The age of your batteries, might be affecting the charging issue. If you can

IMS, was purchased by Braun in 2005.  After Ralph Braun passed, the company was
purchased by a Foreign Company in Europe and was renamed Braun Ability.  There
is no real reason from Braun to support old technology and the new owners agree.

I know you don't want to hear this but this is quite normal in business when
one corporation buys out another company and then is sold.  I'm not sure if IMS
made their own parts and components, or vendor them out as there are so many
changes going on and will continue to change.

Have you tried,   www.blvd.com,  in California as a source for old parts and
components and you can call Braun Ability, in Northern INdiana.

The last resort is proto-typing your own parts and components.  But that could
be risky.  Good Luck and

    Merry
Christmas

It is Christmas, well technically Christmas Eve, and if you are offended at
what I say, perhaps you will read my whole post and know my story a little
better.
 First,
Merry Christmas,
happy Hanukkah,
happy Kwanzaa,
happy happy happy.
Okay, I’m one of those that believe that Donald Trump is doing a fantastic job
even
though the fake news media is doing their best to discredit everything that the
majority of this country was built upon and believes in. For those that say the
quad site is not for religion, politics or a Merry Christmas, go pound sand,
better yet stick your head under it and come out in eight years.
Now, I’m going to say what I intend. I'm free, live in the United States of
America, the greatest nation on earth and at the moment have free speech. I
have been on the quad site most of 12 to 14 years, if not more and enjoyed the
posts that came across, found many helpful and I was able to help other people
that posted. I’m proud of who I am, what I’ve accomplished in my life and
scared of the road that I need to travel. I have this road close to my house
that I call my Prayer Road. When I have an issue I will travel this road to
think and pray. I was traveling that road in 1996 praying for an answer to
prayer because of a decision I needed to make. My mother was put on a
ventilator and a decision needed to be made to continue. Being the only
surviving child the weight fell on my shoulders and that was the issue I was
praying about. I know the spot that an audible voice told me “don’t worry she
is already with me.” That is something I will never forget.
I still travel that road when I have an issue to think or pray about, but I
look at the road a little different. About two thirds of the way on this road,
I look back. What I see is a stone road that I traveled many times. This road
is now paved, but in my mind I can still see a stone road and small concrete
bridge. This road I traveled hundreds of times on the way to “the old swimming
hole”. Oh yes, the old swimming hole, many of us have areas like this, many of
the kids that swam there also tried their first cigarette or other first. Mine
was a small corncob pipe, tobacco was cherry blend half-and-half. As I look
back the road I treasure the memories of the swimming hole and probably the
best hunting for small game in the area. I took many a rabbit and squirrel from
that road. Gone is the stone road, much of the trees and brush, remaining sweet
memories.
Today on that same road after I have looked back, I look forward. The road
goes up a small hill and bears to the left. If you are new to that road wonder,
what is ahead, what will I need to go through.
I know what I find for I elected to follow that road many years ago. However,
the thought of what is ahead and how will I handle it is the million-dollar
question.
A few months ago someone made the comment about ending their life, but stated
that they probably would not have the strength to go through that. It is not
srength to end your life, I know that all too well. Yes, it is going to end
your suffering and Lord knows I’ve suffered too. I’ve also gone through pain
when a brother committed suicide and I know firsthand what it does to those
around you. My nephew to this day has to be on medication for depression. If he
does not take his medicine they may find him laying on the floor rolled up in a
ball. My brother was a police officer, was on solo patrol and watched
helplessly as his best friends father, a damn drunk, stepped out from the
backside of a telephone pole into the path of a car, to commit suicide. My
brother tried to get him out and resuscitate him, but no go. The year was 1975
and thinking about actions like this were totally different. The police
department gave a few counseling sessions, but basically told him not to think
about it or talk about it and eventually it will go away. Well, just about a
year later it went away and so does my brother. I am mad at the police
department, or basically the people that were in charge of that time, but I met
her at my brother. At my time of life I need someone that I can share with, and
certain things cannot be shared and understood unless it is a sibling or very
long-standing friend.
My accident was 1966, so that makes me almost 52 years post SCI. In those 52
years I started out with two small businesses, the first making Christmas
decorations and the second selling hunting and fishing equipment. I always had
a very strong urge to go into the electronics

I've been terrified for 44 years because of stories I've heard and me visiting

This year I've been making tough phone calls and visiting places so I will be

My mom was just put into a nursing home  April 2017 45 minutes away. It is so
very clean, the staff is kind, attentive and compassionate and run and owned by
filipino people.
My insurance is Medicaid and that means there is a 2-3 year waiting list. So
I'm going to fill one out. I can't believe I just typed that last sentence.
Other places have no waiting list at all ... red flag ⛳️ to me.
This place, Merry Heart, has had quads before so I won't be the first.

Anybody have any advice for me?

Renting a loaner, is not that easy for many tangible reasons. Keep in
mind that in most cases, your rehab chair was custom built for you. In many
cases Quad are using CRT equipment and trying to use a regular mobility
chair could injure one's body. And then, who would be responsible? IF you
are
using CRT equipment always keep your old chair as backup and charged for
that reason.
CMS, pays DME/Providers up to $55 per day for a rental chair.

Bet ya dollar to donuts Medicare/Medicaid will pay for the repairs to your
chair, but not thru the provider who is trying to get a new chair. Call
Medicaid/Medicare and ask for yourself and a referral to a repair provider. 2
that I know of are Wheelchair & Scooter Repair-Solutions in Maryland
888-584-3095 The other is X-Med in Texas. These companies can only repair,
and
not sell them.

Without even making an appointment, someone from my chair tech company

checked my tires, which also seem fine, but they'll probably order new ones
because my insurance will pay, and I don't know what else he did because I was
taking a break from working just to deal with all this stuff.

I made the ultimate decision, but I was steered away from purchasing my

out to have a major flaw and, instead of replacing it, I told them I didn't
want that brand. Again, I let them steer me away from Invacare, and now I
have a chair that's had its share of issues, still does, doesn't go as far
as it should on a full charge, which I complained about early on, but they
don't look at the things you are mentioning, Wheelchair. Instead, it's
replace batteries, try different batteries if the replacements don't make a
difference, and do everything – it seems – but what it really takes to make it
work properly. The biggest issue, in my opinion, is they don't "live" in a
wheelchair. I realize they have to make money but this is just kind of

Your wheelchair is still under factory warranty. Please consider calling

repairs will be covered after the warranty. Call Customer Care and be
prepared to voice your issue and concerns. Ask them if it is safe to use your

Each manufacturer makes the necessary testing equipment for Tech Providers
to test the integrity of each component on an electric wheelchair or
scooter. Dealer programmers are also available to trained Techs. For end
users,
a multi voltage meter and amperage draw meter is a good start. Keep in

Greg,
I think we are in the same boat! I just had my 4th set of batteries put in
Monday since March. All of a sudden my chair was stopping saying “low
battery”. I would turn it off then on and go a few feet and repeat. Joystick
shows full battery charge. Woke up in March and my house smelled like rotten
eggs. I paid out of pocket for what they said were gel batteries from a
battery supplier because I had to have them that day. $352 worth. In June,
same thing with my chair stopping saying low battery but joystick shows full
charge (I use my chair very little). They swapped out batteries at no charge
but said it had to be my chair. DME company came out right after 4th of
July and ordered new batteries and new charger. Got them Sept 9, they said
what I had was not true gel cell . Last week, same thing, low battery and
chair stopping even though joystick shows full charge. We ordered new battery
boxes, receptacles, joystick and they warrantied my batteries but by the
time parts get here these batteries will be shot and I’ll have to pay out of
pocket again. My chair is 8 yrs old and new chair process is on hold until
medicare covers parts. Soo frustrated the DME company drug their
feet on parts and really trying to troubleshoot the problem. I asked in July

Changing out parts without determining the cause is foolish and time
consuming. I also realize that the process is much easier just to swap out
parts and components. Manufacturers require a test on each component and the
use
of a programmer to determine a part or component failures.
Certified Techs, know exactly what is necessary to perform. Shady tree
mechanical just swap out parts and components. Remember each motor has 3
components, magnetic brake, 24 volt motor and gearbox. Please keep that in
mind. It may not be the batteries, but rather a failed component that is
allowing the batteries to drain.

Below is a previous message I sent the quadlist. I decided this morning I
don’t even want to demo any chairs. The DME vendor is having problem
getting two footrests instead of the platform plate for all 3 chairs. I’ve
been
in an Invacare Action Arrow Storm for 19 years. They no longer make this
chair but the Torque 3 is the same chair, different motor.
I called vendor to tell them to order the Invacare but they told me we
have to provide reasons why the other chairs won’t work before the FDA will
sign off on it (since Invacare is currently under Consent Decree with FDA).
So they still want me to demo chairs and come up with reasons they won’t
work.
I am so frustrated. I know one deal breaker is the armrests because I have
a bag that we attach to a particular spot on my armrest and I put my leg
bag in it so it is hidden. Their suggestion is to put in on front of seat
pan. That won’t work, not even gonna try it, what’s not broke doesn’t need
fixed.
Also, I believe by having the same base I won’t have to move e-z locks in
the floor of my van where as if the other bases are different not only will
I have to pay to have bolt added to chair but the expense of moving the
bases.
Anyone else want to help me come up with reasons why other chairs won’t
work?
My rear is the one that sits in it so why can’t I just pick what I
freaking want?
Nicki
I’m getting my 3rd chair in 19 years. I have had the Invacare Action Arrow
Storm for all 19 years. Invacare got in trouble with the FDA and are under
a consent decree with them. My DME is really trying to steer me away from
getting an Invacare chair. It would be a Torque 3. I am suppose to be
testing it as well as a Permobil C350 and a Quantum Rival. The provider
brought
out the Quantum on Friday and it has a plate footrest (I have always had 2
footrest which allows me to straddle table posts at restaurants) I don’t
even think my feet would stay on a center mounted foot plate. They were
suppose to bring the Invacare first and the employee agreed he didn’t think my
feet would stay on the plate. He even told me that the motors in the Rival
go out but I didn’t hear that from him. The DME supplier is trying to get
footrests for the demo chairs but said they can only get 1 side for the
Invacare.
Would love input on any of these chairs.

Have you considered calling your local CMS Office and asking for a written

become a better extending and straightening my arms while in bed.
In the long-term, you might consider e-stim. If your biceps are
contracted, that means that your triceps are extending and lengthening. You
can
electrically stimulate your triceps, and other muscles, to help them contract
and strengthen. If you have partial control over your triceps, this can help
you increase that control.
If you Google estim, unfortunately, you will find a number of sexually
related devices.
But here is a place you can start:
http://www.lgmedsupply.com/tensproducts.html
after the system has been selected and configured and placed on the
appropriate muscles, is relatively easy for people who are not physical
therapists to attach the pads and device.
Has anyone else tried this? How did this work for you?

Size Matters. Much depends on the size of your bladder. Bladders then to
shrink with age and using a indwelling cath system. The size of the cath

Hiya Ben! An open wound should be treated with the utmost respect, and
never... ever be taken lightly. I hope you are being service by a certified
Wound Care Clinic/Specialist. Make sure your Nurse is a Certified Wound Nurse
and knows how to use a smart phone to take pictures every day or every
other day and send them to your Medical Wound Doctor. I'm sure by now, your
wound has been de-breeded and measured before the wound vac was applied.
Wound Vacs can be a pain in your butt, but you know that already. If you have
an aid, have them watch what is done, so they can know what to do if tubes
to the vac become tangled or your alarm goes off. How many pounds of Vac,
are you using? An air mattress is most important and laying on your side
at night time. I truly hope you don't smoke, as that will delay the healing
 process.
Do well my friend.

It could be the quality of the batteries. It could be a motor issue. The

On Monday October 17th he went to the V.A. hospital for a UTI that he

Perhaps I am "Lori come lately" with the news and following information
about Billy and his passing but others on Facebook know about his death.

I began to have the gut feeling that something had happened to him. So I
just logged into Facebook now to see his homepage and, sure enough, he
passed away last October. A Facebook friend of his wrote the following:

I'm deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend _Billy Kimberlin_
(https://www.facebook.com/billy.kimberlin.5) . In tribute to the kind, gentle
soul he was I would like to share a bit about him.
My friend spent most of his life serving others in one capacity or
another. He fought to keep our country safe as an Army Police Drill Sergeant
and
as a State Trooper. That is until one day a terrible tragedy struck. A
bicycle accident that left him paralyzed. In testament to the kind of person
he
was, in the 15 years that I’ve known him, I have never heard him complain
about the raw hand he was dealt. He even wrote this piece in his “about me”
 section on Facebook…

“unlike a lot of people I am lucky enough to be prematurely retired. All I’
m doing now is making sure that I’m constantly busy, so I don’t get too
bored.”
He considered himself “lucky”. His way of staying busy was giving back to
his community any way he could. He volunteered on a number of our
neighborhood boards and committees. Everyone he met was his friend. He didn’t
shy
away from uncomfortable questions about his handicap, but instead he would
educate them in his ever so gentle manner. Including my young inquisitive
children. He always had a welcoming smile on his face regardless of how some
days he just didn’t feel good. For me, Billy will always be one of the most
respected human beings I will have ever been fortunate enough to have had
in my life.

contact me regarding their pain of losing a good friend. His friends, and
former classmates that graduated with him from Ball State U and from members

last, but not the least, the racing community of almost 30 years.
Our family is Christian and we all knew that he was on loan to us. His
Mother and Brothers, along with his Sister in Law and his niece and nephews
will meet this weekend to celebrate Christmas and talks of and about Chris.
He meant so much to us and we will share our pictures, videos and memories.
Let this be an example to all on what a great person he was, that he
continues to inspire others in the healthcare industry, the racing industry,
the
education and justice system, even after his untimely passing.

Something not mention but relevant. A picture of your wound, Daily, sent
to your attending MD and wound specialist. This way they have a daily view
of what they are up against. A metric ruler is also a great guide tool.

I don't believe that AquaCell are sterile, but clean. Use a clean
scissors to make the cuts. Pressure sores should always be taken very serious.

When calling Invacare, make sure you have the serial number and name of the
provider. Also the parts ordered and status.

Something smells rotten in your area. Did you call and ask the issue. Are
the parts backordered or were they late in ordering, because some
employees only work 32 hour weeks. You have the right to know the part
numbers as
well. You can call the manufacture to determine if the part numbers are in
or backordered.

It is also possible that your provider is on credit hold, due to slow or
lack of payment.

You can work behind the scene to get all of your answers and perhaps,
faster service.

MK batteries are both expensive and the best, when treated right. The
failure rate on those imported China Batteries have a very high failure rate
and only a 6 month warranty. Make sure you place a note or sticker on each
battery, as to when it was installed, then hold your provider's feet to

All I can think of is that you might want to try a good electronics person
to check your chairs. I use a 08 tdx and just went at least 6 miles and
didn't use a 50% charge on 4 year old interstate maintenance free marine
batteries. I got them and a polycarbonate divider that I was told should
always
be used when batteries are settled together. I haven't had a box with both
batteries together since the late 80s. Everest & Jennings used to nestle
batteries beside each other like this chair and they needed dividers that
didn't come with the chair. I don't know if this will help anyone but it's an
 idea.
I know that it's out of pocket , but electronic repair shops and many
auto mechanics have been more help to me than DME's. Much faster too.

MK Batteries are the best on the market, bar none. If they try and supply
you with vented lead acid batteries, let the manufacturer know using your
vin or serial number of your chair. Make sure that lead-acid batteries do
not void any manufacturer warranty.

Was he a truck driver or a certified mobility tech? There are some simple
test that be performed with a multi-volt tester and a coiled load tester.
Just make sure that your insurance carrier doesn't pay for an evaluation,
using a truck driver instead of a certified tech.
