But this is starting to add for me anyway an unacceptable
time burden on statying current. i.e. I am trying to debug

Getting rid of GLUT dependencies is a good thing
even if the message in the CVS Log is a more then
a *little* scary since it 'mentions' moving to SDL

registers instead of the normal 387 fpu instructions
-O2 -march=pentium3 -msse -mfpmath=sse
Wow -- seems like a nice improvement in the fps :-)

Note that SSG and OpenGL use different representations
of Matrices.
1) SSG is row major and OpenGL is column major

Texture space shouldn't be a problem
I am assuming of course that the 'daytime' and the 'nighttime' textures
wouldn't need to be in me
Most systems are "compatable" with the STL
So this should be only be needed for those that need
a little extra "compatability" help :-))

Looks as if a recent change is always resetting the visibility
to startup value. Haven't had time to see what is doing this
This is with a this AM's CVS first update in a week or so
