I am not much of a programmer, but cant this be done by writing a script?
The measurement tool gives you pixels, and then let the script recalculate it
to what ever unit you want??

Almost the same thing! :)
It actually helps me now, as i edit and combine images.
I can look at a picture and break it down to major and minor components, and
thus into layers. VERY handy.

Hello list.
I have started to use RAW format in my photography lately.
I know of the dcraw and ufraw programs, and they work very nicely with GIMP.
I took a closer look at dcraw's command line syntax to see if i couldnt write
some automated conversion scripts.
dcraw has the option -4 to write
Trying to compile gimp-perl.
But it fails with:
