Hi here, Here we are again and the start of another week and I trust your weekend was good. I must apologise for the late arrival of Fridays letter. I know that it didn't get to you till Saturday - I did press the right button on Friday morning so don't be blaming me! I really am sorry but if it continues maybe we'll have to rename the Friday letter the weekend edition.
I have just been reading about these new hand held gadgets that all the kids are wanting that do games, play music, play dvd's and its just the size of a paperback book...I gather they are going to be the 'must have' for the kids at Christmas!! TONIGHT AT 6 30 ============== Don't forget to be there for all the days news and also for the final voting on the last four names for the programme. By the end of this week it will all be over and we shall know. Thanks to everyone who has entered into the fun of it and voted, we have had thousands. I wonder how it will end. It really is down to you. GET IN TOUCH ============ Don't forget if you want to write to me with any stories you think we can use on the show or if you just want to write then I would love to hear from you. Also if someone you know wants to write to me thats fine too. They don't have to be signed up to the LL just get me on e mail direct at [EMAIL PROTECTED] BEAUTIFUL SPOT ============== There are so many in our region and almost every weekend I take myself off and find somewhere else which I think is fab and this weekend it was South Ferriby. I sat by the boats at the lock there - what a great spot. I am still dithering over whether I should get a small cheap second hand boat - I would love one. But many of my work mates think I will be a disaster with one.......Cant imagine why!!! Anyway I digress South Ferriby what a great spot - I want to go back. THEATRE ======== I have just been looking at some of the great shows coming up at theatres in our region for the autumn. One of my all time favourite musicals is on the way in two weeks. Blood Brothers by Willy Russell is superb and always leaves the audience in stunned silence at the end. If you've not seen it then give it a try. By the way its unlike many musicals because it has a good strong story. ONLY ONE ========= I think I must be the only person in the TV newsroom who doesn't belong to a gym which always worries me a bit. But its too late to start now (that's my story anyway) I see the latest craze to keep fit is something called Flexibar.......I doubt Flexibar has come to Hull yet, I think its just the trendy showbiz types in London. But it will. It looks like a small bendy rod about 4 foot long, more than that I don't know. But I bet they are not cheap!!!!!! Its the latest craze. I remember when Pilate's started and I said on the air this wont catch on. Yorkshire people wont be interested. I guess I got that wrong. Talking of health I see experts have said that extra virgin olive oil can prevent inflammation in the same way as common headache pills. In doing so, they claim, it can stave off long term health problems like cancer and heart disease. I think this is good news as I love oil on salads and I must say that a little extra virgin olive oil on a Greek salad is a lot more appealing than two aspirin. LEAVE IT TO ME ============= Don't forget if you have a problem or someone you know has a problem that I may be able to tackle on the programme then get in touch with me and give me the details. SEA SHANTY FESTIVAL =================== And finally well done to all who were in involved in his years Sea Shanty Festival in Hull. I spent the day there on Saturday. Its a great atmosphere and this year I got to hear quite a few of the shanties and hear the poems. I also saw Shanty Jack appear onboard the restored barge The Syntan. Its been beautifully preserved by the Beverley group. I also (for the first time) looked around the Spurn lightship - fascinating. There is more room on that boat than in my flat. Its a great visitor attraction if you've not been yet!!! The lighthouse not my flat! Join me at 6.30. BBC1 as always. Remember the name change campaign is hotting up. All the best, Peter To sign up for the LL.
