Best vantage point is likely off of Lake Bernard Park or the point at The
Northridge Inn. Red-necked Grebe and Common Loons also present.

afternoon by a gaggle of us about 200 m north east of Kettle Point proper.

At 1pm May 29th, I relocated the Western Grebe at Sam Smith park at entrance to
Marina on west end of park. Very close to shore for good looks.
Mixing with red necked grebes and sleeping.

closer to the mouth of the river. It was diving regularly and I lost sight
of it beyond binocular range.

A Western Grebe was first observed this morning upstream of Deschenes Rapids,
viewable from west end of Cassels Rd in Britannia Village but better from
Quebec side of river above the Rapids. For Cassels, take Pinecrest exit from

I observed the Western Grebe at J. C. Saddington Park this afternoon (3:45) in
difficult viewing conditions. A scope is likely required. It was to the west of
the moored ship, out past the brown water.

Hi folks... Have not seen any updates. So Yes the Western Grebe is still being
seen in the Port Credit Harbour to the Right of the Barge S.S. Ridge town,
marooned in front of the Marina. It seem to dive a fair amount and earlier in
the day spent most of the time out of view BEHIND the barge. In

Actually you can go east from the parking lot on the unpaved trail at the east
end of the parking lot, it's shorter. I usually jog going south past the lot,
then come back following the route first suggested around to the parking lot.

I was jogging through Indian Summer Trail Park around 12:30pm today and
observed what I believe to be a Western Grebe in a pond near the leash free
park. Long neck, white on the front of the neck, black on the back of the
neck, yellowish/orange pointed beak.

As of about 1:30 pm on Sept. 8, the continuing Western Grebe was still in
the bay off the most westerly point of Colonel Sam, where a red light
lamppost stands. But it was swimming closest to the Twenty Third Street
Parkette.

It was in the mouth of the harbour, where it has been seen regularly for the
past two weeks. It was associating with Red - necked Grebes.

drifted to within 20m of shore. It was near the end of the western spit.

At 2 pm today (Dec 16th) there was a Western Grebe swimming on both the MI and
ON sides of the channel off lighthouse park in Port Huron and opposite the
Sarnia waterfront. I obtained poor but readily identifiable stills and video.

Road 13 to Little Bluff Conservation Area, Prince Edward County. Look along
bluff at East side. This individual has a shorter bill than average which
can happen apparently due to diet.

At around 11:30 this morning there was a Western Grebe on the St. Lawrence
River just off the Long Sault Parkway. Seen looking south off the tip of
Hoople Island.
Also of interest were 5 Bohemian Waxwings within a larger group of Cedars
on Macdonnell Island.
The Long Sault Parkway is about 10 mi
Mark Gawn just called (9:10) to indicate that the Western Grebe is still
present on the Ottawa River. He saw the bird from the Kitchissippi Lookout on
the Ottawa River Pkwy. It was on the Ontario side of the river, moving west,
but near the middle of the river between the Kitchissippi and Des C

first arrived at the boat launch near Rivermead, it was swimming close enough
to shore to easily identify with binoculars (but then went much further out.)

The bird was present between 4:15 PM-4:45 PM, viewed well east of Hutch's,
along the beach. It was quite a ways out,and scope is recommended, but seemed
to be making its way slowly westward towards the restaurant. Thanks to the two
fine gentlemen from Long Point who put me on the bird, I didn't

about half way between Hutch's and Barangas, fairly close to
shore, at 8:15 P.M. this evening.

The Western Grebe continues to be seen off Van Wagner's Beach, east of Hutch's
Restaurant. The bird is quite distant and a scope is recommended, but it can be
seen with binoculars.
