In both cases, you can set the stuff using alsamixer command (or with
it's gui). You'll also need to use a player which knows how to output
the channels (2.1, 4, 5.1, DTS etc). I recommend using Xine for this.

DHCP server implementation simply sucks, specially when it comes to
Linux machines receving IP's from NT machines.
My suggestion: Install any other DHCP server on your Windows machines
that works well with Linux.
