You may have heard of TC Camp, the techcomm unconference, held for the
past 4 years in the San Francisco bay area .. well, we are taking it on
the road and holding a TC Summer Camp on Saturday, July 30 in the
Washington DC area! If you're in the area or within an easy drive (or
train) to Fairfa
I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
While MIF is a wonderful format for an ASCII description of a FM file,
it's really not intended for human consumption. First off, it's not
linear. Each FM object is defined in a section, and within that section
the objects are declared in reasonably orderly fash
I'm pretty sure that you'd have to have the ExtendScript open up the
Word doc in FM, then locate the portion you're interested in, copy it to
the clipboard and paste it into the FM file (and close the Word doc
without saving).
A bit clunky, but certainly doable.

Thanks Lin.
DITA-FMx can help you get FM files from DITA XML, although it's really
intended as a replacement for the built-in DITA support in FM.
Bjørn .. when you say "convert and publish xml files into FM 12," what

situation. :o
My only remotely useful suggestion would be to create an
This is a tricky subject. Definitely not clear cut, especially when it
comes to non-compiled programming languages. Here's a good summary ..

No conversion. Just "install" the structured application you're using on FM9
into FM11. Then you should be able to open the XML files.
Should be able to copy the app files to FM11 in a similar location to where
they are in FM9. Then copy the structure app definition from FM9 to FM11.

a useful thing to do. The way this used to work was to open a DITA map
in FM, then run the "build" command on that file. If you're prompted to
select a file, be sure to choose a valid ditamap file.
Good luck,
