I just got them for my e36 m3 from Turner Motorsports for $630. Shipped to
me in CA it was about the same price as they are at shox.com.

Does anyone know of a place that sells Bilstein shocks for less than
Shox.com?

Try http://www.eap4parts.com. I bought a set of Bilstein sports for my E30
from them. I don't remember what I paid, but it was cheaper than anywhere
else I could find. I also just ordered new rotors from them and will
continue to do business with them. Set of 4 sports (front/rear) is $372.69
ground shipped (about $13) to MN vs. $379 without shipping on shox.com.
Good luck!

Howdy,

Ok, mini rant...

Why in the heck is it that every damn car I align seems to have frozen or
nearly frozen tie rods? Like "get the torch" frozen tie rods?

Make, model, etc. doesn't seem to matter.

We put a guy on the moon. For the love of god, can't we make a tie rod
that doesn't freeze up after two months?

Mark

(and, for those of you that do this kinda work, if you have advice for
preventing freezing in the future, that'd be great. Anti-seize doesn't
seem to do anything...)

Anti-seize has worked for me. I use the silver nickel
stuff.

I used anti-seize (lightly coating the entire threaded portion of the rod) on the two
sets I
installed and it worked great. The rest of the tie rods on the winter beater had a
"nice" coat of
rust (those after-market Meyle tie rods rust at the mere thought of going out for a
drive) but I
was easily able to adjust them a couple of weeks ago.

Regards,

Rich

Good Morning,

The need has arisen to replace the Motor and Transmission mounts. I'm
just looking for any suggestions prior to this change. The engine has
decided to move off the mounts to the driver's side about 1 inch and sheered
the transmission mounts with it?

Thanks
Art

Sheesh. The guy nearly gets swallowed by the washout gully after the second
recovery. Now that would have been some footage.

Up on the left side...recover.
Up on the right side ...and recover.
But ooops...down into the washout and ... no recover!

Also, did you see the flat pan on the bottom of the X5?

As a last resort, you can source individually the two halves of the
connector as well as the individual M/F pins. But having done this let me
advise that you only want to do it if absolutely necessary. The connector on
my 8/87 iS fell apart in my hands one day and it was not "filled with some
kind of insulator."

My 1/87 325i doesn't have this connector at all (in addition to other odd
wiring differences with other E30s).

In my P-car owning experience I would not bother with a '78 SC for $10K when
there are plenty of *very* nice mid-80's Carreras around with 100K miles or
less, complete records and 8+ body condition for under $14K. At least in my
neighborhood of SoCal. The stock '85 Carrera won't win its class in our time
trials but it is very reliable and easy to work on. The beat my E30 handily
(BMW content), I am frequently tempted, but I always come to my senses.

They cannot be detached, every dealer has a supply of them for they fail
with regularity.

I bought some off eBay.

Opinions on how to best protect paint protection film (aka 3M
Stoneguard, Clearmask, Invisibra, etc.)? Regular car wax, ArmorAll,
303?

Thanks,

According to Bill Arnold, who knows a lot more about such things than I,
ANY 325i/is/ix/ic ECU (DME) can be used in any other variation of the
325i/is/ix/ic from any year, as long as the donor car had the same
transmission type (manual or automatic).
