[Audyssey] philips sgc2910 game pad qquestion

2009-03-27 Thread Valiant8086
I tried to get an sgc2909 but they're discontinued according to the walmart
store here, so I got an sgc2910 which appears to be the same thing but
wireless, for 20 bucks flat. The vibrators on it are giving me problems. I
can't change the velocity of those motors from the controll pannel/game
controllers. It has a page in the properties dialogue that says to move the
left stick to get the vibrators to run, I can do that and I can change it to
100 percent velocity, up from 58 where it was by default, and hit apply, the
motors stay on continuously that way, that's how I want it. now I can hit ok,
then ok again to clcose that dialogue and I get an error about the application
not being able to find the memory referenced at 0x you get the point. It's a
rundll32 error. One time It didn't stopp with rundll32 and went through a don't
send error for good measure, and finished off with a drwatson error, after
which I exhasporatedly just rebooted my comp, which didn't help much. When I go
back there again, the velocity for the vibrators are back to 58, not 100. When
I open topspeed the vibrator moves more slowly than I remember the one for my
recoil pad going, it just barely seems to move, and seems to perform
iratically, sometimes the vibrators get going and sometimes they just click and
don't go anywhere. You know how topspeed makes the vibrators go, it kicks them
on and off really quick, well if thhe controller is set at 58 percent, it does
that by itself, so if you have thhe game kicking the vibrators on and off, plus
the controller trying to do the same thing, sometimes it vibrates and sometimes
it doesn't. If that makes sence. When i close topspeed I get another rundll32
error. On my sony vaio laptop I get no error but the vibrator velocity won't
save there either. It's all sluggish on topspeed and when I go back to the
properties dialogue again for the controller it is again 58 percent. I have
downloaded drivers from the philips website, probalby the same thing that was
on the minny disk. Nothing seems to help. Anyone got any ideas? Are there
similaar problems with the sgc2909? I'm having this problem on two differentg
computers, but only one of those two is printing error messages, the other one
just isn't letting me change settings.

Hope yall can handle the typos, tis late and I think I'm a little too lazy to
fix them all atm.

In using a mouse would it be possible to make shapes signify key
combinations?
With left and right motion signifying walking, a quick upward movement
followed by a left or right movement could signify a jump.
A counter clockwise circle could signify holstering your weapon,

Well, you can give it a try. Try googling the emulator zone and see what you
come up with. The ps2 emulator at the top is the one I recommend - or the
second one, I can't remember now.

Jeepers, I'm running a core2duo 2.4ghz with a fairly decent video
card, but a mere 2gb of ram, so ps2 emulation isn't looking too
hopeful.

I googled EPSZ emulator and came up with ePSXe (note the different
spelling). Seems like a pretty popular choice but I just wanted to
check that's the program you meant in case there's some lesser known
project I've missed.

Hi all,

Just having a massive clear out of my place. I came across a stack of
old playstation titles, and a few for ps2. I don't own a console

Yes they are.
The ps2 can also, for some games anyway, make faster load times and such.

Re: [Audyssey] can anyone recommend good ps1 or ps2 emulators?

2009-03-27 Thread Scott Chesworth
Jeepers, I'm running a core2duo 2.4ghz with a fairly decent video
card, but a mere 2gb of ram, so ps2 emulation isn't looking too
hopeful.

I googled EPSZ emulator and came up with ePSXe (note the different
spelling). Seems like a pretty popular choice but I just wanted to
check that's the program you meant in case there's some lesser known
project I've missed.

Cheers

For anybody who did not get to fill in their brackets before the tourney

Again sorry.
I will post again, when the football season starts on on this list.

In using a mouse would it be possible to make shapes signify key

With left and right motion signifying walking, a quick upward movement

A counter clockwise circle could signify holstering your weapon,

And a quick down and up motion could signify picking up an object.
Rolling the mouse off your mouse pad could signify ducking,

Hi Bryan,
You will want to use the parascope when you are between 20 and 40 feet of
water. You are two low to use the conning tower for a lookout, and heigh
enough that you can use the scope to keep an eye on enemy ships. Typically
I tend to travel at 30 feet with the scope up so I can be low enough to
evade enemy fire, but be high enough to use my engines for maximum
speed/maneuverability.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for responding so quickly.

That's very good advice. But, I've tried holding down the left alt,
control, and down arrow keys but it doesn't work for me. Smith crouches,
but just sits there. That key combination doesn't make him continually
walk backward while crouching. Now, if I hold down the left alt, shift,
control and down arrow, that works except I"m not sure if Smith stays
crouched all the time.

I'm wondering if I have an earlier version of Monkey business. Is there
anyway to tell which version you have installed?

Hi Thomas,
I am glad you commented on the serious part of my message.
I do think moving the mouse forward then over would mirror what your

After some trial and error this would make jumping more intuitive with the

Re: [Audyssey] The fun little mouse, was:: MOTA Mouse Support

2009-03-27 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Che,
Well, the main reason I was using the left button to jump and the right
to run was the fact that all the weapon keys are easily accessible from
the left hand. This means you could use your right hand with the mouse
exclusively for moving and your left to shoot, pick up items, and switch
inventory items, etc. In my opinion that seams like an ideal way to play
the game.

Smile.

Che wrote:
Yah, I agree with Dark here, the mouse shouldn't be used just as a
replacement for keys only. The unique abilities of the mouse should be
utilized as much as possible to take advantage of its possibilities,
something that is going to take thinking outside the box.
I think Thomas mentioned using the mous buttons to jump, but why not
have the left button fire the weapon, scroll wheel change inventory, and
right button holster and unholster weapon? Then a modifier key could be
used for jumping in conjunction with the mouse.
Just a suggestion, but there are all kinds of possibilities that would
attract the gamer to use the mouse if it were more than a simple
replacement for pressing keys.

Re: [Audyssey] using the deck gun with LW

2009-03-27 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Michael,
Well, using the deck gun is tricky and requires quite a bit of practice.
First, thing you need to do is center your target using the left and
right arrow keys. Then, you need to raise or lower the deck gun with the
up and down arrow keys to get the proper range. You'll never get an
exact range but you will know if it will hit the target when the beep is
high pitched. The long and short messages are there to let you know if
you will over shoot or if your shells will fall short of the target.
When in doubt try and go for about 50 long so your shells will hit the
target and if you are attacking a moving target keep it in range longer.

Hi Bryan,
You will want to use the parascope when you are between 20 and 40 feet
of water. You are two low to use the conning tower for a lookout, and
heigh enough that you can use the scope to keep an eye on enemy ships.
Typically I tend to travel at 30 feet with the scope up so I can be low
enough to evade enemy fire, but be high enough to use my engines for
maximum speed/maneuverability.

Re: [Audyssey] The fun little mouse, was:: MOTA Mouse Support

2009-03-27 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Dark,
Yeah, I see your point. You are aiming for speciality rather than
generality. The only disagreement I have with that point is this.
Currently there are a lot of gamers out there who are afraid to try the
mouse, uncertain about using it as an input controller, and just
hesitate to try it for one reason or another. Maybe they see it as
confusing, difficult, whatever do to their lack of experience using a
mouse in general. As a result if mouse support is only used for
specialized purposes such as a gestures game, a fighting game, etc it is
going to give off the impression using the mouse is hard and tricky to
use, and maybe that is all a mouse can be used for. Giving someone a
simple game to try the mouse with might get them use to using a mouse,
let them relax, and learn very basic mouse techniques before trying a
game where the mouse support is harder/trickier to use.
Then, there is the side issue that I am currently performing research on
cross platform games. Based on that research thus far keyboards and mice
are universally supported on Windows, Linux, and Mac computers. However,
joysticks, game pads, and so on are not. On Linux, for example, I've
found joysticks is very hit or miss. Some work fine with the generic
Linux joystick drivers and some don't work at all. Point is universal
joystick support is unreliable outside the Windows environment were the
mouse is very reliable. As a result when i do begin work on cross
platform games I'll have to take that into account.
Finally, I think the mouse is fairly comfortable to use. Sometimes when
holding down the arrow keys to run, walk, etc my fingers cramp up. That
hasn't happened when moving left or right with the mouse. So again this
might come down as a deciding factor for someone playing agame.

Smile.

Re: [Audyssey] MOTA Mouse Support

2009-03-27 Thread Phil Vlasak

Hi Thomas,
In using a mouse would it be possible to make shapes signify key
combinations?
With left and right motion signifying walking, a quick upward movement
followed by a left or right movement could signify a jump.

A counter clockwise circle could signify holstering your weapon,
while a clockwise circle would draw your weapon.
And a quick down and up motion could signify picking up an object.
Rolling the mouse off your mouse pad could signify ducking,
and throwing your mouse against the wall
could signify quitting the game.
smiles,
Phil

Re: [Audyssey] Poison arrows in Monkey business

2009-03-27 Thread Ann

Re: [Audyssey] MOTA Mouse Support

Hi Chrissy,
Smile. I definitely wasn't planning on replacing keyboard support with
the mouse. I was merely looking into everyone's interest in having
additional mouse support as an alternative that can be enabled/disabled
in the game's options menu.

Chrissy wrote:

here on my pc I don't even have a mouse hooked up but I do own one. grin
i once tried a game on the net with mouse support and somehow always
managed to lose track of where it (cursor) was and ran out of space on
the desk here lol.
but i understand what you are saying. since mota is not a three
dimensional game controlling with a mouse would not be so hard I assume.
so make it an option in the final game and I promise to try this :)
