I am definitely going to be going with solid bushings; don't want to go back to the original split style, but my decision lies in the offset or centered bushings. I already have the 96+ M3 upper strut mounts on my Bilstein and H&R combo, on the proper sides, i.e. NOT swapped for camber. Currently, the front end feels pretty light and unstable; could this be more from the upper strut mounts or the super worn CA bushings? Knowing that current setup, which is recommended, the offset or centered bushings? My worry lies in too much caster as a result of the combination of both the M3 upper strut mounts and offset CA bushings, but I don't know if it would really be an issue. I am also wary of excessive amounts of rubbing on full lock turns, which I obviously want to avoid as well. All input welcome. Brian 93 325 __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I am pretty familiar with the regular suspension and cooling system related replacements that are a good idea around 100k (my car has 110k). I expect to do the shocks and front and rear control arm bushings and have already done the radiator and auxiliary fan. Are there any engine related issues I should address preventively? Timimg chain tensioners? Vanos stuff? Car is mostly a commuter, with a very rare autocross. Any help is appreciated. Timimg chain tensioners? Vanos stuff? Not unless you're getting any noises from those areas. You do replace your fuel filter regularly, right? If not, I believe some manuals call for it to be replaced at 100,000 mile intervals. Check your power steering hoses, they have a tendency to leak and need replacing after a while. When you do, might as well replace the P/S reservoir (~$40). The filter for the system is in the reservoir. And of corse put in new fluid. Additionally, in my case, I've kept an eye on my oil consumption. I'm due for a valve job (~1 qt. of oil every 700-800 miles). But then, my motor's been one of the one's that has always consumed some oil. Sure, you could hunt around in the dark trying to fix it. Or, you could have a local independent BMW mechanic read out the fault code for you, then you'll know *exactly* what to fix. If you have a good relationship with a mechanic, it should be very inexpensive to have them read out the code (two of my local mechanic's will read codes for free; YMMV). Late ones had a transferable coding plug which can be switched over (assuming it's not the failure). Your dealer is being stupid because there is another option. You can order a new cluster from BMW, pre-programmed with the appropriate mileage. Tell your dealer to see SI 62 02 97 and SI 62 02 95 for details.
