Hi there its Peter here, Hope your day is going well. I am feeling a lot better than yesterday .the morning after the night before and all that! Even better after reading an article this morning that has said that middle age now start at 49 (nine years later than it used to) and old age doesnt start till 65 ..so I am ok for another 15 years. I know that didnt mean much to you but it made me feel better. Thanks for the e mails on allsorts of subjects. One from Horace on the subject of a flag for Lincolnshire, he says this is not a new idea. Back in 1963, John Betjeman spoke at a conference in Lincoln where he said he regarded Lincolnshire as so singularly beautiful that it was like a separate country from the rest of England. Not only did he suggest that we should have our own flag, he also suggested that people have a passport to get in! Thanks Horace.
TONIGHT ======== I am writing early on so plenty of work is going on preparing another lively edition of Look North and it is Look North! The results last night of our name change campaign were staggeringly in favour of keeping Look North as the programme name. It was not even close. 60 per cent of the vote went to keep Look North, the other three shortlisted names managed to get the other 40 per cent of the vote. However the whole campaign was great fun and thanks to everyone who took part and placed a vote. Thank you. Now its business as usual. Its a bit like the day after the general election!!!!! On the show tonight the actress Glenda McKay, She is one of the best known faces on TV having been a central character in Emmerdale for many years. She is in Lincoln for the next two weeks in a play called Stepping Out but this evening she will be steeping into the studio with me for a chat. So try and make it as ever at 6 3O. CARAVANS ========= Ok I give in. I love all people who tow caravans and they never go slowly and no I dont want anymore offers of a holiday in a caravan!!!! As soon as I made the comments on Monday night I knew it would open up a hornets nest and I was not wrong. It was said in jest as most people worked out. I was also interested to read in the paper yesterday that Britain's highest paid female TV performer is Fern Britton and she takes her holiday every year in Cornwall in her caravan. So if its good enough for Fern its good enough for me etc. LEVY LETTER =========== Pass the word around if there is someone you know would like an e mail every day from me. All they have to do, as you know, is sign up. Please tell them to go to one of the two addresses below and just click through on the buttons. By the way coming up another exclusive competition for LL readers only. GYM ==== I hinted yesterday that now I've reached the half century maybe its time to start thinking about joining a gym. You will note I only said think about not actually anymore than that. I had an e mail from Alice who told me not to bother joining a gym-join the aerobics class at Age Concern on Monday mornings at 10.15. I am sure that this was a genuine suggestion but I am busy on Monday mornings at 10.15. Thats my story and I am sticking to it WRITE A WRONG =============== If you want to drop me an e mail you can anytime and so can anyone else even if they are not signed up to the LL. You can get me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] FINALLY ======= I also said that I have been thinking for so long about getting a boat but still have not taken the plunge. I sit at the marina and drool with envy at those who are sitting on the craft and looking so contented. Vince sends me an e mail which I am sure is very true he says: As a boater I can assure you that there is nothing cheap about boats. The definition of a boat is 'a hole in the water into which you pour money'. He goes on to say if youre not mechanically minded it can be very expensive, thats why boaters spend as much time (if not more) fixing them as they do cruising. Thats it I had better get on, dont forget to tune is at 6 3O. BBC1 as always.
