I'm still looking at scanners. I think I'm going to go with the Epson

looked and it appears to be just what I'm looking for. And the price
is right.
But I noticed that the Epson package no longer includes Photoshop

scanning. Use what you like there. While you
can do a lot of the basic capture needs in the scanning software, scanning
software should be used to capture the data as best possible, not edit or
finish render it.

So as long as the Epson software will run by itself I'm good to go.

You have to set a menu item to allow aperture settings other than A. Then, when
shooting you set the aperture and push the green button to get a shutter speed.
Same is true, of course, for K (SMC Pentax) lenses.

As far as aperature readout is concerned, wouldn't
that be a function of camera software? I don't see how
it would require a new mount to be able to correctly
read an off-the-wall aperature setting.

paper
and TTL flash and motordrive were high priorities for me. So after long
consideration I decided to stick with Pentax and bought a pz1p. Now three
years after I bought my first pz1p I am now photography editor at that same
paper own 2 pz1p's and many many lenses and other accessories.

My assistant photographer needs an af500ftz. Anyone
out there with one they'd like to part with for a
resonable price? TIA.

Not if he's using a 28-70/2.8, right?

If you think about how colors translate to grey scale
confirm that this is how the data back operates?

There would be a problem with getting the shutter and CCD
for the children's portrait outfit. I've learned to listen to the
motor drive of my camera, when I hear it getting sluggish it's time to throw
in another battery.
BTW, there is a modern camera with manual film rewind... The Nikon F5.

The lens is very good. Sharp, little falloff. My only complaint is that it's
closest focus distance is really pretty far. Can't remember exactly what it
is... By the way, both I and Mick have one of these lenses for sale. Let us
know if you're interested.

Nice little lens. Excellent condition optically and mechanically. $130
shipped within continental U.S. Will consider other offers. I used it
primarily for sports (ie- basketball), but since I now have an 80-200/2.8 I
don't think I'll be doing so anymore.
