Freddie Krueger's Casserole

1 medium can Ranch-style beans (or plain pinto beans)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups shredded cheese (Longhorn, Colby or combined
with Monterey jack)

layer, in this order: half of meat, beans, onion, cheese. Repeat layers,
beginning with tortillas.
In a separate bowl, mix tomatoes with peppers and mushroom soup. Pour
over the layers in casserole. This will look repulsive, thus the name.
You may want to add some grated cheese on top, just to make it look
better. Do not stir. Bake covered for 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350
degrees F. Should be bubbly and hot through and through.
Serve with a green salad and garlic bread or cornbread.

[RecipesAndMore] Darling Carrot Cake

Darling Carrot Cake

4 eggs
1 1/2 cups Crisco oil
1/2 pound cream cheese
1 t. vanilla
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
2 t. cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts
3 cups grated carrots

Beat together eggs, oil, cream cheese and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and
beat until well mixed. Add carrots and walnuts and mix well. Pour batter
into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan or into two 9 inch angel pans.
Bake in 350 oven for about 40 to 45 minutes for the 9 x 13 inch pan and for
about 35 to 40 minutes for the 2 angel pans. In either case, test for
doneness. When a cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool and
Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, 1 stick
1/2 pound cream cheese
1 t. vanilla
1 pound sifted powdered sugar
Beat butter and cream cheese together until well blended. Add vanilla and
sugar and beat until smooth. Will frost two 9 inch round cakes. If you are
making a 9 x 13 inch cake, prepare only 1/2 the recipe. Note this cake
freezes beautifully with or without the frosting. Therefore, I would
recommend your preparing the 2 angel pans. Use one and freeze the other.

Call spouse in from the garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear

hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub
cat's
throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail.

Get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair
curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set

[RecipesAndMore] A bit of Humor?

2010-04-07 Thread Marsha
You Got That Backwards, Pal!

Three guys are out fishing, and when they get back to their truck, they see
it's surrounded by three bears:

OK guys, I figure the only way to get to the truck is to get these bears
really angry. Then they'll leave and we can go home. So, Ed, you take the
one on the left, the little cub with the broken leg, and I'll take the one
in the middle, the little cub with one eye and a hurt paw, and Joe, you take
the one on the right, the huge silvertip mama grizzly bear with
blood-encrusted claws, the big teeth, and froth around the mouth

Hey, man wait a sec, I'm supposed to get this monster angry, and you guys
get the cubs ? That's not fair!

Now, now, Joe. We all have our bears to cross.

Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations. When
you have to wait a year to sleep next to a tree, something is wrong.
~George Carlin

Simple Answer

It was mealtime during our trip on a small airline in the Northwest.

Would you like dinner? the flight attendant asked the man seated in front
of me.

What are my choices? he asked.

Yes or no, she replied.

John's Note:
Canned corn would be good in this and a dollop of sour cream on top too.

[RecipesAndMore] QUESTIONS THAT HAUNT ME! (humor I think)

2009-09-21 Thread Marsha

QUESTIONS THAT HAUNT ME!

Can you cry under water?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered
assassinated instead of just murdered?

Why do you have to 'put your two cents in'... but it's only a 'penny for
your thoughts'? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried
in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What disease did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a
good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they 'slept like a baby' when babies wake up like
every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars
to look at things on the ground?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change?
They're going to see you naked anyway.

Why is 'bra' singular and 'panties' plural?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible
crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song about him?

Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane ?

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why
can't he fix a hole in a boat?

Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours?
They're both dogs!

If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he
just buy dinner?

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables,
what is baby oil made from?

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call
it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you,
but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?
Do you ever wonder why you gave me your e-mail address in the first place?

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate!!! !

[RecipesAndMore] Hominy Casserole with Fritos

2009-09-20 Thread Marsha

Hominy Casserole with Fritos®

Serving Size : 6

2(15.5 oz) cans hominy -- (1white and 1 yellow) drained
1/2 pound Velveeta® cheese -- cubed
1can Cream of Mushroom soup
1can Ro*Tel tomatoes and green chilies -- DO NOT DRAIN
1cup crushed Fritos® -- or crushed tortilla chips

Drain hominy well and put into buttered 2 quart casserole dish. In a
pan, combine cubed Velveeta® cheese, Cream of Mushroom soup, and Ro*Tel
tomatoes and green chilies. Let heat through until cheese is somewhat
melted. Pour over top of the hominy. Sprinkle crushed Fritos® corn chips
over the top. Bake at 350ºF. for 35 minutes.

NOTE: You can use a combination of white and yellow hominy for color, but
that is up to you. You can taste for seasoning adjustment, but you
probably don't need to add any extra salt or pepper. Also you could use
canned stewed tomatoes in place of the Ro*Tel tomatoes and green chilies.
