There is an after market that makes grips and pegs for bikes called KURGUR (I think) they make stainless steel claps for various size frame tubes so you can mount their highway pegs. I bought the right size clap for my mad max drag bars and welded a square tubing extension with a plate steel tray

Ram air sure seams like a pain in the A$$ to tune. I mean wouldn't you have
to have a fan that throws air down the scoops at the same speed as the back
tire is turning if you used a dyno? You could do the plug reading thing but
that makes for a LONG time before you finally get the jets in

You can remove the "Y" but DO NOT TRIM THE BOX COVER AND REMOVE THE HALF
MOONS!!! If you do this your bike will sputter, bark and complain at 5,500
RPMS on up. You have to do a stage seven mod for this to work. If you do

With the Max's stock 11 to 1 compression ratio, I would think that you could
only use about 2 lbs of boost, and still have to run super unleaded. If you
change out to 8.5 to 1 pistons, you can use 5 lbs of boost and get around 165
RWHP. Basically 15 lbs of boost doubles you compression
Don't know I am just saying what the factory rep said. If you have an oil
consumption problem like mine and you have used sync oil the whole time they
will not cover the repairs.

Also if you guys think about, auto motors are run in at the factory. Most
manufactures pre-run in the motors for about eight hours. Motor cycles come
in a box from the factory. Usually the first time you turn the key is the
first time they crank.

to carry three quarts of oil in a saddle bag because my 99 with 9,500 miles
drinks a quart every 500 miles. What is it goin to be like when she has

I have to say I cannot agree more!!! I just got my V-Boost in and am very
impressed. It has the same look, feel, and quality of a professional

Actually they are illegal. But law enforcement officers are not the most intelegant
people in the world!!! Most states have laws that "prohibit the attachment of an
external fuel cell that would cause rupture in the event of a roll over". I think
mine would fall into this class. But hey,
Some one asked me where I got my shift light. Right now I have a MSD = $175. I do
not recomend this light to anyone. They require a "pill" to set the RPM. These are @
$38 for a pack of five that are 100 RPM incriments. This light is not made for bikes.

IMHO if you are not racing I would follow the recommendation. Lower tire
pressure promotes heat that reduces the life of the tire, causes cupping of
the front tire, and also makes the tire more prone to puncture. The only
benefit to less pressure is that it gives you slightly larger/better

I was running the recommended 32 PSI on my "P-51". I had such a bad high
speed shimmy that I was almost high sided of the bike at 120MPH! I went to
the tire recommended 40 PSI and my Mr. Max is steady to 145+ MPH. After 145

Well, for me, I have always been a huge fan of the 427 Shelby Cobra. I

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't every shot of NOS like putting 1,000 miles
on the bike? That is what I have been told. This has always shyed me away
form NOS. And I enjoy the 43MPG of the 1200 stock motor. I have heard of
some 1500 getting around 20mpg average. Ouch! I am a long haul

Grab and twist. They are press fit. I used a back and forth motion to get mine off -
so to speek ;-P
Don't get too aggressive or you will smash the fins that expand to press fit in the

The sales rep at KN told me that it would not be a good idea to put a Dragon
steel belted tire on the front of my "P-51" due to the fact that I did not

That fuel injection project is going to be a real pain in the A$$. The
problem is going to be the fuel pump. To get the proper pressure you need a
fairly high amp fuel pump. Mr. Max barely keeps the stock electronics
charged. He is going to have to come up with an after market charging

That $1200 price I got on the V-Gas was the same day it was featured in a mag that had
the V-Max on the cover. Sorry cannot remember the rag. It called the Max the Muscle
Missle. I called UFO and John said that was going to be the projected price. It
seems that the popularity of the mod
I know of two people that have the mod and love it. Both Max's are right at 130RWHP.
The only thing that gives you more bang,(unless you are talking turbo/chargers(know of
some of these but kinda unreliable)), is the PCW Tourmaster which gives you about
140RWHP. V-Gas = @$1,200 Tourmaster
Another $.02, I also had alot of problems with the concept of a 4 cylinders into 1
exhaust tip, working beter than a 4 cylinder into 4 exhaust tips. If you apply real
world experiences, it would seem that more exhaust tips means more places for the
exhaust to leave the system = better
The U. S. also has restrictions on how much "intake" noise a imported vehicle can
produce. I have heard some say that is the reason for the two 1" intake holes on the
Max. I do not know how much water this holds because the air box is the same at all
locations in the world.

like Yamalube is fine. Take it for what it is worth.

I would like to thanks the large number of Maxers who have come to my aid in this
time of oil consumption. Several have taken the time out of there lives to scower
over my pictures of plugs and exhaust and manuels to give me their best shot. This is
what makes the Max comunity what it
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING! That's par for the course!!! Thanks Don... well
maybe I can get them to replace my starter switch. It has not worked since 6,000
miles. I had to put a jumper push switch in the wire loom, but wait let me guess,
Yamaha thinks this is routeen maintance!!!
I am going to give them a call today. I had a what I thought was an oil leek
out of the rear differential at 6 months and they said they had never seen
that before so it was my problem. Turned out to only be the grease from the
splines. The fight is on. The bike is 6 months out of

OK I took the advice of the list and pulled my air box cover to see if my oil
consumption problem was due to a PCV problem. My air box is clean as a
whistle - no oil.
The next step was to pull the plugs and examine them. I have four PICS of my

drooping and not to the rear, they still hit. I have a chip in my "tank cover" to
prove it.

take it off, it is hollow. I replaced mine with a super brace and my "P-51" is a 99.

I use Mar. Mystory Oil in my gas. We used this stuff in everything that ran in the
off-shore oil drilling industry. It is kinda like transmition fluid in appearance.
You use 2 oz. for every five gallons. What it does is lube the valve train, cushion
