Good luck with the Icarus thing.

The thing in this thread for me is the intriguing idea of a faded object with outlines. Not sure what use it could ever be but I think it might be a tickle to run some tests on.

And yep, Meats Meier is a name for sure.

Thanks for your efforts.

Yep, I was going to suggest the materials library/constant/fade material ... and set the level of fade for your foreground objects as you need but I cant test this for outlines. Also forced visibility for the background might be
useful but again I am unable to test.

Yes , there is bound to be a nice workaround , maybe a
shader ... something that would be very usefull to any-
one trying to mix video with CGI , but I'll leave it for
those more inclined .

My time is currently being sucked out via the bleeding
edge of Icarus-to-Realsoft3D . First there's the Icarus
learning curve ... then the scene matching . So far it's
not in any way automatic at all but must be trailblazed .

Still , it looks doable and early tests look very pro-
mising . 'Meats' Meier is my inspiring artist who , years
ago with Icarus managed excellent comp's in Maya (via
Icarus's very friendly Maya scene export module) .

Now , his site say's he is using Boujou . Look at
Chrome Devils & iFilm Projector to see his older stuff
at the bottom of this page . http://tinyurl.com/yjut32

No "realsoft scene" export module in Icarus but it may
be possible to match data points seamlessly , manually
via RS3D's Icarus text-file import .
