Hi all:
I have spent the last 3 years building a K2 with all the add-ons. The
reason it took so long was that 95% of the work was being done by my 15
yr-old daughter, Zane, W2YL. She is a superb kit-builder, but she has a
multitude of interests -- especially athletics (swimming and

Hi all:
I am just doing the alignment for a recently completed XV50, to be used with
my K2. I am on the step that says: Key the 28MHz rig to provide transmit
RF to the transverter and advance R22 until you get a reading between 0.1
and 2 volts at TP5. I found 0 volts here, and adjusting R22 had
OK. Found the problem with U4 --- I blew a supply fuse. I still need
suggestions on problem 1 --- R22 has no effect on the voltage at TP5, and
that voltage is very close to 0.

Hi all:
OK, I solved the problem with no voltage at TP5.
Now, in trying to align the XV50, being driven by my K2, I note the
following:
1. The attempts to peak L12,13,14,15,16 and L17 are hampered by the fact
that if I drive the XV50 for more than a few seconds, the peak voltage

Hi all: I have just completed all the alignment steps for my XV-50.
Everything seems absolutely normal, except that I have got max output power
on 6M of about 14 watts, with 5 watts in from my K-2. Peaking the
inductors, L12-L17 was a little mushy - the peaks are there, but not very
sharp.
Hi all:
I have a strange symptom with my K2/100 (S/N 4387). For all power settings
above 0.1 but below the point at which the 100 watt amp kicks in, I get
about 20 watts output. Once I go to high power, I get the full 100 watts
output, regardless of where in the range of 20-100 the power

I have always wanted to try building one of those big amplifiers. One thing

I found Wayne Burdick's note from 2/21/14. I have not set the tuner up
properly to take advantage of the 1.63 firmware. I think this should solve
my problem once I carry out these steps. Sorry for the bandwidth.

Hi guys,
I have been having trouble logging into my LOTW account. It started last
night, then I got in this morning, now I can't get in again.
Have others noticed this? Is there an ARRL bulletin that covers these
outages?
Thanks. 73 de Brian W3BW

I find briefly touching the SUB button terminates the extra 4 seconds.

No, I restored all my working config parameters.

OK. It works with headphones, and Craig at Elecraft told me to change
SPKRS=2 to SPKRS=1, and now it works. I think it probably never worked
with the speaker, and as I always use a headset, I never noticed before.
Thanks to Craig for the help!

My KAT500 utility program shows the tuned VSWR, generally a low number, and it
also shows "Bypass SWR". Is that a reading of the feed line SWR without the
tuner in the circuit?

I had a similar problem with my K3, using RemoteRig. It was solved by changing
to the "ic" element at no charge from Heil. This was a couple years ago, so I
don't remember how I figured it out, but I do recall that the documentation was
weak in this area.
