the dinosaur game that comes with any mac purchase. My kids love it, and it's definitely full of stereo sound effects, great video animations, and all sorts of eye candy for keeping the little ones entertained. However, this was produced by folks who knew the apple environment inside and out, so it's not really a fair comparison of what *we* can do, only what *can* be done. Hope this helps clarify a little bit. --- Gamers mailing list __ Gamers@audyssey.org If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to gamers-unsubscr...@audyssey.org. Re: [Audyssey] laptop test and notification
Hi Charles, Do this. Fix number 1. Reset your rooter if you tried to restart it, and it should fix it. Fix number 2. Reset your rooter fully. If it doesn't help restarting, this should work. Fix number 3. If you can, restart your computer. That should sometimes do the trick. fix number 4. Re connect. Re: [Audyssey] Time of Conflict problems
Hi people! I am definitely loving the game but unfortunately I am having problems! I noticed two problems: the first is that after some minutes of play, I loose all the background and feedback sounds from the game and I just can play with the window-eyes voice! And as well, when it happens, the game becomes incredibly slow! The second problem is the sapi: after some minutes of play, sapi voice simply disappiers! And the king's party escaped out in to a home. hayden says: huh? muhammed says: Ok, end of joke. muhammed says: I won. hayden says: what kingdom? hayden did not burn any kingdom muhammed says: I did. hayden says: he returned to his own kingdom with the new king of Muhammed's realm hostage, Thomas Ward! ha Contact info. email: muhamme...@googlemail.com msn:

Hi David, I'd love to have a keystroke to continue forward in Time. It's worth choosing it's a good day to die! just to keep things rolling...once, I almost didn't think that my units were able to move, until I remembered that I had to wait until time ran out for that current time unit. Version 1.0 of TOC will be out shortly, and other than the few bugs which have been reported, and getting ready on our end, there isn't much to do. Version 1.0 will be single-player. Version 1.1 or what ever it will be called will be multi-player. Anyone purchasing version 1.0 will automatically receive any upgrades, multi-user capabilities, or what ever is going for version 1.1. Unfortunately, I can't give a date for 1.1 other than to tell you we are working on it now and I have two computers playing each other with lots of bugs being logged. There is a FAQ on the Time of Conflict page that may answer some of the other questions that were passed on to me from the list. Hi, On the contrary...carring them around can be very useful. As an example, I first reanimated the corpse of the Royal Goblin Necromancer, while at the same time I had picked up the other corpses. Well eventually he was defeaeted, so I brought back the Goblin King. So, you may want to have a few corpses on hand, just in case your current skeleton dies. However, Brian is right in that you do not have to be carring a corpse to make a skeleton out of it. Re: [Audyssey] Time of Conflict
This is from the FAQ on the TOC web page: Q. I've done everything I want, but the game just sits there for five minutes or more before the next turn begins. What is happening? A. The computer won't make its move until either of the following is true: 1. You have run out of time for this turn, which is why it takes five minutes or more for the computer to move. 2. One or more of your units have moves left. You can finish your turn more quickly by moving or assigning an operator to every one of your units. If you do not want to move a unit this turn, press space on the unit. The turn will immediately end once every one of your units have been given its orders. So, let's guess between one month and six months. *grin* Regards, David Greenwood davidgreenw...@gmagames.com http://www.GMAGames.com - Original Message - From: dark d...@xgam.org To: Gamers Discussion list gamers@audyssey.org Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 10:47 AM Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Time of Conflict maps can range from about 24 x 24 to 72 x 90, and large maps mean long battles. I must say it's well worth playing. The game isn't beta in the sense of having bugs or anything, it's beta in the sense that many features which david intends for the full game aren't implemented yet, such as multiplayer support, but sinse you can have most interesting and successful games against the computer in single player, Davids' allowed us to essentially have an advanced look at the game, which isn't a bad thing at all. I'd certainlly recommend giving it a try. Beware the grue! How long usually does a whole game last from start to last man standing? I've been reading this with a lot of interest. Whilst I don't test beta's and all that from what I've read this really does look like a game that I'm going to get. -Original Message- From: gamers-boun...@audyssey.org [mailto:gamers-boun...@audyssey.org] On Behalf Of dark Sent: 21 March 2010 03:48 To: Gamers Discussion list Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Time of Conflict Hi. I noticed the update business was fixed, thanks. I had a couple of strategical questions, particularly related to how to protect ships when sailing, and how best to get infantry off a troop transport, sinse currently while I can defeat the computer on easy on land, as soon as more than one island is involved things get difficult. I'll check the second tutorial link though and see if that can give me some thoughts. It's nice actually to get another complex game which has a learning curve. Beware the grue! First, the second tutorial link has been fixed. Next. Hopefully, the download for Time of Conflict is fine now. It was a last minute change I made that caused the problem. There is a FAQ on the Time of Conflict page that may answer some of the other questions that were passed on to me from the list. Check these out, and if they are not answered there, I'll try to answer them here. Oh yes, I
