One thing I found is that there is currently no way to target the enemy when it is on the same location as you. You have to move to one side, but then the enemy follows you and it is quite hard to line up a shot. Also, it would be very nice to have a sound effect to hear when you are poisoned.

While you're doing stuff with the pause code, I would really like to see the pause command disable all keys until it is pressed again. Right now, the press of any arrow key, ducking, etc. will unpause the game. While it may be marginally quicker to unpause, it makes it impossible to pause the game
