Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Equinox's migration-tools repo

Rogan,

This is great! I was just working on some collectionHQ code and thought
of this post. I have some code to contribute back to {not the
migration-tools} repo. Do we have a way to contribute to:

https://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=contrib/equinox.git

I thought I would make a branch -> pull request but I don't think I have
the powers.

As many of you know the Equinox migration-tools repo has been around

You can now find it at:

We've always accepted patches but with Github pull requests available
that process will be a bit easier for everyone as well.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Hatch help for Windows 7, Evergreen 3.1.11

2019-10-28 Thread Blake Henderson

Jon,

We've ran into the same issue. It's usually one of these:

1. Hatch isn't running.
2. Hatch and the browser are unable to talk to each other.

Troubleshooting includes running the hatch client manually (before
opening the Evergreen staff client)
1. Open a command window and navigate to the Hatch folder: "C:\Program
Files (x86)\Hatch"

2. Execute the batch file: hatch.bat
3. Observe the output and it should* stay running with one of the last
lines looking like this: "2019-10-28 15:13:48 INFO   Using data
directory: C:\Users\username\.evergreen"
4. Head over to the browser and interact with
Administration->workstation admin->Print/Storage Service ("Hatch")
5. See what the command window shows. Might be some helpful messages in
there.

Also: try the new (beta) version of Hatch, rinse and repeat
(https://evergreen-ils.org/downloads/Hatch-Installer-0.3.2.exe)

Greetings, one of our libraries is having issues with Hatch on a

issue by upgrading the PC to Windows 10 given that Windows 7 Microsoft
support ends in January.

It's a Windows 7, 64 bit PC. They use Hatch because they're using
multiple printers. The issue is that the printers do not display in
the web client of Evergreen 3.1.11, under Administration, Workstation,
Printer Settings.

Yes, the checkbox to use Hatch under Administration, Workstation,
Print/Storage Service is checked, and currently we do not have the
checkbox for Store Local Settings in Hatch checked, because the issue
is present either way.

The issue is present under FireFox or Chrome. Used
https://files.nc.gov/dncr-statelibrary/LD/NCCardinal/documents/evergreen_how_to_install_hatch.pdf
as reference.

Steps performed thus far:
*Verified that there are no stuck print jobs in the queue.
*Verified that the xul client works correctly.
*Verified that the browser itself sees the printers and checked the
settings for header/footer and margins - although not really relevant
to this issue.

*Disabled/Enabled Hatch - no change
*Uninstalled Hatch and Java [64bit only on this PC, if that matters]
**Verified the related folder under
C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User
Data\Default\Extensions removed itself after removing hatch
**Verified the related folders under C:\Program Files\Java and
c:\Program Files (x86)\Java removed themselves after uninstalling
Java, after checking the checkbox that it remove all accompanying data
upon uninstall.

*Upon reboot, reinstalled them and the issue remained.
*Removed Hatch, Java, and Chrome  - after making sure any needed
Chrome data was backed up
**Renamed the C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Google folder to
Google-old to ensure no data was imported to the new installation
*Rebooted, reinstalled Chrome, Java and Hatch and the issue was still
present.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 3.3 and copy/item alerts - mixed client use

2019-10-15 Thread Blake Henderson

Josh,

This is probably un-helpful, but we let the upgrade script convert them
all to the new alert matrix feature and leave XUL in the dust. We
communicated this issue and fielded the questions as they came up.
Mostly: XUL is going away and this is "one of those things" that XUL is
losing. A good reason to start using Webby now instead of waiting.

There was a small group of catalogers that continued to use XUL and
catalog alert messages "the XUL way". We communicated with that group of
catalogers and explained what was happening and why "some" workstations
saw the alert and some didn't (XUL vs. Webby) - and once they were all
converted to Webby, we converted the XUL alerts to Webby alerts
retro-actively.

I suppose another option would be to have server-side software mirror
the two alerts somehow so that you could have them appear in both
clients but we did not craft such software.

I just noticed that the xul client cannot use the new item alerts, and
all existing item alerts are migrated from asset.copy to the new
asset.copy_alert during the database upgrade.

So I'm wondering what others have done to re-add all the alerts back
to the asset.copy alerts field so xul client users can still be
alerted, and how you have dealt with synchronizing the alerts between
the two locations during your transition period.

Thanks

Does that AT generate an email or other notification based upon the

Are there any libraries successfully using Evergreen 3.1 on iPads?  If

That behavior usually means that the browser cannot connect to the

be sure and notice that the URL is httpS

Rogan,

MOBIUS had our eye on hosting the Hack-A-Way for 2019 or any year after
2018 basically. Not to dominate the role of host. One of our goals was
to share our love of our town Columbia. And we couldn't do that with the
conference for capacity reasons. We believe we could with the
Hack-A-Way. We would like to put our hat in the ring for 2019 but it's
no biggie to shoot for 2020!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] PostGreSQL upgrade to 9.4

2017-10-15 Thread Blake Henderson

Glen,

It might be a good idea to dump the database to a series of sql commands
using pg_dump. Then replace the database engine with 9.5 and then
restore the database from that backup. Here are some commands to help
give you the idea:

Shut the database down
Make a raw tar backup of the folder (just in case)
time tar -zcvf /path/to/save/postgres94backup/db1.main.tar.gz
/var/lib/postgresql/9.4/main

Start the database again
time pg_dump -i -Fd -Z 9 -f /path/to/save/dbmain
--serializable-deferrable evergreen
The above command assumes that your database is called evergreen. Be
sure and choose an empty folder because that command will fill it up
with a ton of files/folders.

When I was doing this from 9.3 to 9.5, I had an issue with the
permission schema, so I backed that up special:
pg_dump evergreen -a -n permission -f
/path/to/save/main.permissionschema.sql

Now you should be done getting all the stuff. Fire up 9.5 (It sounds
like you got 9.5 installed)
Create an empty database called evergreen, making sure it's 'C' instead
of UTF-8

from the psql prompt:
CREATE DATABASE evergreen TEMPLATE template0 ENCODING 'UNICODE'
LC_COLLATE 'C' LC_CTYPE 'C';

\connect evergreen
CREATE LANGUAGE plperlu;
CREATE EXTENSION tablefunc;
CREATE EXTENSION xml2;
CREATE EXTENSION hstore;
CREATE EXTENSION intarray;
CREATE EXTENSION pgcrypto;
CREATE ROLE evergreen PASSWORD 'YourDBpassword' SUPERUSER LOGIN INHERIT
CREATEDB CREATEROLE;

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON DATABASE "evergreen" to evergreen;
GRANT ALL ON DATABASE "evergreen" to evergreen;

The above assumes that your database is called evergreen and your user
is called evergreen.

Now get to your folder where you backed up your database:
cd /path/to/save/dbmain
and restore it to the 9.5 cluster
time pg_restore -d evergreen -Fd ./ >
/path/to/log/db1main_upgraderestore.log

Inspect the log and double check for any possible issues.

I also had a path issue when I did the upgrade, and I had to run this
command to correct it:

ALTER ROLE evergreen SET search_path TO evergreen,public;

I hope this helps! Good luck, and as always, practice first!

Hello Jason,
Thanks for your advice. I actually started with Debian (latest, 9 I
think), and switched to Fedora because I encountered many errors
during installation and just got angry. That was my first encounter
with Debian and I already knew some Fedora stuff, so I figured it'll
be easier for me to find the workarounds on it.

The thing is, I don't think this problem is platform-specific, it
seems more like a misconfiguration to me. I tracked the issue down to
a piece of code in SettingsClient.pm, lines 67-68. I don't know perl,
but OpenSRF docs say that they're supposed to "return the complete set
of settings as a JSON document". Adding that to the log entries
screaming about problems with JSON parsing (at index 1), my guess is
that I messed up some configuration file and now it's unreadable.

Problem is: what file can that be? Seems to be about
router@private.localhost, so maybe something with ejabberd, but
ejabberd itself starts without problems and I can't find anything
wrong within it's config file (ejabberd.yml)...

Hello, Bogna!

My recommendation is that you switch to Debian 8 Jessie or Ubuntu
16.04
Server Edition for installing Evergreen. These are the Linux
distributions most commonly used by the community. You will likely
have
more success and get more help with problems.

Good luck,
Jason

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Everyone should have an Evergreen server and you can too!

2017-04-12 Thread Blake Henderson

All,

After this conference, it dawned on me that I could easily convert some
of the docker work into a helpful community asset. I have committed a
docker image to the public docker repository that will launch an
Evergreen server on your computer with just a couple of commands!

After you have installed the docker engine for your linux distribution,
you can get an Evergreen server running with a single command:
docker run -it -p 80:80 -p 210:210 -p 443:443 -p 32:22 -p 7680:7680 -p
7682:7682 -p 6001:6001 mobiusoffice/evergreen-ils:2.12.0

If it doesn't automatically download the docker image, you might have to
manually download it with:

docker pull mobiusoffice/evergreen-ils:2.12.0

Once you see that, the server is setup and ready for connections. Keep
in mind if you press CTRL+C - the server will die. Please use CTRL+pq
instead to leave it running.

Once you see this screen above, the container has finished booting, and
the OPAC should be available from your machine's IP address:

http://127.0.0.1
or
http://localhost

XUL staff client is precompiled and included:
http://localhost/updates/manualupdate.html

The SSL certificates are self signed, therefore you will need to add an
exception

The global admin account is:
admin / demo123

The postgres database contains the concerto set (--load-all-sample).

You can SSH into the container if you map the ssh port. The shell login
creds:

user/password

If you use the docker command example above, the SSH port for the docker
container is 32.

ssh -p 32 user@localhost

I posted the code that creates this image to github:
https://github.com/mcoia/eg-docker/tree/master/docker_builds/generic-dockerhub

It is learned that SMTP authentication might avoid this problem and we

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Meta Records/holds and electronic records

2017-04-05 Thread Blake Henderson

Josh,

This is a bug for metarecord searching. These are the related bugs:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1420509
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1461650
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1403907
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1629108

Good news! This was addressed recently! The fix was merged for the 2.12
release. You could patch your machines if you were feeling adventurous:

http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=working/Evergreen.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/user/blake/LP1629108-metarecord-constituent-result-reroute

Addressing the holds issue is a different story. It seems benign when an
electronic record is included in the group considering there are no
copies on the electronic bib. You could* change your fingerprint
configuration to include the format but that would defeat the purpose of
"Group formats and editions"

Hello, we just started adding marc records for our overdrive and
EbooksMN (biblioboard) collections and now I’m noticing that meta
holds will apply to these records. I’m wondering if there is some way
to exclude titles that cannot have copies (set in the bib source) from
being included in a meta record grouping. I thought that the main
reason to use metarecords was to take advantage of meta holds, so it
would seem to make sense to not include titles that cannot have copies.

Here is an example of what I’m seeing. When I do a search for
“Fantastic Beasts and where to find them” and group formats and
editions, out catalog groups 4 titles together, two books and two
electronic records.

https://egcatalog.larl.org/eg/opac/results?query=Fantastic+beasts+and+where+to+find+them=title%3Asearch_format==1_record_view=0==metabib

The display shows (2) copies, but also shows the icons for the
electronic copies. But if you click on the metarecord, only the two
physical copy records are shown. So it basically hides the electronic
records from view/use.

If I place a meta hold on that metarecord, and leave the format
unselected, one of the electronic copies has been chosen as the master
record, so the hold looks like it is on one of the electronic records,
and the electronic record title is shown to the customer in the holds
screen.

I tried to find a discussion about this, or any related bugs but I
didn’t have any luck.

Any tips on how I can adjust this behavior would be appreciated.

Thanks

Josh

everyone. It seemed like folks were interested.

I see it's mentioned on Social Activities

Last year, board games were played practically every night! So, we
will just play it by ear, and we can email the list and ping in
IRC, when we have a precise day/time.

I will bring some games:

Quirkle
Set
Codenames

Feel free to bring some games!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Patron online self registration for immediate use accounts

2017-02-09 Thread Blake Henderson

Lindsay,

Our consortium has asked for this as well. We have had subsequent
discussions with the community.

Mentioned here:

http://irc.evergreen-ils.org/evergreen/2015-11-16#i_215021

With the idea of leaving the patrons in pending.

I know it's been brought up a few times but I am unable to turn up the
conversations at the moment. The issue that keeps coming out of the
discussions is security. Especially if there is some automatic mechanism
to move the pending patrons to actor.usr. What's to stop the malicious
patron from racking up a bad account, then creating a new one and
continuing?

It's worth discussing on Launchpad though, to at least document it!

Looking at the existing patron self-registration feature, that just
creates pending accounts for staff to verify, etc.

Is anybody else considering/interested in online registration for
online access use? I'd create a wishlist, but am also be interested in
finding potential funding partners.

Jennifer,

We have had this before when we fired up a test server with a copy of

What would cause notices to all of a sudden go out? And at this

We had that issue and it turned out to be database connections. We had a

died all the time!

Run this on your database and compare to the number of allowed
connections that you have configured on postgres:

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Batch deleting records

2016-06-16 Thread Blake Henderson

Chris,

You will need to get a list of record ID's. Record buckets use record ID's.

The easiest way to do that would be a SQL query.

Something like this:

select distinct record, isbn from
(
select record,regexp_replace(value,$$\D$$,,$$g$$) \"isbn\",value
from metabib.real_full_rec where

record in
(
select record from asset.call_number where
not deleted and
label=$$##URI##$$
)
)
and
tag=$$020$$
and
record not in(select id from biblio.record_entry where deleted)
) as a
where length(isbn) in(10,13)
and
isbn in
( COMMA SEPARATED ISBN LIST )
order by 1;

The above query has a section "COMMA SEPARATED ISBN LIST" where you
will have to fill in your list like this:

'4412349854',
'2390340943',
'2390340943345',

This will return record id's that have scoped 856 URLs. If your records
do not have scoped 856's, then you will need to remove this section of
the query:

record in
(
select record from asset.call_number where
not deleted and
label=$$##URI##$$
)
)
and

Once you have your record ID's, then you may as well delete them in SQL
(make sure the list looks correct)

Delete query:

delete from biblio.record_entry where id in( LIST OF IDS );

All,

I meant to share the results (the fruits of our labor):

1. 169,206 bibs were deduped.
2. We had 1,000,234 non-deleted bibs and now we have 832,915 (there were
new bibs getting added to the system for the duration of the dedupe)

3. 16.9% duplication resolution
4. 12,381 bibs were NOT merged because they were serial/dvd/vhs/blu-ray
(these needs humans)
5. 1129 holds were filled! (did anyone notice a larger pull list these
last 3 days during the final stages of the dedupe?)

6. Download the full details here: http://bit.ly/1MHaABO

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Programmatic Merging of Bibliographic Records

2016-04-26 Thread Blake Henderson

Jason,

We liked your fingerprinting idea. We expanded it a bit:

 $fingerprints{alternate} = join("\t",
  $marc{item_form}, $marc{date1}, $marc{record_type},
  $marc{bib_lvl}, $marc{title}, $marc{subtitle}.$marc{subtitlep},
$marc{author} ? $marc{author} : '',
  $marc{audioformat}, $marc{videoformat}, $marc{pubyear},
$marc{normalizedisbns}

  );

each of these have been "normalized"
$marc{title}, $marc{subtitle}.$marc{subtitlep}, $marc{author}

The ISBN's are heavily normalized. 13 digit ISBN's are stripped of the
first three characters (978), and the last character. 10 digit ISBN's
are stripped of the last character. Then the whole lot is deduped and
sorted.

On top of the fingerprinting, we changed the way the quality scoring works.
We ended up coming up with this scoring algorithm

1. Count the number of subfields in the 245. Give 100 points each for a
maximum of 400 points
2. Count the number of characters in the 100. Assign 1 point for each
character for a maximum of 150 points
3. Count the number of characters in the 110. Assign 1 point for each
character for a maximum of 150 points
4. Count the number of 6XX fields. Assign 50 points to each one for a
maximum of 200 points
5. Count the number of 02X fields. Assign 50 points to each one for a
maximum of 100 points
6. Count the number of 246 fields. Assign 100 points to each one for a
maximum of 200 points
7. Count the number of 130 fields. Assign 100 points to each one for a
maximum of 100 points
8. Count the number of 010 fields. Assign 100 points to each one for a
maximum of 100 points
9. Count the number of 490 fields. Assign 100 points to each one for a
maximum of 200 points
10. Count the number of 830 fields. Assign 10 points to each one for a
maximum of 50 points
11. Count the number of characters in the 300. Assign .5 points for each
character for a maximum of 50 points
12. Count the number of 7XX fields. Assign 1 points to each one for a
maximum of 100 points
13. Count the number of subfields in the 50X. Give 2 points each for a
maximum of 100 points
14. Count the number of subfields in the 52X. Give 2 points each for a
maximum of 100 points
15. Count the number of subfields in the 51X,53X,54X,55X,56X,57X,58X.
Give .5 points each for a maximum of 500 points

Add the score together and we have the "quality" of the MARC. The higher
quality wins.

This approach allowed us to dedupe almost 18% of our bibs in the catalog!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Programmatic Merging of Bibliographic Records

2016-04-25 Thread Blake Henderson
Whatever method you use I heartily recommend doing so on a testing
system and having catalogers look over the results first.
You may have already done all the due diligence but I say it for
anyone reading along as well. I've never had problems with
this method and heard back from others with positive success with it
as well but I also heard from at least one whose data
was apparently different enough that it was not a clean merge. Caveat
usor, let the user beware.

We used this method for identifying the duplicate records. We found that
it merged electronic resources with books. It connected other formats as
well. We learned the hard way that we need to have better MARC records
before we run such a tool. Tons of MARC from LOC, includes all of the
ISBN's of the related formats for example. We subsequently wrote an
enormous amount of code to "guess" the correct format for all of our
bibs before deduping them. It uses phrase matching in the MARC. We
presented this at the Evergreen conference 2015. Slides here:
http://slides.mobiusconsortium.org/blake/evergreencatclean/#/

The full scope of the script goes a bit beyond the original question
as it also does de-duplication before the merging. The merging work
is done by the merge_record_assets function that Jason referenced.

Pioneer also does pretty much the same thing as Burlington. We
individually catalog book discussion kits, with a list of all the
component parts in the physical description/contents notes. Many kits
include multiple formats/versions of the title, such audio and large
print.

The whole kit is checked out to one person, who distributes them to
the group and is responsible for getting all the pieces back. We also
use extended due dates (managed by a book discussion kit circ modifier
and consortial circ rule).

The book discussion kits are owned by, and housed at, the system
office so we are not particularly worried about stats beyond that the
kits are being used.

The book discussion kits are holdable by patrons which is very
convenient for them, and cuts down greatly on staff mediation,
inconsistencies, and all around aggravation.

FWIW, here's a couple examples of our records:
http://evergreen.owwl.org/eg/opac/record/439881
http://evergreen.owwl.org/eg/opac/record/481131

They are also all searched by keyword = book discussion kit

This process has been working for us really well, libraries and
patrons love it.

All,

We had a consortium issue we are trying to figure out how to handle.
Several of our library systems would like to share the "Book Club
in a
kit" set of books. The idea is to keep the set of books together
while
they are circulated for Book clubs around the consortium. The best
idea
we have would be to create a dummy copy in the database that
represents
the whole set of (x) copies. The call number would describe the title
and quantity. The dummy copy would be attached to a bib called "Book
Club Kit" with some very basic information in the MARC. The
consortium
staff members would "know" (with training) that is the place to go
for
attaching these kits and where to go in order to place a hold.

Once a staff member places the copy level hold on the dummy barcode.
This is where we have some questions. We would like to circ each
book to
each patron for tracking purposes. Of course, the system didn't track
each copy in the transit table. Once they arrive at the destination
library, they would proceed to check out each copy to each patron.
Should the copies have their circulation library changed first? Maybe
there is a better way to handle it?

Does anyone else have a similar scenario?

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Hold policy Max Holds limit

2015-11-13 Thread Blake Henderson

All,

I'm not sure if we ever understood this. Can Evergreen limit the number
of holds for a group of circulation modifiers?

We have a hold policy that limits circulation modifier "DVD" to a max of
5 holds. We have another policy that is not narrowed to a circulation
modifier and has a limit of 50.

We are finding that if a patron has 5 non-DVD's on hold and attempts to
put a DVD on hold, it will be blocked. Verified by this query:

select * from action.hold_request_permit_test(111,111,256497,260920,260920)
answers:
f;246;"config.hold_matrix_test.max_holds"

It was not successful citing max_holds as the reason.

Is it possible to configure the system in such a way to limit a patron's
holds on each group of circulation modifiers?

5 DVD's
5 Media
50 anything else

We would expect the system to count up the number of pre-existing holds
that are for items with circulation modifiers of DVD's and compare that
to the max hold setting for the matching rule on the incoming hold
request. And not just a total number of pre-existing holds.

Jim,

I didn't do any experimenting with the 710. We did not receive any
complaints or any interest in the 710. I noticed that the 700 and the
710 were right next to each other in the LOC xslt definition and had the
exact same selector query and therefore offered our solution to the 700
as a possible solution to the 710. It looks like they are both treated
exactly the same in the LOC xslt template.

Glad you got it figured out!

since it looks like it requires a role for the index but the 700’s
seems to indicate the same thing but they work without a role.

Needless to say it is a bit confusing from where I stand.

So your 710’s with a subfield “t” show in your Author browse index
without any tweaking?

Jim,

We had this same issue. Be design, the mods32 xlst from LOC contains
this line:

(we addressed the 700 instead of the 710 but the solution is probably
the same)

We updated that line in the xlst to:

This makes it match the stock Evergreen indexes even with the presence
of the subfield "t".

Furthermore, we wanted to include the 700t in our title index. So we
created an index:

INSERT INTO config.metabib_field ( field_class, name, label, format,
xpath, search_field, authority_xpath, browse_field, browse_sort_xpath
) VALUES ('title', 'alternative_700t','Title Alternative (700t)',
'marcxml', $$//marc:datafield[@tag='700']/marc:subfield[@code="t"]$$,
TRUE, null, TRUE, null);

Hope this helps!

So, if, *you know*, your 710 browse indexes work and you are

other reason the indexes aren’t working by default…I supposed
Evergreen could be configured by default to not have the 710’s

Jayaraj,

What happens if you manually add something to the bookbag? Does it
display on the OPAC? If it does, then it's probably an issue with the
cron. What is inside of the description for those book bags? The
description needs to contain exactly one of these three phrases:

newitems
recentreturned
last14daytopcirc

bookbag_update.pl looks for bookbags that have one of those phrases in
the description column. That is the signal for the script to update that
book bag.

Jesse,

Did you happen to get the code from Github?

There is a folder structure there intended to match the folder structure
in /openils

/openils/var/web/opac/skin/default/js/carousel
and
/openils/var/web/templates/opac/parts

The various files belong to various places. If you are using a template
override, book_carousel.tt2 needs to be in the base template folder
otherwise the template toolkit breaks.

Be sure and edit book_carousel.tt2 and replace the numbers with your
bookbag id numbers.

If you are getting nothing, then you might need to inspect the resulting
html page and look for

div id=hidden_bb_info class=hide_me

Check to see if that div has any content. If not, the javascript stuff
isn't working. If it does, then take a careful look at your CSS. The
jquery plugin jcarousel is picky about the CSS. If you just use the CSS
example from Github, it should work but it never hurts to double check.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Mobius Book Carousel Demoed at the EG Conference this year

2015-06-29 Thread Blake Henderson

Jessie,

So, if you manually put something in those lists, the carousel shows them?

If you are having issues with the auto population, then you need to turn
your attention to bookbag_update.pl. That perl script needs to run on a
cron. It relys on a few perl custom perl modules:

Loghandler.pm
Mobiusutil.pm
DBhandler.pm

These are located in the parent directory:
https://github.com/mcoia/mobius_evergreen

You can just copy those files and put them into the same directory with
bookbag_update.pl

You can comment out some of the stuff that Mobiusutil.pm is relying on:

use ZOOM;
use Net::FTP;

You can also comment out a dependency from DBhandler.pm

use DBD::Firebird;

so that you don't have to install those dependencies as they are not
used for this.

The script looks at the bookbag's owner (the user that you used to
create the list) and scopes the list to the owner's org unit's parent
org unit. AKA the system level. If you don't want it to do that, you
will need to alter the query:

SELECT ID,(SELECT PARENT_OU FROM ACTOR.ORG_UNIT WHERE ID=(SELECT HOME_OU
FROM ACTOR.USR WHERE ID=A.OWNER)),DESCRIPTION FROM
CONTAINER.BIBLIO_RECORD_ENTRY_BUCKET A WHERE DESCRIPTION IN(;

Change PARENT_OU to just ID if you want the list to only look at items
at the branch level.

Good luck!

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Upgrade error

2015-05-20 Thread Blake Henderson

Jim,

Take a peak at the sql file and on line 6 you will find:

SELECT evergreen.upgrade_deps_block_check('0892', :eg_version);

That function call attempts to insert into config.upgrade_log.

The config.upgrade_log table has a primary key constraint on the column
version

Meaning, only one row is allowed to have the version value set to
'0892'. This is to ensure the sanity of the database.

That value was set when you ran this script: 2.6.3-2.6.4-upgrade-db.sql

Looking through our upgrade scripts, we don't have a proper script to
upgrade from 2.6.4 to 2.7.0. This came up before. Take a look at the
discussion:

http://georgialibraries.markmail.org/search/?q=Upgrade+Script+for+2.6.4+to+2.7#query:Upgrade%20Script%20for%202.6.4%20to%202.7+page:1+mid:iddjybejzbczs45d+state:results

The 2.6.4 script would have brought your database up to '0895'
(
from line 157 inside of 2.6.3-2.6.4-upgrade-db.sql
SELECT evergreen.upgrade_deps_block_check('0895', :eg_version);
)

Compare the two files:
2.6.3-2.6.4-upgrade-db.sql
2.7.0-2.7.1-upgrade-db.sql

and you will find them to be exactly the same with the header comment
changed.

So your database already has all of the changes from 2.7.0-2.7.1 applied.

You can skip that file and start with

2.7.1-2.7.2-upgrade-db.sql

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Electronic title - search filter

2015-02-19 Thread Blake Henderson

Don,

This is a subject that I have recently put many hours into. This begs
the question: How many bibs do we have that should be flagged as
electronic but do not have the proper MARC flags in the leader/06 and
008/23? We have been slowly developing methods of correcting the
catalog. One example:

Bibs that contain 856 indicator2=0 but without the 008/23 correctly
designated.

This query may help you identify those bibs

select id from biblio.record_entry where
id in (select record from metabib.real_full_rec where tag=$$856$$ and
ind2=$$0$$) AND

marc ~ $$leader..[at]$$
and
marc !~ $$tag=008...[oqs]$$
and
marc !~ $$tag=006..[oqs]$$

This will result in a list of bib ID's that are not currently cataloged
as Electronic but do contain an 856 with the linking indicators.

The mere presence of the 856 doesn't mean that the bib should be
converted to Electronic but it's a good start. We added more logic to
the decision making code but this query might get you started. Perhaps
it can narrow your scope. We created an Evergreen conference proposal to
go over our development.

Creating a copy/item record would be less work, and as Jennifer points
out you could then use the Circ Modifier as a filter. But that doesn't
fit into the default search filter options.

There's always a problem when a cataloger gets creative. I probably
should go ahead and just find a legitimate bib record for the titles
and be done.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Acq - Copy location UI scoped to registered workstation

2014-12-12 Thread Blake Henderson

Mike,

We do have the working locations setup (checked) on each of the branches
in the system for the user in question. We only see the copy locations
populated for the branch that the workstation is registered.

It seems like if the software allows the copies to be assigned to
different branches, it should also allow copies to get assigned to the
respective shelving location in that branch.

Bill,

This is the same conclusion that I was coming to. As I was saying
before, I didn't want to jump to a launchpad bug because it seemed odd
that something this fundamental wasn't already fleshed out and
incorporated. Shall I create a bug?

All,

I have gone through the installation of 2.5 RC1 on Fedora 19. I have to
say that it was less bumpy than 2.4 on Fedora 19. The prerequisites
script was much cleaner:

make -f Open-ILS/src/extras/Makefile.install fedora

installed all the rpms correctly and these are the resulting perl mods:

In contrast to 2.4 on Fedora 19, it was pretty smooth. With 2.4, I had to manually
install a bunch of the perl modules. I also had to do some things that were off
installation script regarding the apache configs.

With that said, I am running into an issue logging into the 2.5 RC1 server with
a windows client. ( I never got 2.4 working correctly with Fedora 19 -
encountered an error during registration of the workstation)

This is the error with 2.5 RC1 on Fedora 19:

Network or server failure. Please check your Internet connection to
192.168.11.119 and choose Retry Network. If you need to enter Offline Mode,
choose Ignore Errors in this and subsequent dialogs. If you believe this error
is due to a bug in Evergreen and not network problems, please contact your help
desk or friendly Evergreen administrators, and give them this information:

and from the shell:

I found some old support issues regarding this error:

http://list.georgialibraries.org/pipermail/open-ils-general/2011-October/005574.html

These solutions did not solve my issue. Perhaps I am missing something?

+1 for your list of goals

I do have 1 tiny commit, but I think that we could satisfy #4. Our
database was started in the 1.6 days and has encountered problems at
pretty much every upgrade which makes it good to test against in my
opinion. Also, Blake is new to the upgrade process so a fresh set of
eyes might do some good.

Given the relatively short timeframe, the RC period was a bit busier

My site installed an early cut of the RC upgrade on Friday, and after
a few hiccups (which have since been fixed), things are going smoothly.
