Anyone have this problem with an open mic inside the radio? When I am on
52.795 mhz, I get a signal of s-3 and when I turn up the volume, it
squeals. I can actually speak through the bigger grille opening on top of
the radio and
good morning,
the KRX3 arrived and I installed it yesterday. After doing the VCO calibration
and filter settings it is working fine.
I have observed two things that are not clear to me so I wanted to ask if this
is the same at your K3's.
When I switch SUB on and I have the antenna shared

are the birdies dependent on bandwith also?
yes they are. I can see them on the Panadapter very easy, and they jump

I built my K3 about 2 months ago and have now made a couple of thousand
QSOs with it and am very satisfied.
Question: Should I upload the latest software?
yes.
What is the latest NON BETA version that is stable and works?

I am trying the latest beta firmware with my K3 in Pactor mode.
Like in a former try I encountered a problem, when I activate the -s
Parameter in DATA A USB mode.
My transceiver is sending 2.5 kHz higher than the dial display says.
With the first try all was ok. Then I started to try different

My K3 speaker performs flawlessly and puts out wonderful audio until NR is
turned on. It then produces some shrill resonances at some frequencies.
I find these resonances disappear when using NR on external speakers. I

hi all,
has anybody connected a Ptc-2 to the K3 and how this was done?
I think I could use Line in / Line out and PTT in.
Line is stereo, should I use the tip? or connect tip and ring?
any comments on how this should be done and how does it work?

Gill,
It is at least from #656 because my unit was affected too.
The mod is easy done with the instructions from Elecraft.

If you have a serial no between 660 782 you need to do the mod for
grounding the front panel mike connector.

I have set Config VFO OFS to ON to use the VFO B for fast tuning, but it no
longer works. I know it did, but no more.
VFO OFS to off or on changes nothing.
I have the latest firmware loaded.
RIT/XIT are off of course.
does anybody know what could be wrong?

Or maybe just require two presses of VM? That's the way one of my talkies
works. When I hit VM, the memory number flashes. Hitting VM again
stores the info in that memory.
I find this a very good proposal.

I have the impression that with the NR engaged the overall volume is much
lower than without. Is there a possibility to adjust the audio volume / gain in
the NR settings somewhere?
I have seen this in the K2 DSP for rtty mode.
Next question: 2 of my friends who tried the K3 this afternoon think
hi Bill,
I have tried a Plantronics Computer Headset in the past with my K2.
I made an adapter like you did but with the internal 5V bias.
Audio reports were worse than with the dynamic Kenwood microphone I
used before.
I tried this special microphone because G4ILO recommended it on his
