Re: [Audyssey] Bug in the Sarah Game.

2015-11-18 Thread Phil Vlasak

Lori,
It has been a while since I programmed the game.
The diselutionment charm only keeps the creatures from seeing you or
attacking you. If you bump into them, they will still scare you and take
your energy.

There is a document in the folder that lists all the magic items and where
they are located.

I think I named it either
scw-walk-through.txt
or
Sarah-walk-through.txt
On the dungeon level There is a total of 5 Goals:
potion1, potion3, cloak, headless hat, broom1
spoiler
space
Potions classroom, potion
Potion professor's office, old potions book
Potion professor's private store, potion
dungeon, invisibility cloak
Slytherin common room, broom, headless hat

Hi guys, I've been playing the Sarah game and when I was in the dungens,
although I have the potions book, the broom and the cloak, the game still
tells me there are magical objects to find. What am I missing? I was
wondering if the broom cupboard should have a broom, but if so it's not
showing up.

Also I've noticed 2 of the 3 statues on the ground floor seem to be bugged
as they don't lead anywhere when I go through them. I hit the w key and
I'm told I'm either in a class room, or the ground floor corridor, but I
can't go anywhere and have to apperate out.

There was also a wierd thing when I cast the diselutionment charm while in
the large dungen with all the food. I had Sarah say the spell, and got
passed nick and Peeves no problem, but then Bins showed up on the staires
and seemed to see through it as I lost some energy, that's a really freeky
voice to hear at midnight on a cold winter's night by the way lol. The
charm was still active as I could hear the music still playing, but he
still got me. :( Is anyone else having these issues? Thanks from Lori.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for confirming the bug. Hopefully Jim will fix it. From what it
looks like to me Jim has not added any error checking to his game for
input and if an invalid key is pressed the game simply crashes rather
than handling the invalid input gracefully.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I found a serious bug in Jim Kitchen's Life. When the game prompts you
to enter the number of the player to Sue for Revenge if you
accidentally bump another key such as an arrow, space, etc it gives an
out of range error and then fails to resume the game. I was wondering
if anyone was aware of this bug?

Cheers!

You didn't get it that bad.
I found a winchester and a brouning, was able due to finding a couple
cans of desel to get fully armoured and have most of my fieldpack
full about 3 kits.

I decided to track down a few zombies.
zombies were right there while turning but when I turned to face them
or in fact items there was nothing they were far away.

While trying to handle a tyrent I ran out of ammo.
I tried to reload, but either the game was being a beeper or the
keyboard was locking.

I managed to axe the tyrent to death but used all health kits.
I had 10 points on my board.
Run, run, run.
Damn, a standard zombie appears.
Hmmm he is close.
How he is real close, time to kill and get more rep.
Ofcause one chomp and I was lunch.
I lost everything, had enough rep left to get more ammo for my glock
19 but it was all gone.
I have never played quests either because I have never managed to
power the bridge right or handle buildings at all.

Re: [Audyssey] Bug in Swamp

2012-05-06 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

Sorry to hear about this. But the answer is very simple. When you die, you
lose everything you have collected up to that point. When you come back, you
have 1 med kit, 1 field kit, 1 pistol, and 55 9 mm ammo.

So, there are 2 things you can do.

1. Buy it.

2. Find it.

It doesn't get any easier than that.

Good luck.

Hi Simon,

My apologies. You definitely have an older version of 1.2 because what
happened was is I accidently named a few speech files incorrectly, and
it was only after the release that I went back in and renamed said
files, bundled a new setup, and then uploaded the new setup to the
site. However, thanks to several website revisions, moves, etc I'm not
sure which 1.2 setup I put up there. So I'll have to check it out and
if its the wrong one upload the newest setup file to the website.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] bug in auto pilot in final conflict?

2012-03-05 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

HI thought I fixed that problem ages ago. It wasn't that the
files didn't get recorded but I named them incorrectly and simply
going into the games installation folder and renaming the files to the
correct name fixes that bug. that's why I am mistified.

I know I fixed that issue because when I install and play STFC 1.2 on
my machine I don't get those errors. However, when I uploaded the
STFC setup file to the website I may have uploaded the older one by
accident. That's all I can figure.

Cheers!

I think what he's referring to are some missing sound files. When the
game switched from Kate to Karen, some files didn't get recorded at all,
so when they get played things break left right and center. I believe
they were referring to the cardassian and romulan space. At least, I
remember when the autopilot was heading toward romulan space and you
checked its status it'd break.

Re: [Audyssey] Bug in Swamp

2012-02-08 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

This depends on what version you are playing. If it is version 1.8 , the
sounds are there but the missions and warehouses are not available. If it is
version 1.9 test, you must first join a mission. Then when it launches, you
will be in a warehouse and you have to collect so many crates to accomplish
the mission.

In fact, there are a few sounds and files in the 1.8 version that are not
incorporated into the game. One of those being grenades. Which many of us
are waiting on pins and needles for.

Hi,

The bug about a zombie spawning inside the safe zone has happened before.
when aprone knows about it, he removes the offender. So no need to remove
and reinstall, it's not you. In fact. There was 2 of them inside the safe
zone. How do I know, my sighted son who plays, told me.

What can you do about it? Nothing. Just avoid them till they are gone. If
it

happens again, and you get hit inside the safe zone, walk away from the
zombie. Remember, you can not attack inside the safe zone.

As for the beacon issue, that one is strange. Do any of your other beacons
work? Try again and see if it works.

saying I can't attack in safezone though it still uses the kit.
As long as I am in the zone I never use my kit, but once outside
ofcause its normal.

I am not sure if I get the health boost or not but assume this does happen to.

Hi,

Just got another bug to report.

I was on the outside of the safe zone. On the north side by the west corner.
I pressed my left mouse button and it said I could not attack in safe zone.
I had to side step a couple of ticks in order to fire.

missed a few. It seems to be working well now, so the messages will look a
little nicer when I post the next update.

It depends on how the program sets their variable statement. Like, if
the number is 0, then say "There are no" If the number is one, then say
person" If greater than one, then you can say people. So there is
something related to programming here.

I should be able to fix those with the next update. It's also been brought to
my attention that I may have broken mission 1 while I was working on mission 4,
so if anyone has had any trouble with mission 4 immediately ending in defeat, I
plan to look in to that issue as well.

Re: [Audyssey] bug with castaways mission 4

2011-09-15 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
Nice catch Alex, I will have that fixed for the next update. I think I forgot
to code part of the mission 4 code for pressing shift G, so it is confused and
spouting incorrect messages.

I've been trying to add a little to the game with each new mission, so that is
why the tudor houses aren't available in mission 3. I've been allowing tome
upgrades to work in all missions, but I'm reluctant to change available
buildings for existing missions because it would require them to be balanced
all over again. I think even something as small as the tudor house would make
a large change on how easy or hard mission 3 ended up being.

2011-09-15 Thread john

About having walls in all missions:
I think that while it might be handy, the real point of
mission one is to get the ship finished before the goblins get to
you. As you can't loose soldiers to them, (or at least that's the
way it was several versions ago when I last played mission one),
having walls would make the mission ridiculously easy.
Hopefully this message makes sense, I'm a little skeptical
as I write it.

From: alex wallis when the zombies turn up on your land, and you press shift g, you
are
firstly told there are goblins on your land, and then the
location where

the zombies are.
and then, at the end you are told there are no invaders on your
land,

lol.
I think it would be good, if we had access to tuda houses in
mission 3

as well as 4.
in fact, perhaps it would be good if we could build walls and
tuda

houses in all missions.

Re: [Audyssey] 'bug' in darkgrue.

2011-08-17 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Dark,

Well, I don't think saving a page in favorites or writing down the
page number is necessarily cheating. Every modern game today has some
way to save the game, IE some sort of checkpoint system, so you can
backup and start over from your last saved position in case you screw
up.

For instance, take Sryth. That's an online gamebook/RPG, but nobody
expects you to start over from scratch just because some ugly ogre or
giant bashes your head in. Instead, the game takes a rune of life away
and transports you back to your last saved position and you can start
from there, and hopefully fair better the next time you try that
adventure. So saving a page or creating your own checkpoint in a
gamebook isn't much different as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes it is
down right necessary in very long gamebooks or quests.

Cheers!

I must confess, the one thing I do do myself with gamebooks is save the game
occasionally, usually after acquiring some big item or goal.

this is fairly easy to do, just by adding a page to favourites in html books
or, when playing physical books with my friend we just note the page number
and keep a copy of our stats.

This is probably slightly cheating, but sinse often the alternative is the
frustrating business of going over previous choices again and again, it does
make things a litle more interesting to go from the last savepoint instead.

Pluss, with some of the larger books, it just is less practical to play the
hole thing. For instance windhammer from chronicles of Arborell is 650
sections, which makes for a pretty mega gamebook!

I've finished that one several times, and died many more, but I don't think
i'd have been able to explore all the various passages and different ways
around if I hadn't saved at a couple of significant staircases.

In fact what is interesting with windhammer, is that for my first couple of
goes through, I just couldn't find all three items needed to vanquish
windhammer.

Luckily I had a high enough combat score and some other bonuses to be able
to do it with less than three, but for several goes through, the full three
items, dragonseye, morgen's spear and dragon claw illuded me (particularly
the dragon claw, finding that was a real pest!).

Even though i'd finished the book before therefore, it was actually really
qite an experience when I had all three items, and could complete it
properly.

Ironically, just after I finished it and finally! found the dragon claw, the
quest for the orncrist game was released which tells how the dragon cclaw
actually got into the castle of stoneholme in the first place.

Hi Druhv.

It's not a bug in darkgrue, it's simply the way htlm works. You can do just
the same thing in the html gamebooks from arborell.com or project aon.

Rememb er that gamebooks are based on original printed books where you could
just turn the pages back.

Yes, this relies on the player being honest, but if your not going to play
honestly, why play?

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for letting me know about that. I actually had not designed one to

quickly. I will either get rid of the exit thing or fix it.

Thanks again.

Hi Jim and list,

after downloading version 2 today, I played the game for real for the
first time.

Well, I made it to level 7 and now I am stuck.
When I got to level 7, I exited the level to read the instructions
first. The game announced my score from level 6 first, which I just
completed. Then it just said "on level 7" and nothing more, and nothing
I do brings me out of this state where nothing happens, even after
closing and restarting the saved game. It's just stuck there.

Well, I'm quite frustrated right now, because I spent literally hours to
get so far and now it looks as if I have to start over because of this.
*sigh*

Well, thought I'd at least bring it to your attention, so maybe you can
fix this and spare others such bad luck. *smiles*

Best regards
Sarah

The saved game will be very useful, yes. What could be happening is a backlog

the messages for those deliveries get spread out for several ticks after they
actually happened. You can press the tilde, or backslash key to hear

Hi aproan,
I think it was my mistake, the ship already had its vegetables, I got I
think one message after saying vegetables were dropped off at the ship
and that was it.

I just beat my game, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
I didn't get the message again after one or two times.

well alex, usually when this happens the materials just get taken to the
store house, and certainly that stores firs (check with the x key).

However if it was just yarn you mean, then I'm not sure sinse there is no
yarn catagory in the storehouse from what I can gather, though there is one
for flour.

Hi list.
I just found a rather serious bug with production, at least I think its a
bug.
the issue is as follows, I assume this problem probably affects all second
and third stage jobs.

I noticed it however in the production of cloth.
I suddenly realised that my taylors kept weeving animal fur into yarn,
even though the textile had the maximum possible yarn, so the yarn the
taylors were weeving was literally disappearing.
of course, this meant the amount of yarn never went down, and the taylors
never wove the yarn that was already there.
In the end I closed the textile to new supplys, but I think this is a bug
that should be fixed.

Re: [Audyssey] Bug in latest Lunimals

2011-05-12 Thread Jeremy Kaldobsky
I've just uploaded another version. I've already confirmed that this finally
fixes the window eyes support, though I'm sure, somehow, it won't work for
everyone using window eyes. I'm just being pessimistic, hopefully it'll all
work now. I've also taken another shot at getting JAWS to work. I think I was
looking at old documentation because when I started over, I'm absolutely
certain the stuff I found last time said something different. Hopefully this
will work for JAWS now too, so please let me know if you use Jaws and it works!

The update is the same link as always.

Speaking of solar panels. I have an
idea.

What about breeding pens. You can only have one. It

costs

50 to buy, and can be used to produce a species at

1.5

the normal rate, but it uses 5 power per turn. If it

is

switched off or a new species is introduced there

should be

a price for getting it back up and running.
What do you think?

Hi Aprone,
Perhaps this is me being overoptomistic,

but I

tried to

restore my saved game from Mission 3 of

the

earlier beta of

Lunimals with the latest one. I had

gotten to the

point where I should be breeding birds

and

rabbits, but

somehow managed to lose all my power.

The solar panels

didn't seem to be charging properly, and

so I

was in a catch

Is this an artifact of the old save?

Hi Aprone,
Jaws doesn't seem to be working on this end of things. Sorry to
disappoint.

Hi Jeremy.
If you miss a payment, the game gives a runtime error.

Hmm, interesting idea. I'll give it some thought and
see how the idea would fit with other parts of the game.

Speaking of solar panels. I have an
idea.

What about breeding pens. You can only have one. It

costs

50 to buy, and can be used to produce a species at

1.5

the normal rate, but it uses 5 power per turn. If it

is

switched off or a new species is introduced there

should be

a price for getting it back up and running.
What do you think?

Hi Aprone,
Perhaps this is me being overoptomistic,

but I

tried to

restore my saved game from Mission 3 of

the

earlier beta of

Lunimals with the latest one. I had

gotten to the

The solar panels

Hi Jeremy.
If you miss a payment, the game gives a runtime error.

Hmm, interesting idea. I'll give it some thought and see how the idea would
fit with other parts of the game.

Speaking of solar panels. I have an
idea.

What about breeding pens. You can only have one. It costs
50 to buy, and can be used to produce a species at 1.5
the normal rate, but it uses 5 power per turn. If it is
switched off or a new species is introduced there should be
a price for getting it back up and running.
What do you think?

Hi Aprone,
Perhaps this is me being overoptomistic, but I tried to
restore my saved game from Mission 3 of the earlier beta of
Lunimals with the latest one. I had gotten to the
point where I should be breeding birds and rabbits, but
somehow managed to lose all my power. The solar panels
didn't seem to be charging properly, and so I was in a catch
22 situation.
Is this an artifact of the old save?

Re: [Audyssey] bug in mota

2011-05-06 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Lori,

Well, we've been thinking of something like that. One of the things I
want to do is add specialized features to the side-scroller that the
3d version wouldn't have and features to the 3d version that the
side-scroller wouldn't have. One of the ideas we have had is by adding
an arcade mode to the side-scroller, and not adding it to the 3d
version. That way the games would have two different modes or styles
of playing beyond just a 2d vs 3d format.

Hi Lori,

Yes, I had to fix that bug. Wink.

As far as scoring goes MOTA is not an arcade game so there is no
scoring in the game. I didn't figure the game really needed it. So in
answer to your question there is no key asigned to check your score
although the engine does support scoring if I ever wanted to add that
feature at some point.

Hi Tom.
I have also experienced this a couple days ago.
Also while playing yesterday my health was poor so I took a potion which didn't
work
as sometimes happens, then I found some armour which returned my health to
excellent. Is this supposed to happen, because it didnt make sense to me. Then
I became invincible to attack until I fell in a pit lol.
Hope this makes sense.

Hi lori,

Well, I really don't know what to tell you. I have tried a number of
times today to reproduce that problem and it works perfectly here.
Maybe uninstall MOTA and reinstall it fresh?

As you are the only one so far to report this problem I'm given to
believe it could be a bad install or something. Especially, since I've
got beta 18 here, and can't reproduce the problems you have mentioned
yet. Although, I'll keep looking for a possible source of the problem.

Cheers!

Re: [Audyssey] bug in mota

2011-05-03 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Lori,

Question. Are you wearing any armor, using a shield, or anything like that?

If so enemy attacks aren't as effective while wearing armor etc. If
not then we have a but of some kind. However, it is really important
for me to know what items you had when that occured.

Thanks.

Although, Damien is now the owner of the source code he is not
presently developing that game. All of the described problems/issues
have been there since Jason abandoned the game x years ago. So do keep
in mind any suggestions and/or bug fixes Damien will do to the game
will probably depend on him converting it to BGT and upgrading it

Hi Damien,
I'd like to tell you about 2 miner bugs that I encountered in danger
city the last few month I had of beta testing the game. The first one
is not really a bug, but a little problem which confuses me in
gameplay. I'd like it if you change the thug's footstep sounds. With
both footsteps being the same, I get confused about who's walking.
Also, this one's not really a bug, but a learn game sounds menu and a
pause game feature would be grate. A bug I've encountered is that when
I complete act 3, I hear act complete. Points: 1705 your total score
is... then the bomb explodes. Then it says the total score then the
game closes. I'd also like an indicator when jumping mines. It goes
like this. You're walking, and hear your footsteps change, once you
hear it you wood imediatly jump over it. Also I would much rather
prefer less mines in act 3. Also if you would change the mine sounds
because they make so much of a humming wound that it's hard to
distinguish whether there's one on the left or right, even with
headphones. Please fix these in the next beta release.
best regards, Jack

Hi,

Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, you are the only person who has
reported this particular issue so I don't as yet have any idea what is
causing the issue. Understand I haven't experienced this issue myself so
something like that might be extremely difficult to fix assuming it is a bug
in the game itself.

Cheers!

Hi Hayden,
Actually, rather than using the v key all the time use the c key to keep
track of your current coordinates. That is much more effective and
efficient than using the view key every couple of steps or so.

Hi Hayri,
Yeah, but what does it say. Telling me it is a standard error dialog

Hi Hayri.
Fortune teller indeed. Version 1.6 haven't even been released! You
probably mean 1.46.
And yes, not all systems meet the system requirements of entombed, but I
assure you that it doesn't use 1.40 gb of ram.

Please make sure of your facts before sending them to a public list.
