Whilst very helpful, this is an illustration of the potential complexity of a solution that I would have thought most of us could do without.
Why would I want to stream my mere 14,500+ files (around 320GB) across my network when all I should need to do is plug a drive straight in? Frankly it would never have even occurred to me to do so, let alone via my vintage laptop. I'd also want an incremental system which avoided re-writing all those files for just a few changes. My understanding is that Vortebox has such a feature, but it can cause problems with USB drives. -- PasTim Server on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, 2 CPU, 2GHz, 4GB, FLAC files.
