Hello there, Hope your day is going well. I am just about OK after celebrating a certain birthday last night. Thanks to such lovely friends the 50th wasn't quite the trauma I thought it would be!!! I am suffering this morning though - all self inflicted. Thanks for all the e mails and apologies again for the lack of my letter on Friday. You wait for one to come along and then, like buses, three all came along at once! I gather from the technical guys that this is due to Friday being a very busy day on the electronic communication front! Sorry again.
TONIGHT AT 6 30 ============== Weve all been struck by the appalling situation in New Orleans. As so often with natural disasters its not long until the economic repercussions kick in. So closer to home it looks like theres bad news on the petrol front following the flooding in the south of America. And weve all got them - mobile phones I mean - but were not always so keen on having the masts that make them work in our areas. Well tonight were in Grimsby where the local people are up in arms. As well as the days news we shall have the final result on our name change voting. Last night we asked for the final vote on the last four names. The voting goes on until 3 this afternoon so if its not too late you can cast your vote on either our telephone hotline, e mail or text. Just a reminder that these are the final four names LOOK NORTH, EAST COAST TONIGHT, POINTS EAST, LINCS TO THE NORTH The results will be on the programme tonight. I will also be talking to actress Glenda McKay. Glenda is well known for playing Rachel in Emmerdale and at the moment she is in Lincoln in a play called Stepping Out. CRAZE ====== I talked yesterday about this new trendy craze for keeping fit called Flexibars. Its made the national papers and they implied it was the latest thing. But hey we are ahead of the pack in Hull. I got an e mail from Angie who told me that The Scholar's Gym at the Learning Zone at the KC Stadium have had theses bars for over a year now and they are very effective. See we are leading the way again. As I said I think I am the only one on the office not to belong to a gym but now I have reached the half century perhaps its time I started thinking about it. I hinted as well that I would love to get a boat .several people have written saying I will never regret it and that I should go for it I will keep you posted on that one. KEEP IN TOUCH ============= Always great to get an e mail and hear from you. Just a reminder that you can write anytime (and no one else will see it) if you drop me a line directly to [EMAIL PROTECTED] PHOTOS ======= Also a little reminder to keep the photographs coming in to show on the big screen every evening on the programme. The pictures can be sent either by e mail to me or post a hard copy to me at BBC Queens Court Hull HU1 3RH. THE DALES ========= Outside of our region by a few miles but still a favourite haunt of mine and just these past few weeks Ive had several postcards from people who've been holidaying up there just to make me jealous I think. I adore the Dales and my favourite spot is Burnsall. There is nothing better than a drink in the pub there and a walk along the Strid. I mention this because I have just had an e mail from John and Christine Daly who say they are just back from the Dales and they took their caravan!!! The subject of caravan's came up on the programme last night and I think I upset a few people hinting I didnt like them. I think most people knew I was just having a bit of fun. Dont take me seriously no one does here!!!!!! Better get on now .Catch you BBC1 at 630 with that all important result. Peter PS Ive got news of an invention that might put Paul out of work. You wont want to miss it.
