At the beginning of section 2.1, "Save all" is missing in the description of the
menu list for "File".
And the keyboard shortcut with "New from template..." is replaced by
"undefined". The reason is that Ctrl-Shift-N which pointed to
buffer-new-template with 2.3, now points to the new

One hint: instead of using \times in a formula one can directly insert
the times symbol via the menu Insert-> Spec
For single quotes you have to use the shortcut Control-".
I just rechecked LyX on debian.
On Linux the shortcut gives the result mentioned from de-UserGuide:
Alt-Shift-2.
On Mac it works with the one from English: Control-Shift-2.

A.7.4 about the Check TeX program, the line appears with my installation.

FYI, I have just committed small updates to the English and German version
of the User Guide and Tutorial that describe the new method of "dissolving"
an inset (which is the opposite of selecting some text and inserting an
inset, e.g. a footnote). The changes apply to both 1.4.3 and 1.5.

It was new for me that the USA don't use the ISO standard.
But I tried to reproduce your problem and printed the Userguide in
USletter format on A4 without any problems. And USletter is 6mm wider
than A4, so I wonder why you have such problems.
