 Hello everyone,

Lately, I have found myself playing flexible Survival, the mud. It has a
theme that I greatly enjoy--post-apocalypse with many darker, more adult
 themes.

I would like to find more games like this. I know that there is one called
Coruption of Champions, but it didn't seem accessible from the outset. It
is a game that is played in flash via the internet, and no matter what I
tried, I couldn't get it to start.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I much prefer intricate,
more involved games where strategy is involved. I like the idea of
 building
societies just as much as I like the idea of being able to rule them using
 some of those darker-edged themes.

 Thank you.

Hi Thomas,

Even though they are not accessible, I bought a pair of large about an
inch and a quarter stainless steel get naked dice from stockroom.com. I
will have to check there for adult computer games as well as at
AdamAndEve.com and shoperotic.com.

Get Naked Dice (D715)

Looking for a fun sex game? One half of the dice is an action and the
other is a body part. Roll the dice and see what sexual favor you win! Who
knows you may roll suck toes or lick neck amongst other juicy options.
A fun gift or little reward for yourself, the Get Naked Dice will
definitely bring some added excitement to the bedroom.

Re: [Audyssey] Adult Games was Huge Cave

2012-01-08 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,

Yeah, I know you can't change the chance and community chest cards in
your Monopoly game, but its for reasons like that I've been
considering writing my own Monopoly engine. It would give me
additional flexibility to completely rewrite the boards, cards, and
even the pieces to match the real board game.

Plus, I don't know if you know this, some specialized boards offer
alternative rules or game pieces that aren't currently supported by
your Monopoly game. Probably the best example of this is the Lord of
the Rings official Monopoly board game that I own here at home. Its
got some extra pieces and rules not found in classic Monopoly.

In the LOTR version of the game the playing dice have an eye where the
one would be on a normal playing die. If you are playing with the ring
piece every time you get double ones or the eye the ring moves one
square. Once it lands on Mount Doom the game is over regardless if
anyone has reached Monopoly yet. The treasurer, IE the banker, then
adds up all the properties and assets you own and declare the winner
based on who has earned the most during that game. Obviously, this
method goes much faster and changes the strategy of the game somewhat.

Another slightly modified set of rules and play on Monopoly is the
Star Wars special edition game board. In that game your objective is
to build either the Rebel or Imperial fleet with starfighters,
starcruisers, and stardestroyers. In the alternative rule set you must
declare weather you will play Rebel or Imperial thus you can only buy
properties of that type when buying up initial properties. So if you
are Luke Skywalker and you are playing Rebel even if you land on the
Death Star you can not buy that property until that player either goes
bankrupt, or he or she sells it to you. Instead of hotels and houses
you get x-wings and starcruisers for Rebel properties, and tie
fighters and stardestroyers for Imperial properties. Its a pretty big
twist of the rules and really requires some alternative AI and so on
to play the game that way.

I'm not saying your Monopoly game is bad because it isn't. I play it
quite often. However, I think if I wrote some specialized engine or
Monopoly game I could get some of these special rules and extra game
pieces that currently aren't supported by your game. Some people might
like these extras as they certainly are different from classic
Monopoly.

Cheers!

2012-01-08 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,

Oh, there are plenty of adult games around if you know where to find
them. For obvious reasons like other sex toys and adult novelty items
you can't pick them up just anywhere. You usually have to go to an
adult book store or novelty shop to find them. Not all novelty shops
have them, but some do.

I might add its not just video games either. There are card and board
games etc you can braille and play with others that have adult
oriented themes. I've not explored these too much, but I know they
exist.

However, as you mentioned like adult movies its hard to get the full
effect of playing adult games because the video games and the images
on the card games are pretty visually oriented. Although, I guess you
still might get some fun out of playing them anyway.

For instance, I've heard there is a board game floating around called
Screw. Its like clue, but you have to figure out who was in bed with
who. I guess its pretty funny because of the adult oriented rules and
messages in the game, but I've never played it myself and can't verify
it. Its a good couples game from what I've heard. Like all novelty
items though getting a hold of the game largely is dependent on where
you shop for adult novelty items, and if the manufacturer still makes
the game in the first place.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Adult Games was Huge Cave

2012-01-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,

Oh, I think I can imagine. I'm something of a liberal myself when it
comes to adult/pornographic type material weather it is books,
magazines, movies, or games. However, there are people like my
-in-laws that are willing to write me off as already sentenced to
hellfire and brimstone for not sharing there religious views on that
subject.

I'd be willing to put such games out there accept for the fact I don't
want it to reflect poorly on USA Games which I plan to run as a
commercial business. As a result public opinion matters even if I'm
willing to be rather lax or liberal about what is and is not socially
acceptable material or content for myself. Plus I know there are
minors on this list, and I wouldn't want their parents to strangle me
if their kids downloaded some adult game I created despite the usual
don't download this game if you are not 18 years or older. Like who
ever listens to that?

Although, I have some adult games in mind I could create. One of them
is based on an old console game called x-man or something like that.
You basically run through a maze, naked of course, and you have to
avoid saws, fire pits, and other traps that will kill you. If you
successfully navigate the maze there is a sexy blonde in the last room
you can...Well...Have fun with as a reward. :D

I figured rather than having the video of the guy and the blonde I
could take some anonymous audio clips from a porn movie to serve as
background audio with some kind of verbal description of the action on
screen. Although, having any of the SAPI voices reading the
description probably would be a turn off. Lol!

Anyway, one way of improving upon the classic game idea is have a
series of random girls in each room, mix them up, and build in
multiple levels and mazes so you have to do it with all 10 girls
before you win the game. Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Hi Tobias,

Yeah, I already know of the adult interactive fiction archive. I've
played quite a number of them, and beta tested Last Week Before the
Wedding when Raul created it. That said, there are better mainstream
adult games then that around.

For example, one of the porn companies, I want to say it is Vivid,
sell a number of games on DVD that have virtual sex with this or that
porn star be it Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, etc. They are mostly
accessible being able to use your remote to have her do this or that
and change angles and positions. They are cool accept of course if you
can't see it all you get is a bunch of moaning with the girl sometimes
saying what she is doing or about to do with the sex toy she is using.
It would be cool if we could have something like that but with
descriptive video service. Lol!

Cheers!

Hi Jim,

Oh, I think I can imagine. I'm something of a liberal myself when it comes
to adult/pornographic type material weather it is books, magazines,
movies,

or games. However, there are people like my -in-laws that are willing to
write me off as already sentenced to hellfire and brimstone for not
sharing

there religious views on that subject.

I'd be willing to put such games out there accept for the fact I don't
want

it to reflect poorly on USA Games which I plan to run as a commercial
business. As a result public opinion matters even if I'm willing to be
rather lax or liberal about what is and is not socially acceptable
material

or content for myself. Plus I know there are minors on this list, and I
wouldn't want their parents to strangle me if their kids downloaded some
adult game I created despite the usual don't download this game if you are
not 18 years or older. Like who ever listens to that?

Although, I have some adult games in mind I could create. One of them is
based on an old console game called x-man or something like that.
You basically run through a maze, naked of course, and you have to avoid
saws, fire pits, and other traps that will kill you. If you successfully
navigate the maze there is a sexy blonde in the last room you
can...Well...Have fun with as a reward. :D

I figured rather than having the video of the guy and the blonde I could
take some anonymous audio clips from a porn movie to serve as background
audio with some kind of verbal description of the action on screen.
Although, having any of the SAPI voices reading the description probably
would be a turn off. Lol!

Anyway, one way of improving upon the classic game idea is have a series
of

random girls in each room, mix them up, and build in multiple levels and
mazes so you have to do it with all 10 girls before you win the game. Any
thoughts?

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Adult Games was Huge Cave

2012-01-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Darren,

Lol! Well, no not all at once, but its worth dreaming about though. :D

For example, in Raul's Last Week Before the Wedding one of the tasks
is to get Ben to D.J. your wedding. Unfortunately, or fortunately, you
have to collect a number of used panties before he'll agree. That
involves getting quite a few women in the game into the sack so you
can get their panties. Its rather fun getting anywhere from six to ten
women in bed all in the same day. Its hugely unrealistic, but its an
adult interactive fiction game. Who says it has to be fully
realistic.:D

I'm thinking along those lines. There would be different stages to
complete, and instead of bosses to fight there would be women to
reward you for completing that level. the more women you get the
higher your score and the higher the game level you might reach.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Adult Games was Huge Cave

2012-01-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dallas,

Hmmm...Well, I've got several ideas but many of them would be better
as an adult interactive fiction game. Which is just as well as some of
the adult interactive fiction games I've played have pretty poorly
written storylines and there is virtually no plot to them. At least in
my case I can think of a context or decent story where the sex has an
important roll in the quest or adventure.

For example, let's assume you are a handsome prince or noble warrior
on a quest. You need to pass through the valkyries lands, but unless
you get the queen's favor you can not pass onto their lands. One of
the female valkyrie warriors captures you, delivers you to the queen,
and you then have to get her permission to pass through her lands. One
way of getting her favor might be to offer her some of your charms in
bed, and if you satisfy her you are given free reign of the lands.

In a case like that the sex is an integral part of the story, and
serves a purpose besides hitting the sack with anyone and everyone
without context. For some aif writers the sex is the only purpose for
writing the game, but I see it more as coexisting in a larger and more
interesting story or context. So if I ever did some aif text
adventures there would be more plot and combat involved leading up to
the sex scene or scenes in the game.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] Adult Games was Huge Cave

2012-01-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dallas,

That's a very valid point. One I've been saying for years. I'm a
married man, am certainly old enough for adult content, and I've
always looked at sex as a part of life. Sure, I don't believe in
exposing children to sexual content and things like that, but once a
person reaches a certain age I don't think there is any reason to hide
it and act like it doesn't exist. Far too many people get too easily
offended by books, magazines, games, whatever with a dult content in
them and I really don't know why they feel they have to throw a fit
over it. They don't have to read it, watch it, or play a game with
that kind of content if it goes against there moral principles. It
comes back to freedom of choice.

Getting back to adult games. If I see there are enough people
interested in this sort of thing I may change my mind and release some
of the projects I am working on or those I have plans on creating for
myself to the general public. I just didn't want to put up with a lot
of public backlash if I released something that was morally offensive
to my potential customers.

For example, let's say I wrote a game involving bondage and
submission. Some people are really into that sort of thing, and some
people really aren't. The bondage and submission game casts the player
in the roll of master and the female character or characters as
slaves. You might whip, spank, tie them up, and do all kinds of sexual
things to them with or without their permission. I can see why that
would be contraversial, but I also know its just a game. Just adult
fantasy at its best.

Does that mean I would actually kidnap a young woman and force her
into bondage and submission in real life? Of course not, but through a
game you can experiment with your darker side and do things you
normally wouldn't do in every day life. Unfortunately, when a
developer goes public with a game of that type he or she is likely to
be labeled as a pervert or sicko just for delving into the darker side
of sex games and adult foreplay.

Cheers!

Hi Lisa,

Grin. Hmmm...Now, that sounds like a plan. I am sure I can come up
with an adult Monopoly board. Maybe instead of buying up certain
properties like the Rail Roads you might have to buy up the top for
adult magazines like Penthouse, Hustler, Playboy, and so on. Instead
of Utilities you buy a film studio like Vivid, Wicked Pictures,
Devil's Playground, whatever.
As far as playing pieces goes maybe a list of the top male and female
film stars like Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, Stephanie Swift, etc. You
would essentially be coming up with a career mode for each of them
although I think this is more compatible with life than wih Monopoly.

Although, the chance cards for Monopoly could get really funny and
interesting. I can hear it now. You land on chanse. It reads, you
performed as a stripper at a Beverly Hills night club last night.
collect $50 from each player.

This sounds so cool I'm of half a mind to write such a board. See what
you caused. What do you think? :D

Oh yes I remember good old Leather Goddesses. I remember playing that way back

it. We eventually did get through it and for anyone who hasn't I won't spoil
the ending other than to say it's absolutely hysterical, or we thought it was
anyhow, and worth all the effort of solving the game. Haven't found anything
else in that genre I've liked enough to finish it.

Good point. It should be taken from the females point of view as well

Hi Thomas.
There is no need to use the USA games name to release all your games.
I don't suggest hiding that you are the author of the games, but you
can release them under a different name and website as a warning or
even just on dropbox.

Personally I agree with everyone on this topic. Why deny something
that is part of human nature. It is still your own choice to play the
games or not. And adult games are certainly more realistic than some
of the games with violence out there. My main issue with some adult
fiction and reading material out there is that the first thing that
flies out the window (even before the clothes) is a sensible or good
storyline. I do object to that.

Well in the days after school, when I used to play all the old
infocom games, before I had the net, I played that.
My favorite dos games were world, cosmoserve, run for president mars
and lgop, starcross and a few others.
Other than git and the html tads and hugo interpreters I never
really caught on to any of the text based if stuff for windows.

Mostly I play audio games.
Though now my life has more in it I barely have time to play for more
than a couple hours a month.

Actually I have more time but I don't care to spend it all on playing.
There was one stage where gaming was my life.
So I hardly play if games unless for whatever reason I feel like doing that.
This may change, as people go back to work, and my responsibilities
ease, though thats not likely to happen with the servicing of all the
computers for family not to mention other things, but never say never.

Hi Thomas, for what ever it's worth, I'd say just release it and don't
feel like you have to hide it. Just like I wrote the Last Week game, I
didn't hide the fact that it was me. Speaking of games I did, I also
have another one called Riding Home, which is too an adult game. I've
been working this year on a project to unadult the games for general
game play, but it got put on hold when other things in life came up. So
I still work on it here and there.

That's a very valid point. One I've been saying for years. I'm a

always looked at sex as a part of life.

Cheers!

Hi Willem,

True enough. I can always offer them up on Sendspace, Dropbox, or some
other delivery method. As I said I'll think about it, but probably
won't release anything of this type until my current projects are
completed.

As for the storyline aspect you are so right about that. One common
problem with adult material be it books, movies, short stories, games,
etc is there usually isn't any well defined plot to go along with the
adult content. Some are, in a word, down right stupid when you get down
to it.

I don't know if you ever listened to the movie Chasey Saves the
World but it was so dumb it is pethetic. Basically, some aliens come
down to earth to take it over and Chasey Lain and the other adult film
stars find out they can kill the aliens by screwing them to death.I
suppose in some sick twisted way its funny, but a classic example of a
very stupid and screwball idea just to see people have sex or to have
a reason to have sex.

With my own aif game projects and ideas its an actual game story with
sex thrown in as an added bonus rather than the other way around. Most
adult authors don't start with the story and begin with the sex and go
back and try and figure that into a story. That's why it doesn't fly
and why pornos etc are considered by many to have bad acting, poor
plotlines, and focus only on one thing. They simply go about it from
the wrong direction or angle and never make the story the central
focus of the movie, game, book, etc.

Cheers!

Speaking of Barbie, have you ever heard of Bild Lilli? You should read
the wiki page about this German doll. It's probably the template for
Barbie, and guess what, she was a sex doll.

I agree with you that there is no harmin teaching a child that men
have these parts and women have other parts. It is a natural thing,
something we are born with, and they'll learn about it sooner or
later. So why make the dolls sexless?

Well, no one said society makes sense. Its alright to hand a seven
year old boy a toy gun that looks like an M-16 asault rifle and point
it at his friend and pretend to kill him/her. However, if he undresses
his 12-inch G.I. Joe action figure and it is fully attomically correct
Hasbro will have a law suit faster than you can say lawyer. It
doesn't make sense, but that's life. I could go on forever about this

you think of selling perfect replicas of things people use to make
themselves feel good, then, oh no, we can't do that. I know this is
straying, so I'll leave it with one more comment. I think it's ok to
give kids toy dolls which have their anatomy in place. I'm not talking
sex dolls here, just regular playing dolls which can be dressed,
undressed, changed, etc, but just like they have a nose, mouth, eyes, 2
arms, 2 legs, they also have the appropriate parts in other places. They
are so detailed that they even have toes and toe nails.

Jim, I can see it now.

Me: Hey daughter, can you bring all your barbies over here?

Daughter: Why dad?

Me: Because I need to feel them up and see if any have nipples.

Seriously though, I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. I remember
one of the Barbie line coming out with pregnant Barbie and parents
didn't like that. Oh sure, it's ok for Barbie to look and dress like a

I guess the issue many people have with adult games is that they
consider playing these games some form of adultery and encouraging
loose morals. They forget that it is just fantasy. I'm sure some
people could take it that far, but most people stop taking the game
seriously once they shut the pc down. In the same way violent games
are also considered to be a form of murder to some. The reasoning is a
bit harder to explain by them though, as there are no real corpses
after you won the game.

The human imagination is boundless. Better to let it move in a healthy
way than to suppress it until it turns weird and unhealthy. I've seen
people that suppress themselves so much that they become plain strange
after a while.

Games allow us to explore things we would not consider doing in real
life. Afterward we can also think about things we learned and also
decide what we like and do not like. By playing violent games I've
learned how to better control anger (does the insane scientist ring
any bells?) It reminded me of my little brother. I'm sure there are
many other examples.

I'd be willing to put such games out there accept for the fact I don't
want it to reflect poorly on USA Games which I plan to run as a

minors on this list, and I wouldn't want their parents to strangle me
if their kids downloaded some adult game I created despite the usual
don't download this game if you are not 18 years or older. Like who
ever listens to that?

Hi Willem,

A lot of the arguments out there against pornographic content like
games naturally comes from the religious list members, because it
violates some of there basic moral principalities. In the bible, for
example, it says to even look at a woman with lust is the same as
adultry in the eyes of God. Well, if someone actually believes that
having the thought is equal as the deed itself you can see how such
people will strongly object to such material existing, because in
their minds you are causing people to carry out the act of adultry in
their minds. That's where I differ in opinion.

To me weather you play an adult oriented game, or blow away a bunch of
people in a game the act is not equal to real life. It is nothing more
and nothing less than fantasy, imagination, and thus shouldn't be held
equal to real life events. I've never killed anyone in real life, but
I didn't think twice about blowing the insane scientist away in Shades
of Doom. Does that really make me immoral?

No, not really. I have values, morals, too but they are a bit more
liberal than some. What I do or do not do in a game is separate from
my actual feelings and opinion on the subject. Adult oriented games
are no more and no less worse than any other kind of fiction in my
book.

For example, one of the aif game ideas I had is about a female police
detective who is about to bust your criminal organization up and put
you behind bars. Since you are a serious bad son of a gun you are
going to teach her a lesson. So the game would start out with you and
your thugs kidnapping her, and bringing her back to your hide out.
You'd strip her down and turn her into your sex slave. Its the kind of
game that falls heavily into the bnd catagory.

Ok, obviously this isn't something I'd do in real life. Not only is
kidnapping, rape, and non-consentual bnd pretty illegal I actually
don't believe in physically doing that to a woman in real life without
her expressed permission. Since I haven't known that many women who
like bnd I feel free to explore those fantasies through a game world,
a fantasy environment, and explore those darker lusts through a safe
outlet that harms no one. I think it is people who don't have outlets
who actually commit crimes, and do things that are socially and
morally unacceptable.

This is one of the reasons I think they should legalize prostitution.
There are places like Australia, Germany, etc who have legalized
prostitution and it is safer than most places in the world because to
get licensed those girls have to have frequent medical check ups, some
girls won't take a client without seeing his medical history, and they
run it like a business where the safety of the girl and the client are
taken into consideration. The government can collect income tax from
it, since its a legit profession, and its healthier for the guys to.
If a guy is having stress, maybe has a sexual fantasy he can't get
anywhere else, he can hire a girl for the night to play sex games. In
countries where prostitution is illegal the statistics show sexual
based offenses is much hire. I wonder why?

Bottom line, I don't think thoughts or feelings are good or bad. Its
what you do with them that makes them moral or immoral. Those of a
more religious point of view may disagree with me on that, but its my
opinion. Its what you do or don't do that counts.

Cheers!

Now, obviously you and I couldn't see that, but descriptions of what
she looks like naked could be just as erotic. Its a game I've thought

Hi Jim,

Oh, yeah. I always get a laugh or two out of playing Tripple J
Shooter. Actually, I wish there were more accessible adult games like
that around, because its an area largely untapped by developers.

For example, my dad has a game called Strip Poker. You select the girl
you want to play against, play poker, and if you win you get to see
her pose totally in the nude.

Now, obviously you and I couldn't see that, but descriptions of what
she looks like naked could be just as erotic. Its a game I've thought

Hi Bryan,

Lol! I can definitely see why that would get on your nerves. Its bad
enough that you can't see it, but even worse to have it constantly
rubbed in your face. Plus strip clubs have a hands off policy to
protect the girls from unwanted groping and drunken guys feeling them
up all night. Guys, even blind guys, need to respect those rules.

Hi Mich,

Lol! I guess I'd have to send each customer an inflatable love doll to
feel along with the Strip Poker game eh? And no reading Playboy in
braille isn't my idea of fun when I use to steel my uncles copies and
look at the centerfolds when no one was keeping an eye on me.
Definitely got more out of the pictures than the stories.

Seriously, though, there are lots of adult games out there that can be
made accessible besides the adult interactive fiction games floating
around. The Strip Poker game was just one example that comes
immediately to mind as a person could give a textual description of
the picture, tell you what pose she is in, as well as describe her.
Plus all of the come on comments the girl's make are something of a
turn on in themselves. Provided you have a good voice actress there
are lots of ways to make the game erotic enough to get some value out
of it.

Cheers!

It's kind of twisted how people today think kids watching batman handing
out a brutal beating's okay and yet anything to do with sex is wrong.
Japanese people however, seem to see this in a totally different light-
they're much more open about both sides of the issue and do not exclude
children from either violence or sexuality.

 Hi,

Speaking of adult games, in my opinion, violence is way worse than sex.
I know that is not the popular opinion but being a long time peace loving
hippie it is my opinion. So to me games where you are bashing and or
killing monsters, animals or humans would be worse for kids to be playing
than games with a bit of sexual content in them.

Hi,

Speaking of adult games, in my opinion, violence is way worse than sex. I
know that is not the popular opinion but being a long time peace loving
hippie it is my opinion. So to me games where you are bashing and or
killing monsters, animals or humans would be worse for kids to be playing
than games with a bit of sexual content in them.

It was very hard to kill him, and he was keep on winning. Luckly, I played

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
Agreed. There really aren't that many adult accessible games, and it
would be nice to see more of them developed. When it comes to the
topic of sex I consider myself pretty open minded, and believe in the
safe, sane, and concentual motto. If somebody doesn't like the sexual
content in a certain game it is their choice not to play that type of
game. If they go for that kind of game then as long as the person is
of age, and treats it as a game then I have no problem with it.
Case in point. I remember my dad owning a game called Strip Poker. You
were given a list of girls you could play against, and once you
selected one you played poker until you got her completely naked. As
you were playing the girls would throw in comments like, I bet you
can't wait to get my panties off.
All things considered it is a pretty harmless game. It is not violent,
all of the girls looked like they were 18 and over, and it was fun.
Even though the game had an adult rating it was a lot tamer than the
games with lots of blood, guts, and gore.

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
Well, a lot has to do with when and how we were raised. I know given
your age you lived through the counter culture revolution during the
1960's and 1970's when the hippies were protesting the war in Vietnam,
and preached peace, sex, love, and rock and roll. However, the
majority of our listers, including me, were born after the counter
culture movement, and what hippy values we got were passed down by
parents if at all.
As for myself the first games I can remember playing were arcade games
like Demon Attack, SpaceInvaders, Asteroids, Atlantice, and stuff like
that. By the mid 1980's I had moved onto the Nintendo with games like
Castlevania, Double Dragon, Bad Dudes, Legend of Kage, and other
fighting games. By the mid 1990's I was playing games like Jedi
Knight, Tomb Raider, Soldier of Fortune, Mech Warrior, and so on. So
it could be said I've always played violent action games without much
thought to weather or not they are right or wrong.
What I can say is that as a result I generally prefer an action game
with lots of fighting and combatinvolved. That's why a game like
Entombed will apeal to me but not to you. I'm not really bothered
about some of the gory details in the game when heads, arms, legs,
feet, hands, etc get chopped off and go flying accross the room. Some
times I laugh
at stuff like that. Especially, when one of my party members chop off
a goblin's arm, leg, or head and it goes flying accrosss the room.
However, I completely understand if people find that sort of thing too
violent, too gory, and discusting.

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
That's certainly true for some places in Europe, but probably not all.
Some years ago I had a girl friend named Silvia who was from Germany.
When she visited the U.S. she found our society too inhibited
regarding sex. For example, over here we consider prostitution a
crime, but over in Germany, where she lived, it was completely legal
and nobody seamed to have a problem with it.
She also mentioned that she often when to the public swimming pool and
swam naked. Here in the U.S.A. If you when to the local Y.M.C.A. and
stripped down naked and jumped in the pool you would be halled off for
public indecency. Again I'm not sure why Americans have such a problem
with public nudity because if you have seen one naked man or woman
you've pretty much seen them all. We are all born with pretty much all
the same private parts attached. What is so wrong about seeing what
is natural?
So, yeah, different countries and different cultures have their own
views about sex. Some are quite open about it, and others find the
entire topic of sex offensive. ven in the same country you will find a
mixture of open minded and closed minded individuals. I'm pretty open
about it, but my in-laws treat the topic like something filthy and
dirty. That no self-respecting person wil bring sex up outside the bed
room which I find a bit too closed minded and inhibited.

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Jim,
Well, I don't either, but I have a pretty good theory why that is. If
we consider that the U.S. is largely made up of Christians of one
denomination or another that's obviously going to reflect on the
public outlook on sex. Let's not forget in the 2000 and 2004 elections
most Republicans got elected by getting on the God, gays, and guns
compeign platform. Afterwards we had very stupid discussions of
ammending the constitution to define mariage as a union between a man
and a woman. As though passing a law can stop homosexual couples from
having a relationship which it couldn't.
Personally, I feel what a couple, same sex or not, does in the bed
room is none of the government's business. The churches can mind their
own business, and stay out of peoples lives. They have no business
trying to tell everyone else what kinds of movies, games, etc people
should watch or play. However, they do have an incredible sway over
American politics and to some degree over public opinion.
In countries where Christianity is not the mainstream religion, such
as Japan, you find much more relaxed views of sex, and much more
sexual content. I know the Japanese have adult oriented cartoons and
games where sex is quite previlent. Obviously, they don't have a
problem with that kind of content, but we certainly do here in the
U.S.

95. I know for certain the Windows 95 version of Leisure Suit Lary
didn't work with Jaws at all. Don't know about the MS Dos version as I
wasn't blind when that version came out. I'm not sure if my dad even
has the floppy disk for the original version any more.

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-28 Thread David Chittenden

Hello Thomas and Jim,

The US adopted the Victorian morays back in the 18th century. Those
particular morays connect very well with the conservative, puritanical,
christian culture of the christian right. After all, how better to
control people than through fear of sin?

You find something similar in China which claims no christian morays.
When you look more deeply in to both cultures, it becomes apparent that
it is all about power and control.

If I want my people to be more violent so they are more willing to fight
in wars and police actions, I will encourage them to focus on violence
so that they consider this to be the norm.

Also, I can better control people when I tell them who they can and
cannot marry (which controls who they can and cannot be legally sexual
with). When you do something which is illegal, you will tend to remain
quiet about it and hold guilt about it. This makes you more easily
controlled by those in power.

crime, but over in Germany, where she lived, it was completely legal
and nobody seamed to have a problem with it.

I know the Japanese have adult oriented cartoons and

problem with that kind of content, but we certainly do here in the

Search for keyword larry, and you'll find the one I mean.

FWIW, in terms of IF games, I have found an interpreter that can at least

Just calls itsself Adventure Games, and while can't remember off hand how I

Speaking of adult games, in my opinion, violence is way worse than sex.
I know that is not the popular opinion but being a long time peace

On the level of entombed, I will say that the purpose of the limb system was
actually to make a far more interesting and realistic form of hp and damage

Hi Tom.

I will say, the us mix of religion and right wing politics who actually get
in power and pass what are effectively deeply authoritarian laws scare me
quite a lot.

While certainly in england there are parts of the country, and members of
both Catholic and protestant churchs who would be pretty extreme (my brother
once had a horrible experience when a vicar insited a church full of people
to go and verbally yell at a man on a gay rights stand), I will say at least
it's kept out of politics and gay marriage is actually officially legal (a
friend of mine is a gay priest, - obviously one of the less extreme
variety).

appologies if this sounds like us bashing, it is just something I've noticed
rather heavily, just as disability atitudes tend to be better over there,
toleration of many other sorts isn't, such is my notion from both
public media and the americans I've talked to anyway.

I will say, the us mix of religion and right wing politics who actually
get in power and pass what are effectively deeply authoritarian laws scare
me quite a lot.

While certainly in england there are parts of the country, and members of
both Catholic and protestant churchs who would be pretty extreme (my
brother once had a horrible experience when a vicar insited a church full
of people to go and verbally yell at a man on a gay rights stand), I will
say at least it's kept out of politics and gay marriage is actually
officially legal (a friend of mine is a gay priest, - obviously one of
the less extreme variety).

appologies if this sounds like us bashing, it is just something I've
noticed rather heavily, just as disability atitudes tend to be better over
there, toleration of many other sorts isn't, such is my notion from
both public media and the americans I've talked to anyway.

Hi Jim,
Well, I don't either, but I have a pretty good theory why that is. If
we consider that the U.S. is largely made up of Christians of one
denomination or another that's obviously going to reflect on the
public outlook on sex.
Obviously, they don't have a
problem with that kind of content, but we certainly do here in the
U.S.

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Harmony,
As my in-laws are exactly that kind of people I can tell you why. In
the old testament it has prohibitions against witchcraft, magic,
divination, and that kind of thing. So even though Harry Potter, Lord
of the Rings, Star Wars, you name it are completely fictional works of
art they view it as sinful, evil, and demonic. Therefore they tend to
demonize those types of books, movies, and games regardless if it is
truly evil or not.
Case in point. My in-laws once saw a commercial for Star Wars the
Phantom Menice on TV, and as they saw Darth Maul they said he was the
devil. Never mind Darth Maul is an alien, has nothing to do with
Satanism, never-the-less that is exactly what they believe. Harry
Potter, Star Wars, and anything like that is Satanic in their opinion.
The base their belief on a couple passages in the bible that tells
them they will go to hell if they have anything to do with magic and
witchcraft.

2010-02-28 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi. Rather than respond to many messages by sending many messages, I'll
summarize what I have to say in one message. In addition, this will also
address some of the things said by others on this topic.

To Jim: Some of my friends asked me if I was taking a chance by writing
the adult game I did last year and the year before that. My response is
that no matter where I work or who my friends are, I have a personal
life and personal likes and dislikes. I don't hide the fact that I'm a
married guy, that I work for GW Micro, and that I like playing games
adult, violent, or otherwise.

To Thomas. I personally feel that sex, violence, and other things which
some find distasteful have their appropriate place, time, and type of
enjoyment. So to each their own. Trying to get stuff like this out of
the school system is just over-protecting children. While I'm not for
showing the details to children, I'm not for hiding the fact of the
existence of such things.

Speaking of adult games, I hope that those of you on the list who have
played my games have gone and voted for them if you liked them. I
believe the deadline is tonight and the web address is
http://erins.aifcommunity.org/voting

Many thanks.

Just to offer an alternative, violence doesn't bother me in the least and
never has. i was playing mortal combat, moonstone, street fighter 2 and
various other so called violent games at the age of 8 or so, in fact
the first mk game came out when i was 8 years old.

Admittedly, graphically, even mortal combat was almost more commic book
style than say grand theft auto, and the violence was mainly done in such
a way as to not be taken seriously.

I think if i had children, I'd base their playing of violent games upon
the game. Shooting aliens or gangsters, heck even fighting enemies with a
sword, fine, but running around the streets willfully committing
crimes and beating up police and inocent bystanders, probably not.

On the other hand, s/x bothers me a lot, but for personal, rather than
moral reasons which I will not discuss (this is why Cx2 has written all
the audiogames.net content for jims' games sinse i haven't played them
myself). I think I'd base a childs' playing of such games on knolidge and
maturity, but obviously these are hugely individualistic factors.

Just my thoughts, and just offering an alternative view.

It's kind of twisted how people today think kids watching batman handing

Japanese people however, seem to see this in a totally different light-
they're much more open about both sides of the issue and do not exclude

Re: [Audyssey] Adult games

2010-02-27 Thread Muhammed Deniz
I don't agree with all of you guys, because children like this saults of
games. Such as I have a frainde called Matthew, and his sighted. He plays
action games, and he I think he plays playstation games.

So in short, sports and action games, are the best of all.

The best sight for games is, audio games!
