I just did a couple of minutes on the offline map with an earplug in
one ear as a sort of rudimentary simulation, and damn it's hard!
Raising the zombie footstep volume using J to increase and Shift-J to
decrease did help quite a bit, so definitely give that a go. Took me a
while to get used to
