If you want to make changes to not update this file, that's is fine, but I hope to at some point get the vusage daemon occasionally dropping this file since it contains all the prerequisites to write this file in memory. Basically, vusaged should be providing maildirsize readers with the information they need by accessing vusaged. If they don't do that, or can't be updated to do this, the case with most existing packages, it shouldn't be stated anywhere they shouldn't or can't write this file. - -- /* Matt Brookings m...@inter7.com GnuPG Key FAE0672C Software developer Systems technician Inter7 Internet Technologies, Inc. [vchkpw] Quota Warning - Not working with maildrop
Hi All, I use maildrop for filtering in our vpopmail setup, my intention is to autmatically move spam messages to .Spam folder, without losing the ability of vpopmail to send out quota warning messages. Here is my .qmail file [EMAIL PROTECTED] test]# cat .qmail |preline /usr/local/bin/maildrop /usr/local/etc/mailfilter I'm using maildrop-2.0.4, compiled with --enable-maildirquota. This works when a mailbox is overquota, But never sends out a quota warning when mailbox is at 90% capacity. Please advise what else I can try. Pol !DSPAM:4923a8d932318341789360!
[vchkpw] quota warn message is broken in vpopmail with maildrop support enable
Hi, I'm made many test before write this e-mail, but I think that when I enable maildrop support in vpopmail (--enable-maildrop) and I place an /etc/maildroprc (like src/vpopmail-5.4.26/maildrop/maildroprc.v2) the warning about quota warn message not working. I'm working in a test environment configured as follow: shupp.org's toaster vpopmail 5.4.26 build with this options: ./configure --enable-mysql-limits --enable-auth-module=mysql --enable-logging=v --enable-maildrop /etc/maildroprc is this http://vpopmail.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/vpopmail/vpopmail/maildrop/maildroprc.v2?revision=1.3view=markup but I also tried with others without success. When a mailbox reach 90% or more the message ~vpopmail/domains/.quotawarn.msg is copied only if maildrop for these user is disable (vmoduser -x [EMAIL PROTECTED]), when maildrop support is enable the messagge is not copied to the user mailbox. Yes, I delete the file quotawarn in the user Maildir every time. Can be easily corrected this problem? Maybe just enough to anticipate the process that check the quota, and copy the file, and after running maildrop with maildroprc, but I do not know if I'm making a wrong assumption. What are the options available to have mail accounts with more than 4 GB quota? One options: rewrite the Maildir++ patches for qmail and POP/IMAP servers, along with vpopmail's quota support code to use a larger variable type to store the sizes (long long?). It might be possible to work around it with a hack of storing message sizes in bytes, but the total of the sizes (and the user's quota) in KB. This would get you up to 2TB quotas. foreach message_size do { bytes += message_size; kbytes += bytes / 1024; bytes = bytes % 1024; } I'm sure that at the time it was written, 2GB seemed like an insane quota for a mailbox. Unfortunately it's now a realistic number. Keep in mind that if you've got 2GB mailboxes, it probably requires lots of resources to recalculate disk usage. Consider running a nightly cronjob that calculates disk usage for all email users and warns the ones who are over quota. If they stay over for a certain period, bill them or turn their account off. In your chkuser_settings.h you have a line like: #define CHKUSER_MBXQUOTA_VARIABLE CHKUSER_MBXQUOTA This line tells you the name of the variable to be used. Now you can put in your running command an explicit set of the variable CHKUSER_MBXQUOTA=95 or put it inside tcp.smtp :allow,CHKUSER_MBXQUOTA=95 where 95 means 95% of the quota (change it as you like). Hi people, I have a problem with quota in my server. I put 50Mb for an users, but the quota don't block the new messages. In qmailadmin, I see users with 20Mb usage but in the server with du command I see more than 70Mb. Is very strange, the .trash folder dont't enters in quota limit, why? [vchkpw] Quota issue on automatic move
I'm a newbie, so I appreciate the responses if this is an easy fix. A few clients(college students)are using filters in squirrelmail to automatically move spam tagged messages from INBOX to a SPAM folder on login. These users will wait for their quota to be 95% before cleaning anything out, and if they have this auto move set up when they try to login Courier won't allow the move. I apologize if this should be addresses on a Courier board, but I was wondering if I could get a quick opinion on a fix. [vchkpw] Quota
Hello all, I am currently using a qmail/vpopmail setup and the vqadmin control panel. I would like to know a bit more about how the quota system works. I currently set the 'quota size' to 50,000,000 bytes. How can I limit the domain's quota to X bytes rather than limiting a user's disk as I would prefer to have our customers set up a large number of mail boxes but not letting the domain go over a given size. -- Regards, Ed.

[vchkpw] Quota Question
I just converted my vpopmail install to use MySQL in preparation for setting up a nice admin screen for my users, and noticed something. Some of my users have a rather odd quota setting, while others have what looks right. Normal: 1 Odd: 3000,1000C What's up with the second one? I can't find any documentation about that syntax anywhere. Is it valid? And if so, what does it mean. Thanks!

[vchkpw] Quota problems
Hello all, I have looked thru the archiveof this list and tried to find a solution to my problem. I have tried what I could find and will go thru that, but have not been able to find a solution yet. Im running qmail, vchkpw, and sqwebmail. I have a few domains that are not reporting mailsize properly. In looking thru the list, I found one solution to be deleteing the maildirsize file every night thru a cron job. I have tried this, but it still does not seem to work. I am using vpopmail v 5.2.1, and qmail 1.03. If any other information is needed, please let me know. Thanks, Dave Kettmann NetLogic 636-561-0680

After deleting 'maildirsize' file, i guess you need to run 'maildirmake'. For a particular user, if i come across quota shown uncorrectly, usually never happens, i've seen it happen when i moved into the new mail server and dumped his mails from old server to new server, then, i delete his 'maildirsize' file and run the following command from his directory and allocate him 20 MB mailbox, for example. maildirmake -q 2000S ./Maildir/ Your problem is not w.r.t. user but w.r.t. domains. Something similar to above i feel. Have you set quota for those domains properly? You can set quota using vQadmin also. quota support enabled and it is/was working properly? [vchkpw] Quota
HiI'm using vpopmail 5.3.14, squirrelmail, courier-imapI enable 20 meg quota for all account but it seem the quota will not include the trash and sent folder. I will have account will 90 meg but the quota bar still show its within quota, and thats because the inbox is within quota. Its all the trash mail. I set vpopmail qmailadmin to purge the trash folder every 7 days. I would still like the quota to include the trash and sent folder. Anyone know how i can set it that way.Raymond
Re: [vchkpw] Quota question: (Qmail + Vpopmail + Courier-imap) with maildir quota.
Title: Hi Steven, Thanks. Yes, you were rite. When I type thevuserinfo, it is re-calculate the whole directory. But, I have figure out something after this. As you know the vuserinfo will re-generate the maildirsize file once the maildirsize file not exits with the latest file size. So, let say if I have created a folder by using IMAP, then move the email message into the folder and it will append the negative into the maildirsize file. After that, if I delete or any other reason that the maildirsize deleted and run the vuserinfo again, the vuserinfo will actually regenerate the maildirsize again with the latest file size. Then, I delete the whole folder by using IMAPit won't append the negative into the maildirsize. So, I will get the wrong quota status. For example: 1. New message come into mail server. Appened the mail size into maildirsize file. 5242880S0 02536958 1 Do vuserinfo then give 48% used. 2. Create a folder and move the message into the folder by using IMAP. 5242880S0 02536958 12536958 1-2536958 -1 Do vuserinfo then give 48% used. 3. Delete the maildirsize file and run vuserinfo. Then it will re-generate the maildirsize file show below. 5242880S0 02536958 1 Do vuserinfo then give 48% used. So, from step 1 to step 3 still provide the correct quota usage. But, after the the vuserinfo re-generate the maildirsize file and I delete the message by using IMAP it won't update the maildirsize. In the maildirsize still remain the same amount in step 3. 5242880S0 02536958 1 Here, I do the vuserinfo again then it is still provide me the 48% used. In fact there is already no any message inside the maildir. Is it a bug or the quota calculation not intelligent enough to re-calculate? That's mean the maildirsize file cannot been removed, else we will get the wrong quota usage? Hope you can understand my poor explaination. Re: [vchkpw] Quota question: (Qmail + Vpopmail + Courier-imap) with maildir quota.
Title: Hi Steven, I Just figure out another problem that cause the quota not correct. It is about the sub folder created by IMAP. By default for IMAP, it will have the INBOX. And I create a sub-folder call "testing" under INBOX. Then, I create another sub-folder again under the "testing" call "testing2" So will be like this INBOX -testing --tesing2 ---testing3 Then, I move the email message to testing3. And I delete the sub-folder testing1. So, all the sub-folder will be removed. But, after removed all the sub-folder I can still see ( .testing.testing1.testing2.testing3) in the maildir folder...it mean the imap did not successfully removed all the sub-folder. So, this will cause the quota calculation not corect too. Is this a bug too? Or am I need to apply any patches?I am using Outlook express to create the sub-folder and delete folder. - Original Message - From: steven To: 'Kuan Yik' ; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 4:20 PM Subject: RE: [vchkpw] Quota question: (Qmail + Vpopmail + Courier-imap) with maildir quota. [vchkpw] Quota question: (Qmail + Vpopmail + Courier-imap) with maildir quota.
Hi! I am not sure am I posting to the rite mailing list to ask this question. Currently, I am using only Qmail + Vpopmail + Mysql to provide pop3 and smtp. And, wat I understand that they are using the maildir to store email message in /home/vpopmail/domain/abc.com/user/Maildir/new cur tmp .And , the file maildirsize is use for the quota status. Everything work fine for me now. Now I am interesting on the courier-imap is because I want to use some webmail that support imap. So, I have tried to configure my mail server to support courier-imap as well, and it is working fine so far. The only problem is the quota control. I deleteemail message by using imap isfine. It will update the maildirsize file. But, I notice that I am also ablet o create folder by using Imap into the mairdir. Ihave tried to createa test folder call"testing123" by using imap. Then, itwill create a directorycall ".testing123" in the Maidir/ which thisfolder donot update the maildirsize file. This is the major problem. Coz,user can create any folderand saved all the message into that folder andit will not update the maildirsize file mean the server will not count the quotacorrectly. Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem? Is possible to disable the create folder feature on the imap server?Orwhat else I can do that make the imap will update the maildirsize filewhen creating a newfolder. Orany alternativeway todo that to handle the quota by using imap? Regards, KY.

[vchkpw] Quota problem: negative values in Maildir/maildirsize
Hi, I am using vpopmail-5.2.1, courier-imap-2.0, qmail-1.03. I use both courier- imapd and courier-pop3d instead of qmail-pop3d. A few days after I migrated my users from an old mail server to my new nfs server, users started getting weird quota reulsts on the webmail quota. vuserinfo reported 0% for the usage although du -sh on the user's maildir reported about 3-4 megs. Looking at maildirsize, there was many lines with negative values. telnetting to the imapserver 143, logging in as the user, and issuing a001 getquota ROOT I get also negative USAGE value. While googling for something related to this problem, I found only one post: http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/3723/2002/2/350/7883526/ Mr Sam said: - This can happen if mail gets delivered to a mailbox by a delivery agent that does not update the quota tracker. Solution: use deliverquota or maildrop to deliver mail, and make sure that the quota is correctly specified. - This is not the problem for me however. The only programs that deliver to maildirs are vdelivermail, maildrop (both compiled with maildirquota support), and qmail-local. I know qmail-local doesn't support maildirquota++ but this never was a problem, and I confimed it's not the one causing the problem (read below). So looking at the maildirsize file in the maildirs of users having the problem, they all had negative values. So I wrote a little shell script (see at the end of this message) that finds those mailboxes with bad maildirsize files, deletes them, runs /home/vpopmail/bin/vuserinfo -Q [EMAIL PROTECTED] on the accounts for which the maildirsize was deleted to recreate it, and then sets the proper permission (uid/gid vpopmail/vchkpw). This solved the problem. Sending mail from local domain to another local domain, or from a remote domain to a local domain both seem to reflect the _correct_ size now, and instantaneously. Therefore it's not qmail-local? I am suspecting it could be that the file sizes changed slightly when moved over to the nfs server on a ext3 partition with a 4096 blocksize. The filesystem on the old mailserver was ext2 and default blocksize (redhat 6.2). Could this possibly confuse courier-imap and cause it to put negatives in maildirsize? or is it vdelivermail that was confused? Any thoughts, ideas? Best Regards, Tim Hasson Here is the script I used to fix the maildirsize files: #!/bin/sh echo [*] Finding maildirsize files... sizes=`find domains -name maildirsize` echo [*] Finding bad maildirsize files and saving them in badmaildirsize.tmp rm badmaildirsize.tmp for i in $sizes; do if [ ! -z `grep - $i | head -1` ]; then echo $i badmaildirsize.tmp fi done echo [*] Creating [EMAIL PROTECTED] list for whom we recreate maildirsize rm mailboxdir.tmp # get domain.com/user from domain/domain.com/user/Maildir/maildirsize sed s/domains.//g badmaildirsize.tmp | \ sed s/.Maildir.maildirsize//g mailboxdir.tmp rm fixemail.tmp # change domain.com/user to [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailboxlist=`cat mailboxdir.tmp` for mailbox in $mailboxlist; do username=`echo $mailbox | sed s#.*/##` domainname=`echo $mailbox | sed s#/.*##` echo [EMAIL PROTECTED] fixemail.tmp done rm mailboxdir.tmp # we dont need it anymore echo [*] Deleting bad maildirsize files deletelist=`cat badmaildirsize.tmp` for maildirsize in $deletelist; do rm $maildirsize done echo [*] Recreating deleted maildirsize files addresses=`cat fixemail.tmp` for emailaddress in $addresses; do /home/vpopmail/bin/vuserinfo -Q $emailaddress done echo [*] Setting owner/group vpopmail/vchkpw on maildirsize files newmaildirsizefiles=`cat badmaildirsize.tmp` for newmaildirsize in $newmaildirsizefiles; do chown vpopmail:vchkpw $newmaildirsize done

I set that .quota warn message file for quota warning message, but do't know why it sending mail when quota limit is near 20 or 15% used. To ensure that your quota counts are always accurate, you need to make sure that any applications that are involved in the adding/removing of messages are maildir++ compliant. Using a non maildir++ compliant POP3 daemon (such as the one that comes with qmail) is the most common cause for the quota system to falsely be reporting that a user has hit their quota limit. Bill Shupp has a patch for qmail that fixes both the qmail-pop3d and the qmail-local programs so that they become maildir++ compliant. You can download this patch from here : http://www.shupp.org/patches/qmail-maildir++.patch I would recommend that you then go and delete all your user's quota files (because they contain inaccurate counts). The quota files will be automatically recreated and will contain the correct totals next time a message is delivered. I have used this command in the past on my server to zap all the user's quota files : find /home/vpopmail/domains -name 'maildirsize' | xargs -i --verbose rm '{}' 21 ANd some time i have one or two mails and got quota warn message, why and the date it show in the header date field is very far behind the currrent date.why This is a limitation of the vpopmail quota warning system. The warning message does not contain any date field, which causes assorted weird results depending on the mail client that is used to read the message. A little more information about this is available in the archives here : http://bluedot.net/mail/archive/read.php?f=2i=10854t=10851 Hope that helps! Michael.

i read some code in vpopmain and qmail buat it to difficult for vdeliveries to force qmail to pending an email for some lifetime under qmail. other way i can think of is to make vdeliveries to send email to thrash. but not all web based enable auto purge, sqwebmail with using 0 values, it make disable the feature but if i send to thrash ... pop3 access can get his new mail. perhaps i should stick with find return code from qmail after all. -- thx onOs UPPTI - Universitas Brawijaya
[vchkpw] Quota limit
Does somebody knows how may put a quota per user plus than 2147483647 bytes (i.e. 6Gb). This question is because when a quota of 4294967295 bytes (i.e.) is established the system doesn't works properly, apparently because a int32 limitation ? Any idea ? Regards, -- Enrique Luis Schamann

[vchkpw] Quota on qmail (for send and receive)
HI! I tried to put quota on qmail, for sending and receiving emails. I want to accept only emails that are under 3 megs. I tried with softlimit, tcpserver but it didnt work it. Can someone tell me how can i do that limitation ? On the system I have qmail + daemontools + vpopmail + qmailadmin + courier-imap(for pop3). Thanks allot. --- George Tolea
RE: [vchkpw] Quota on qmail (for send and receive)
Make a file in /var/qmail/controls called databytes and in it, put the value (in bytes) of the largest email you want qmail to accept. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 05, 2003 8:12 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [vchkpw] Quota on qmail (for send and receive) HI! RE: [vchkpw] Quota on qmail (for send and receive)
The defaultdelivery file is a global setting saying that qmail will not accept any email larger than X. If you want per-user quotas you can set those through vpopmail. You can't set a per-user file size limit though, the closest you can do is on a per-ip basis. Since tcpserver reads environment variables from the tcp.smtp.cdb file, you can put something like this: 1.2.3.4:allow,DATABYTES=x I don't know how to limit file sizes based on the recipient other than leaving no limit and using per-user quotas. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, February 05, 2003 8:22 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [vchkpw] Quota on qmail (for send and receive) Thank you for you answer. RE: [vchkpw] Quota on qmail (for send and receive)
I know about quota in vpopmail (megs and number of emails incoming). The problem is that all persons that user the server are from a single ip: aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd, so i cant use that kind or restrinction (in tcp.smtp.cdb) :(. Re: [vchkpw] Quota per domain
Try using system quotas instead. This is what I use. Put each virtual domain under a separate unix user. Impose a system quota on that user. Then set per-user quotas from qmailadmin. There's a -u option to vadddomain to set it to the specified unix userid and setup the domains directory under that user's home directory. This is a workable approach (I've been using it for years), and I'm delaying patching vdelivermail to implement it so I can finish up on qmailadmin. Thanks, Brian Hi Brian! I have installed Qmail+vpopmail+swwebmail on Redhat Linux 8.0 Now, I want to implement disk quota per virtualdomain. when I add a virtualdomain ./vadddomain manish.com -q 200 this option works as -q quota_in_bytes (sets the quota for postmaster account) Sets the quota for postmaster account. But as I have 25 virtualdomains, I want to allocate specified disk quota to each virtualdomain. And the postmaster of that virtualdomain can use that disk space as per his requirement with any number of users. Please give the workable answer... Re: [vchkpw] quota for per domains
I responded wrong address. Sory Mr. Clayton Weise. So, Thanks your help I checked archives and find it. I understand but not simple way for me. Do I have to make the system_uesr anyway? now I using qmailadmin and vqadmin with Suexec Apache. qmailadmin vqadmin: It is not work default ownership. I can't make qmailadmin webpate for par-domain because of SuExec. so,vqadmin.cgi qmailadmin ownership have to change the root. /home and / directory are separate partition. Is it correct? I want to know better way. Thank you. //dai at dai-dai.com Dai Uehara [EMAIL PROTECTED] //dai-dai.com at dai

[vchkpw] quota is full, (maildirsize file)
Hi all, i have just upgrade to version 1.6.1 of courrier-imap but now all my users are telling me that they are geting the quotawarn.msg any idea on how to fix that ? i have notice that deleting the maildirsize file (~vpopmail/domain/someuser/Maildir/maildirsize) fix this, but is there a better option to fix this ? regards
[vchkpw] quota
Hi, I`m using vpopmail-5.2 with qmail. The problem is that vuserinfo [EMAIL PROTECTED] sais that customer has used let`s say 50% of his mail quota, although cd ~vpopmail/domains/domain.tld/user ls -lasR */* shows that there are no messages and no files at all. Maildir/maildirsize shows that there are messages. Is this is a bug or a feature? How to cope with this? The problem disappears if Maildir/maildirsize is deleted. As it is written in vpopmail documentation quota gets updated every 15 minutes, but on my system (debian woody) this never happens. User quotas are qreated with vsetuserquota [EMAIL PROTECTED] 4000 Any ideas? -- Augustas Gutautas UAB Baltnetos komunikacijos Galvydžio g. 5, Vilnius Tel. 2745444 Fax. 2745440 Mob. 8614 63487 http://www.balt.net
