OK , here is the workaround . Looks like I may have found
some bugs in the process as well .

  Method first (bugs later) .

1) Create an 'Image Object' using that video that is going
to be used for the View Backdrop (not the Camera Backdrop) .

2) Go into 'View Properties' and on the 'Draw' tab select
'Backdrop image' and choose that newly created image
object . (Turn the 'Weight' up to 1.00) . Increase the
line width for scene objects (at bottom) if desired .

3) Simply do an animation preview while in OpenGL mode and
the wireframe renders over the now crisp background .

Bugs : When you choose an animated 'Backdrop Image' via the hor-
izontal toolbar (when a camera is selected) , then :

Bug #1) This creates a VSL material that does not know it is an
animated backdrop and will only show the very first frame
by default . The user must check the 'Advanced' box and then
go into this VSL material and manually adjust it so that RS3D
   plays the entire animation .

Bug #2) Then , the BG animation plays , but is very slow
in updating ... too slow to do an OpenGL animation preview .

Bug #3) On my 3 computers RS3D would not allow me to use Xvid en-
coded video or animation as a backdrop . Divx or uncomp-
        ressed etc was fine .

Have a nice day .
