Anyone know how to get rid of a stripped chassis.

Here's the scenario.... I would buy a parts car take out the motor ,
transmission, seats, and diff. But our local dismantlers seem unwilling to
take a car in this condition.... (no parts value to them). So how do people
get someone to take these scraps of metal?

Most any junk yard will pick it up for about $50.
Have the title handy.

Try calling a scrap metal recycler, instead of a dismantler...

I rented a body saw (~20 inch rotating disk) and cut a rolled 911 into three
sections. Loaded on a trailer and took it to the dump. $25 at the time(10
years ago). I was surprised that no questions were asked. Some junk yards
will take them for free if you deliver.

Yup. Or the wrecking yards car refer you to a local metal recycler that
will accept and crush chassis'.

We paid the local flatbed tower $60 to haul off a stripped E34 chassis.
Gary's right about having the title handy.

Try http://www.eap4parts.com. I bought a set of Bilstein sports for my E30
from them. I don't remember what I paid, but it was cheaper than anywhere
else I could find. I also just ordered new rotors from them and will
continue to do business with them. Set of 4 sports (front/rear) is $372.69
ground shipped (about $13) to MN vs. $379 without shipping on shox.com.
Good luck!

There are 6 bolts that stick through the under-side of the boot lid and it
is held on by plastic nuts. There may or may not be some adhesive. I'm not
sure as I haven't removed mine, but I can definitely see the nuts through a
few holes in the boot lid.

I have Xpel which is made by 3M on my car. They go for
$12/foot. Or you can buy the pre-cut pieces and
install yourself or have a pro do it.

It is not easy to install the pieces..Patient is the
key word.

Tom,
How about covering it with paint-protection protection film?

This begs the question: why did you install that film in the first place
if you are now obsessing about its condition?

Is it possible to use a topside vacuum type oil extraction set up (like the
Mityvac or Griot type) to drain ATF? Would this put undo stress on any
seals or displace check balls etc? I would expect it to get more fluid than
a regular pan drain.
