Well, thanks anyway, I enjoyed it. I still use the world clock widget. In fact, I have to continually modify the Apple-distributed time zone files in every release to add a couple entries, such as Riga (Latvia), which is a capital city but still apparently doesn't rate a spot on Apple's

I'm not surprised that the really low-level hardware-accessing stuff might not run properly from Parallels. It is, after all, an emulation box. I originally installed Boot Camp because I needed to run comm tools (commercial router initialization and boot servers) that I thought would be too

Passwords can't be recovered. They can be reset , but doing so abandons every subsidiary password stored in your keychain (websites, banks, etc.) unless and until you remember what the password was before you reset it. So take the time to try a few

The question here is, how did you get it to boot into Windows in the first place? If you did it by changing the boot disk in System Preferences, then your first sentence is entirely proper operation. If you did it "temporarily" via the option key, then it shouldn't have gotten set permanently

Re: BootCamp troubles

That's odd behavior indeed. You might want to search on the Windows side for the boot camp installer wizard and re-run it. I can't provide any helpful details or locations because I migrated all my Boot Camp Windows OSes into Parallels VM files a few years ago to simplify the backup issues. >

There are a couple of reasons for this message to appear. One is that the machine doesn't satisfy the release requirements (memory size or processor type). Another is that the installer you are using is too old a copy, and the security certificate has expired (yes, the message is misleading).
