I found this by pure accident. If you ever want to log into Terminal as root,
all you have to do is this:
1. Open up /Applications/Utilities/terminal.app
2. At the log-in prompt, type the following, (without the quotes):
sudo bash”
There you go, you’re off and running as “root”. But

Yes, that approach would work, but be mindful of the fact that you wouldn’t be
getting an exact duplicate of the original, necessarily, regarding sound gaps
etc.

for this requirement are numerous, but
one of the most pressing is space saving. My own MacBook Air’s internal flash
drive is becoming rather too full. There are other reasons but I am not going
to detail them here because it would take me off topic.
