There are several different ways these controls work. You should be able to get inside the box by pressing enter where JAWS verbalizes the control's name, such as "list." then try John's suggestion again. If that doesn't work, start over by pressing enter, then skip the alt-arrow step and just

Well, according to gmail help, they do support POP3, (Rick's instructions are from the support page) but it's not the default. You must go into gmail settings and enable POP3. However, I still maintain that IMAP is a better option. I don't use Outlook, so I'm not familiar with their error
