me. I just do not like having to hit ctrl+e when ctrl+s and then you
specify file type via extension was the default (and for many people, it
seems, preferred) behavior.

experience. GIMP queries for plugins at startup, I just upgraded to
2.8.6 but have yet to run it, though I'm expecting that normal behavior

Have you checked the time each frame is to show? Have you let the object
fully load? I know even on my laptop sometimes a really big animation
takes a while to load and it looks like it isn't a smooth animation.
