They are a little spendy for a light bulb, but when I put them in my off the grid and solar powered motor home I can now run lights all night if I want, and not pull down the battery bank. The earf was cooling, not warming. so then they told us CFC and CO2 was causing climate change not global warming And coal was terrbal because it caused CO2 emissions. ISA and ASA has documented that shortage of sulfur in the soil has caused crop loss. Sulfur was ordinarily placed on the soil by sulfur from coal burning settling out of the air onto the cropland. Now, coalburning facilities have so much emission control that the land no longer gets sufficient amounts of sulfur. So, sulfur has to be applied to cropland at extra expense. TODAY: Michael Mann, the discredited author of the distorted facts that were presented as Scientific Proof of global warming has a new paper out. Who says the compact florescents burn out quick? In fact I've never seen one fail that wasn't mounted upside down and the more recent ones seem to tolerate inverse mounting reasonably well. When we moved into our house everything had 100w incandescents, apparently the old man who lived there liked it BRIGHT. I've been replacing them as they die, I think I've got 2 or 3 left. In their place I'm using 60w equivalent CF bulbs. I bought a bunch cheap under some govt program a couple years ago. The oldest ones have 5 years on them now. In fact the light next to my computer is an old Phillips CF that I paid around $20 for the year I got out of college. That'd be 11 years ago now. The one in my bedroom lamp is one year newer. Both moved with us from our apartment into the house 5 years ago... People always complain Oh you can't use them on a dimmer. Well I've never seen much use for dimmers, if I wanted less lights I'd turn on fewer lights, not run the lights I have less bright. Our ceiling fan lights all have dimmers and as they fail I'm replacing them with normal switches. I've also never encountered a dimmer that didn't make noise no matter what kind of bulbs, interestingly its just about the same tone as my tinnitus but louder, I'm surprised it doesn't drive people crazy... Anyway I don't consider the lack of dimmer use a problem since I hate dimmers. Now the mercury thing, that is a problem but we've seen huge advances in LED tech so I figure its just a matter of time. I like the instant on aspect of LEDs and their cold tolerance will make them better for outside use, although I bought an outside CF a year or two ago that works real well... -Curt Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2011 06:25:31 -0700 From: G Mann g2ma...@gmail.com To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] The latest Climate change lies Message-ID: cantulyjzjdtbbkql6auj8jkqur6tu0fscogslpvonojibo4...@mail.gmail.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Mitch, They are sealed units, so access to the circuits is not available to put a meter on them.. We were told that CFC's put a hole in the ozone, and caused global warming. Then they told us that CO2, required for plants to live, is a terrible thing, and is causing holes in the ozone. Then facts got in the way of the blarney. Every albore global warming event had a blizzard befall it. The earf was cooling, not warming. so then they told us CFC and CO2 was causing climate change not global warming And coal was terrbal because it caused CO2 emissions. And, coal was terrbal because it released sulfer into the air. Bla bla NOW, crops that normally need NPK, need NPKS. Now he claims that the sulfur from coal burning has caused the global cooling. So, the same thing that caused global warming now causes global cooling http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/04/global-warming-china-air-pollution_n_889897.html More lies from a proven liar. Before anyone falls prey to the lies, be sure to read Deming's admonition, don't confuse normal variation with special cause variation. On a related thought, I was listening to the radio while driving this afternoon and was reminded that we will only be able to buy incandescent light bulbs for about 6 months till the new federal ban on them takes place. So the question is, if I go ahead and buy 20 years worth of bulbs to store in my attic, my wife hates fluorescents plus we have a bunch of dimmer circuits, will the representatives of the fed nanny state police break down my doors and search the house if they find out that I am still using them and even hoarding them. Woe is me. If I only had more carbon credits like Mr. Global warming so I could afford to burn all those megawatts and get a free pass. Ya know, I think I'll be all right if I am very careful to hide them with the ammo for my guns and my collection of happy Meal toys. Oh yes, and I just saw this a few minutes ago, they just had a story on the TV that our fearless leader is trying to pass some sort of law that food manufacturers will no longer be able to advertise junk food on TV. Sorry Tony the tiger. Cereals with sugar are too dangerous to be advertised on TV. Somebody may actually want to eat that hazardous stuff. Prescription drugs? Nah, they're really safe and so good for you too. The FDA and AMA said so.ya they're OK. Oh my, what ever would I do without the feds, I'm s lucky to have the federal government to protect me from myself and think for me too. Dewey was an ardent statist, and a believer in the Hegelian idea that the child exists to be trained to serve the State. This requires suppression of individualist tendencies and a careful spoon-feeding of approved knowledge. This dumbing down of American education is not easily apparent unless you have studied in both foreign and domestic U.S. universities - then the contrast becomes crystal clear. - Antony Sutton, America's Secret Establishment, An Introduction to The Order of Skull Bones, 2002 Introduction. The guy was educated in the Brit system but spent his life over here teaching and researching conspiracy. I still remember reading one of his books 30 years ago - Trilaterals Over Washington. Google the guy and read the wikipedia quotes to find I have a friend in my protest against unemployment compensation: ...corporate socialism planned by the big corporations. Sutton concluded that this was all part of the economical power elites' long-range program of nurturing collectivism and fostering corporate socialism in order to ensure monopoly acquisition of wealth, because it would fade away if it were exposed to the activity of a free market. In his view, the only solution to prevent such abuse in the future was that a majority of individuals declares or acts as if it wants nothing from government, declares it will look after its own welfare and interests, or specifically that a majority finds the moral courage and the internal fortitude to reject the something-for-nothing con game and replace it by voluntary associations, voluntary communes, or local rule and decentralized societies. In Sutton's own words he was persecuted but never prosecuted for his research and subsequent publication of his findings. I desire to find the true patriots, not the RINO's pawing away our 235 year old experiment in democracy. I want to find others that are part of the solution - a majority of individuals declares or acts as if it wants nothing from government, declares it will look after its own welfare and interests, or specifically that a majority finds the moral courage and the internal fortitude to reject the something-for-nothing con game and replace it by voluntary associations, voluntary communes, or local rule and decentralized societies. Mao, Respectfully request I be excluded from the to the man group in your quest for truth and justice. I support your quest for independence from the nanny state mindless mentality. BTW, to the original poster on this thread. Try the latest version of LED lights. They come in soft white, use 1/10th the energy of incadecent, last almost forever, and are now available as direct replacement screw in to the socket bulbs. Price is still a bit high, but you will come to love the clean light they give. Ohh.. and no murcury like the government mandated new , safe, can't buy anything else, bulbs. You have to ask for the soft white specifically or they will be to bright and glare. Grant...
