CRF (chronic renal failure) in cats is very treatable, unless it's extremely

Probably a mind urinary tract infection... but they should probably send him
home
with antibiotics from his neuter anyways, so that will take care of both
things! Do
insist on the antibiotics... for a FELV+ cat, you really can't be too safe.

Just make sure it's a NON-adjuvanted rabies and distemper vaccine, and that the

Well I just wanted to let everyone know that after a stinky weekend of pee, Midnight will be going to the Dr. tomorrow (tuesday) morning to be neutered. They said they would also check him for a UTI just to make sure. Thanks to everyone for you advice. I am also going to get that Feliaway

know you - they can really be your friend. (not to imply that you haven't
already done this...)
At any rate -- prayers going up for you and for dear Midnight. Your love
and care for him will go a long way in making him better.
Midnight is not licensed. That is not a requirement in my county. I
was told by my vet that he is required to have rabies and distemper
vaccines in order to come into the vet for the surgery because of the
other cats. Problem #1 is that he is there for check ups with out the
vaccines. #2 he

If Midnight isn't licensed, then it is your vet that is insisting on
it. Vaccines are a judgement call. You have to weigh the protection
against the stress it might cause. You mentioned that Midnight has
already had a fever, the fact that he's already been sick
Thanks to everyone for your advice. From what I have read, I think that
he is not spraying. Maybe marking (thank God he hasn't felt the need to
claim me!) or peeing but not spraying. I called the vet about having
him neutered and they said he has to have a rabies shot and distemper.

Getting a cat neutered will often stop the spraying but I wouldn't
wait any longer, if it becomes a habit it may not stop. I have had this
happen with a few cats and they did stop after they were neutered.
