Hello All,
I thought I remembered different discussions topics about these two things.
Does anyone remember them and the information about replacing these parts?
I'd appreciate your help. I have searched Tom Patterson's site, but have
not been successful.
Thank you for your help.

Subject: Rodents?
In the latest "Blue Beret", in the B-Van column, they say that you can use
"Blood Meal" (supposedly a common fertilizer) to keep rodents away from
your trailer. They say to put the stuff in plastic cups that have holes
punched in the lid, and that you should place these cups in various places
around your trailer.
Has anyone actually tried this?
If so, does it work?
Does the Blood Meal have any odor?
Any comments are welcome.
Dave
I had a problem with chipmunks as my '59 is parked in the mountains. They
got into the undercarriage. I patched the biggest openings with alum around
the step, and wheel wells so that everything was operational but less
vulnerable to entry. I also stuffed moth balls in the openings underneath
and have not had the problem reoccur.

Subject: Re: replacement license plate holder & light, and police style radio antennae
Greetings Cindy!
I don't know whether the 1959 utilized the same style license plate
holder and light as the 1964, but if it did the part (at least visually
similar) is available from Airstream. I purchased one of these for my
1964 and from an appearance and functionality standpoint, it is
identical to the original - - from a quality standpoint, it is not - -
after less than two years on the coach the replacement has begun to rust
and looks as bad if not worse than the 36 year old part that it
replaced.
Again, if the 1959 used the same 109" whip style antenna that the 1964
used, it is possible to restore with the exception of the base. The
base is larger than any of the current models that I have been able to
find. The solution on my coach was to steel wool the base to remove
scale and prepare it for paint - - then it was painted with a rust
preventative silver paint - - the mast was replaced with a near
identical unit from Radio Shack - - the whip retainer clips are also
available from a well-stocked Radio Shack and have the same appearance
and durability as the orginals.
Good luck with your project!

Is the penetrating epoxy stuff sufficient to
"sturdy up" a soft floor at the door? the soft
spot is about 2 feet square.

There is no pat answere to your question it depends on just how soft the
floor is is the aera THOURLY DRY. and a number of othe factors normaly I
would suggest that you drill a number of 1/8in holes part way through the
aera on a 1 to 1/2 grid to allow the epoxy to thourly pinitrate the aera and
wet out especially good along the outer edge as to seal the outer edge if i
were doing it I would get some laminating epoxy and lay an aera of 6 0z cloth
over the bad sopt to further rastor the floor.the materials cand be had quite
resonably from fiberglass coatings in St Petersburg Fl.

i took another look and i'm pretty sure i will
need to do some sort of patching or section
replacement just in fornt of the door. the
flooring that the previous owner ripped up took
some layers of the plywood with it leaving it
very thin and sketchy - and there are some badly
placed bolts that appear to be doing nothing
functional.
i will post pictures in a week or two and re-ask
for advice then.
