Northern Goshawk, and 1 Swainson's Hawk. With two successive days
of very strong south winds, this is probably the best landbird flight I
have ever seen here in spring:). Smaller numbers (but still impressive)
continued on Monday (eg, over 5,000 robins and 289 flickers).

The continuing Common Eider in Duluth has become a fixture at Canal Park
the last few days where it can be approached within a few feet. A detailed

Surf Scoters in this flock, leaving a total of 271 White-winged
Scoters. This gives a total of 377 White-winged Scoters (previous state high
was 150), 27 Surf Scoters (previous high was 25), and 7 Black Scoters (second
highest spring count).

Barrow’s have been all been seen at the Superior Entry. All of these species
are somewhat unusual in Duluth in mid-winter. Details of the Barrow’s

At 9:10 this morning, an apparent Band-tailed Pigeon flew by the Hawk Ridge

Significant southbound migration is already occurring on the North Shore of
Lake
Superior in Minnesota- flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds, Cedar Waxwings, Great
Blue Herons, Bank Swallows, Purple Finches, Evening Grosbeaks, etc. have been
moving down the shore for over a week.

At 9:18 this morning I refound a third-cycle Slaty-backed Gull at Canal Park in
Duluth, St. Louis County. This is the same individual I originally found on 28
October 2009 on the Minnesota side of the Superior Entry in Duluth while

The highlight of these three days was a single
immature blue morph type Rosss Goose seen with a
flock of 88 Rosss Geese (interestingly, this flock
