You guys aren't alone. I'm doing a 9.100 to 9.104. I have had to install itsm,
SRM and slm 2x. First time the installer just quits with no logs or errors. The
midtier keeps crashing for no reason on me and my. Midtier objects menu is
saying things like remedy rule engine is a hidden object so email engine is
running but not working. I'll address all that once everything is finally
installed and upgraded.

RE: 9.1.04 Upgrade freezes without error

2017-12-18 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
Last call that went out is SSI call. You said nothing seems to be happening on
the server, if that is true best would be to take a thread dump of java process
and checking if any locks are seen on database tables.
If you see that since the time you posted this, the installation has completed,
pl send the logs using logzipper such that we can atleast check how much time
did post upgrade tasks take.

Generally if you are doing an upgrade on a standalone server the post upgrade
tasks should complete within 30 mins.

Abhijeet

Hello Listers,

we’re trying to upgrade from 7.6.04 to 9.1.04. After each attempt the installer
stops in the post upgrade execution (see attachment) and silence for >1 hour.
No updates in any of the log files Shall we wait, shall we stop. No one can

Re: What's the NextId?

2017-10-12 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
Rick, I do not think that is accurate.
Logically, if the block size is 100 then the server will access the DB once to
retrieve the next block id every 100 records. If it is 1, then the server goes
to the DB for every record.
Later cannot be faster.

Further, to answer the original question, returning the next id in an API call
would mean preventing creation of ids by anyone other than the caller until the
id has actually been used -- otherwise the information might be obsolete before
the client receives it. That is the reason for not exposing it via an API

Abhijeet

Subject: Re: What's the NextId?

**
Here's the skinny on that. I got this from the engineer who built that
feature, btw.

The problem was that system performance was being constricted around the action
of getting the NextId for a record when multiple sources (say, Netcool and
HPOV) were throwing tons of requests at the (Incident) form at the same time.
The process of getting each Next Entry ID in individual DB calls was
bottlenecking the process of creating the records. So that's why BMC came up
with a way to pre-allocate those in bulk, so that only every N times (whatever
the number is set to) would an actual call to the DB to get Next IDs be
necessary. The transaction time to retrieve 1 or 100 wasn't much different,
and those customers with multiple programs requiring many simultaneous record
creations saw a marked performance increase. It was, and is, a good feature
add.

So (then a miracle occurs) and BMC announces that this particular corner case
had a solution that everyone should benefit from, and announced that the number
should be 100 for *all* customers. I tested this back in 7.6.04 against a RH
server, with settings at 1, 10, 100, and 1000, and found that performance was
actually NEGATIVELY affected the higher the number was set. It wasn't a huge
difference (10%~), but it was a clear, repeatable one for which BMC's engineer
had no explanation. It is why I have always advocated that unless a customer
has the specific set of circumstances that caused the feature to be beneficial,
there is no real benefit to setting the number larger than 1. And there are
minor drawbacks to doing so, the current subject being one of them.

Every time I ask someone from BMC to justify a larger number to the average
customer, they repeat the party line, unaware of the history behind the
feature. I will continue to tilt at this windmill until someone at BMC shows
me some performance testing numbers that justify this setting for the entire
customer base.

Apart from that, I really don’t understand why BMC makes such a fuss around the
nextID. Why can’t they just provide a special command GET-NEXTID?

Re: Mongo DB & its role while upgrading to ITSM 8.1-> 9.1

2017-10-11 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
Abhishek, MongoDB is required to bring in social aspects of notifications with
Smart IT / My IT.
At this time a relational database cannot be used in place of Mongo.
Once you have MongoDB setup, the documentation can guide next steps on having
it prepped up to work with Smart IT / MyIT
Your current DB administrator should be able to get into the intricacies and
help set it up

Thanks for your prompt response.

But my query is that as MongoDB expertise is not present so how far we can go
with that in addition to My IT/SmartIT & ITSM 9.1.
And how much stable is it ? Also is it working behind the FTS as well??

Out of 24 AR Servers, one will be primary for which following steps will have
to be done
For remainder 23 which are secondary servers with 9.1.03 parallel upgrades are

servers will hit the problem mentioned below because in case of secondary DB
updates don't need to be done

Looked the logs that were mentioned at the start of this email thread.
We see a couple of issues within the logs and calling these out in reverse
chronological order:

1. SEVERE error regarding server not starting up - this is a result of
database changes themselves not going thru correctly in the first place.

2. While making database changes, there is a ORA-02437 error

a. (Oct 06 2017 02:52:22.617 PM
+0200),WARNING,com.bmc.install.product.arsuitekit.platforms.arsystemservers.arserver.ARServerManageUpgradeJDBCWriterErrorHandler,

LOG EVENT {Description=[Failed to create primary key when running sql: ALTER
TABLE ARADMIN.FILTER_PUSH ADD PRIMARY KEY ( filterId, actionIndex, fieldId,
overlayGroup ). Upgrade will continue, but upon completion database should be
manually corrected to ensure product performs as designed.],Detail=[ORA-02437:
cannot validate (ARADMIN.SYS_C0062062) - primary key violated

3. Even with just this error, we would expect only some of the imports for
FILTERs to fail. But, there are a lot many failures related to duplicate
inserts.

Looking at the log in detail, we see that database changes didn't go through
correctly. This is evident from the log of
ARServerPriorToServerJDatabaseUpgradeTask class, really missing logs from this
class tell us this class didn't go through and inserts are failing with index
violation error.

Why did this class not execute - really either of the 2 conditions:

a. Either the server being upgraded is secondary server - this is not the
case and it's confirmed in the logs.

b. Or it did not find "featureARServer" product ID and version in
ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml that existed in the install directory before
starting the upgrade - this seems to be true in this case as Thomas mentioned
in the mail below "ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml didn't exist but it was
created after the first failed installation. In there it says, server is NOT
server group member. So does ar.conf".

We have seen similar issue in the past due to corrupt/incomplete or missing
ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml file.
Now why this file does not exist before upgrade is the real root cause, which
you can check based on audit enabled on OS.

Fix for this issue:

? Revert the system completely back to 8.1 clean state including
database and file system.

? Ensure file system has correct ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml
file with lines such as this:

o

...

? Ensure there are no duplicates in FILTER_PUSH table. Use this query
to find if there are duplicates before upgrade:

o select filterId, actionIndex, fieldId, count(*) from filter_push group by
filterId, actionIndex, fieldId having count(*) > 1

o If above query finds duplicates, that needs to be fixed before starting the
upgrade. Clearly there seem to be corrupt entries related to overlays of those
filters. Don't see how it will happen via the product.

Then start upgrade with 9.1.03 and this time it should succeed once database is
upgraded successfully.

Abhijeet

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The missing Attribute ID in the Reconciliation Precedence rule for

I believe this is a custom RE rule defined and thus requires rectification

Re: Issue while parsing the WSDL file with the Filter set field action.

2017-07-10 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
Abhishek, you will need to make following changes to your webservice

1. Have one part element per message. See how I have created a different
message element for header element. So in WSDL it will look like below –

 CREATE-SERVICE request message.

  CREATE-SERVICE Response message.

2. Change operation definition in element like below for
CREATE-SERVICE operation.

Not finding the logs could be a function of setting temp environment variable

**
I've got a ticket at BMC for this, but I thought the ARSlist might have some
insight:

I am attempting to upgrade ARS 8.1 to 9.1.3 (or 9.1.2 - same problem).
Both versions complain that the 'AR System Server Admin' user fails
authentication.
I've verified that 'Demo' and my ID can login to the server with the same
passwords entered into the upgrade dialog.

BMC support has requested LOG files from the install, but after extensively
searching the disk, no log files are found.

Anyone bump into this before?
Thanks,

None of the ITSM application is being used in our system.
All customizations/code was in base development on 7.6

We're now planning to switch to best practice.
Is it possible? How?

Hi Experts,

We are facing frequent FTS failure issues with global as well as local search.

And records are getting piled up in FT_Pending table as well.

So we are planning to implement monitoring alerts on the FT_Pending as well as
FTS /collection/ folder to proactively manage FTS issues.

Please provide your valuable suggestion on it.

Early response will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I sample a an API/FLTR/SQL/ESCL log once in a while to see that the system
still performs as the last time.

Then there are end to end testing tools that you can use to for example do some
operation through Mid-Tier or Web-Services.

You can also turn on Server Statistics to find a few things.

In case of fresh install you can use pre-created database option, i.e.
pre-create single tablespace with 8 data files and then follow steps mentioned

For upgrade you do not specify the data file path.

I think if you check, that part of the silent install is used when ARS is

Did you not create your modifications in overlay layer?
BMC recommendation is to modify in Best practice mode.
If you have not followed reco, then alternate choice is to use BPCU utility to

Hello,

there is one point I'd like to share:

Running BMC ARS 9 on Windows 2008, JAVA 7, I've investigated that the
arserver.exe does not allocate the huge amount of memory any more.
Instead there is a java.exe that allocates approx. 2GB RAM now. Is this a step
on the road to pure Java ARS?

If you have a monitoring on memory consumption of arserver.exe you now need an
additional rule that monitors the memory consumption of this java.exe.

Additionally if you want to separate your installation into different tomcats
you can have at least 4:
- Midtier default on http port 8080
- SmartReporting e.g. http port 8081
- Atrium CMDB WS (AXIS) e.g. http port 8082
- MyIT and SmartIT e.g. http port 8083

Remedy ITSM 9.0 release is certainly a bit more platform centric, if we
leave Smart IT/MyIT out of the discussion for a second. The platform
modernization is a huge investment into the future of Remedy.

But there are a number of enhancements that are very relevant for the
Service Desk for customers that use the mid-tier based UI. For example:

· Smart Reporting – the amazing new in-app reporting and
dashboard technology that of course applies also to incident management (incl.
many ootb reports).

· New application-level archiving allows customers to implement
continuous archiving based on business policy, thus reducing e.g. the number of
active incidents in the system. This will improve performance, search results,
etc. – aside from being more compliant with data retention policies.

· FTS enhancements have significantly improved search
performance, incl. when searching incidents and knowledge (more than 10 times
in some cases). New FTS architecture also improves high-availability.

· RESTful API for Remedy that allows to more easily access the
incident management data.

So, those enhancements were not necessarily in the core Incident
Management form/process, but very relevant to Service Desk personas and to the
way how they work. And all of this available to Remedy ITSM users without any
additional license fees.

What enhancements you’d like to see for the incident management
form/process? The Modern Service Desk is certainly something that BMC cares
about very much, and I
Of course you can also post any suggestions for enhancements as Ideas

Re: Upgrade suggestion

2014-06-13 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet

1. If the purpose of the field is simply to be used as a buffer and store
temporary values, we should add/reuse a display only field.

In such cases, reuse is a better option, provided the field is not used for any
other operation in the same transaction. In case if there is no free field, you
can add a new one , since it adds no extra column to the database. But just
make sure you create those fields in custom mode, so that there is no impact
during upgrade.

2. If the field need to contain a record, then we should always create a
new 'custom' field rather than using an old one. BMC can any time remove that
field from the forms or change its value.

Hi Ankita,

If you can avoid using an OOTB field, that is best practice. Sometimes it
doesn't make sense to build a new field when an OOTB field can handle the job.
The biggest thing is to not modify existing workflow if you are in a pre-7.6.04
environment. If new workflow will conflict or is just a tweak to the
qualifications, make a copy of it with some letters in the front indicating
ownership and/or customization (eg. BMS-name of workflow object for Bristol
Meyers Squibb if you worked there) and then disable the original workflow
object (active link, filter, escalation, etc.). This way, any upgrades will
pick up the original disabled object and if it needs to modify it, it will.
You should always do a snapshot of your DB and a separate def of all non-OOTB
forms, modified OOTB forms that have new fields or fields that have changed
parameters (which I do not suggest as they may affect workflow to another form
you are not aware of that carries the field or a join form you are not aware
of), and of all non-OOTB workflow so you can import it into the new system
post-upgrade.

If you are working with a 7.6.04 version or later, then modify the object in
the Best Practice view as an overlay and you will be fine with an upgrade.
Upgrades won't mess with overlays.

Hope that helps and good luck!

As BMC releases new version, they seem to delay the release of the
compatibility of the integrations until the version is released. Which causes
issues when planning upgrades in the near future.

We are planning on upgrading our BPPM from 9.0 to 9.5 early next year, however,
I am trying to see if we need to upgrade our 7.6.4 ITSM to 8.x for the BPPM
integration.

So if anyone has any insight on if BPPM 9.5 integration is compatible with ITSM
7.6.4, can you please let me know.

Re: Recommended size for FTS index collection directory

2012-08-08 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
You are right. A shared network drive that can be written to from below
mentioned 5 machines needs to be available.
As far as I remember the documentation says, storage size should be 2 times
that data size that is being indexed
I think the 7.6.04 configuration guide calls that out
So really if you know what all you will end up indexing, you could extrapolate
that to provision the right size of the shared network drive

Re: Approval Server Auto Approval issue

Intent is to override the OOTB behavior that a SR approval would go through and
replace it with the rule based process that you have configured
Right?

To achieve the above, ensure that you have set all approval processes that
pivot around SRM form to inactive. In ar.cfg check if the Update-Config
parameter needs to be tweaked such that approval server can reload the process
cache [such that inactive processes really are accounted for].

Of course you will have to tune it for optimum results, but key basis on which

Re: Mixing best-practice and base-development in 7.6.04...

2011-03-28 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
When you add a new object (custom) using best practice mode [BP] it is
automatically created as custom
BPCU is only used
As a thumb rule do not mix modes
What that means is as follows?
You added 3 custom fields using best practice mode. These will only be seen or
will be available in best practice mode
These will not be seen when you are in base development mode
In your example if I understand correctly, the fields that you have added to
Email messages form are added thro the BP mode and therefore the table that you
are trying to add should be a custom field

Your question 2 below is already answered on one of the threads titled Overlay
and custom in 7.6.4.
Copying here for immediate perusal:
If you are in Best Practice View in Developer studio then you cannot convert a
base (unmodified) object to a custom object with a right context menu option.
You can only convert it into an overlay using menu option convert to overlay
But if you had had to convert the base to custom you could easily open the
object in Best practice mode and use save as, the object will be created as
custom
You can always convert a custom object to a base object in dev studio using
menu option viz., convert to base

Can you merge my overlay customizations into the Base Development
mode, and revert the changes from overlay to base?
- Why would you ever need to merge changes from overlay objects to base
objects?

Re: Overlay and custom in 7.6.4

2011-03-28 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
BPCU utility is deemed to be used only as part of the upgrade steps

Why do you not import before upgrading to a 7.6.04 server?
If you do this before the server upgrade then BPCU will take care of converting
such objects to custom as part of the documented upgrade steps

Is there a way that this can be done using BPCU (?). I am having trouble

version on to a 7.6.4 and want it to show as custom. But want to see if this
can be done without manually going through each form and doing a save as.

If BPCU is possible can I please get the command to run to change form X to

Re: DevStudioPlus 7.6.4

2011-03-24 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
When you log into Developer Studio 7.6.04, by default it opens in the Best
Practice Customization View [BP]
I am not sure as to why you had to switch mode to get into the BP mode
In BP view you should be able to select a base [unmodified] object and use
right context menu option Create Overlay
You do mention below that the create overlay option is grayed out, can you
check if you already had an overlay for that object created maybe because you
had the BPCU utility run as part of the upgrade process

Once you create an overlay of a form, please also create overlay of the view
[using menu option Create View overlay] and then you can create field.

Hi All -

I am having a difficulty with Dev Studio Plus 7.6.4. I believe understand the
overlay concept.

I log in and I switch to Best Practice Mode to create an overlay. However,
everything is grayed out. When I select create overlay it is grayed out.
When I select create field it is grayed out.

I am trying to add a field in the CHG:Infrastructure Change (Change Management)
task table. I ready the Forms and Concepts guide regarding the overlays. Why
can not I not modify the workflow. In previous versions, I just select the two
fields, and click the arrow to add the fields to the table. Now even the
arrows are grayed out so I am not able to drag the fields over.

My access is Administrator.

Why is this behaving this way? Is there some critical step that I am missing?

Re: Approval server 7.1.0 patch011

2011-03-21 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
I looked through the approval debug log below
Temp Char 1 (13060) = APD0002
13060 is a field on AP:Detail-Signature and is mapped to field 1 from AP:Detail
This field will not accept beyond 15 chars
Was this mapping changed recently?

The real issue though for the record to error out is not the success / failure
of the Get Authority rules, but the fact that the Get Next approver rule has
not fetched any approver
Can you review the Get Next approver rule to check why the next approver is not
resolved?

Re: GUID FIELD 179

2010-12-06 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
Potentially you could write an active link on say lose focus of a field to call
$PROCESS$ @@:Application-Generate-GUID and set the output to a field on the form
This way you will have the GUID created.
Now when you save / submit the request then an entry will be created in
database.

This way you can have the GUID created even before a entry is created at the
database level

hope that helps

Abhijeet

ARS 6.3 on a Sun Solaris system and Oracle 10.x

Quick question.

It's been awhile since I've done this, I've build a GUID field (ID 179) on a
request form.. it's my understanding that this would make the GUID available
prior to submitting the ticket, however that doesnt seem to be the case. Am I
missing something?
the Remedy helpfile defines GUID Fields as:

To auto-populate a field with a GUID, define a character field using field ID
179. A GUID is available during active link processing on the client and
through all filter phases. By contrast, the value of Request ID field is not
available until an entry has been successfully committed to the database. You
can set the attributes of the GUID field, except for field type, length, and
ID.
This suggests to me that it should be available from a new form. However the
only way I can get it is to generate it with a $PROCESS$
@@:Application-Generate-GUID.

Could someone enlighten me?

Greetings!

We're working to upgrade from ARS 7.0.1, patch 7 to ARS 7.6.3
on our Solaris 5.10 server / Oracle 10g database.

So far, so good, but arimportcmd seems to have been
discontinued. I see in the integration guide that Remedy Import has been
replaced by a new Java-based dataimport, but I can't find anything for
server-side data imports.

Searching arslist archives, I find threads from July for ARS
7.5 that seem to confirm that arimportcmd has been deprecated. I tried to
reply directly from it, but botched it somehow. Hopefully this isn't a
duplicate (apologies if so).

Am I missing something? We have a number of external
applications that deposit data files on our server, after which Remedy
workflow, and in some cases, Unix shell scripts initiate the server-side
imports (arimportcmd in our current version). Is there a way to handle
server-side imports in 7.6.3 (or 7.5, for that matter)?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I assume you are using unixes.
On the testing environment does the server name that you have passed to
control.server resolve to a valid name that can be resolved either via DNS or
is mapped in the hosts file.
Lets say if you have passed the value to control.server as testmachine
The easy way fwd for testing would be to map testmachine to an IP in your
testing env. Following steps should help:
1. On shell prompt execute ifconfig and get the IP adress
2. Open /etc/hosts
3. Map Testmachine to the IP address obtained in 1 above
4. Save /etc.hosts
6. Rerun your program

LD_LIBRARY_PATH: should point to the location where arapixx.so / arrpcxx.so and
arutilxx.so are present, where xx is the version, .so: for solaris / linux

If the character field input length is set to 0 then data send will not be

 * For Sybase/MS SQL Server and Informix databases, 2 GB

Re: Approval Previews

2010-03-22 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
In approval server version 7.5 this functionality is available.
You should be able to use the application command below:
Pasting text instead of the snap that I sent which did not go through.

Generate-Multi-Process-Preview [-s formName] [-e requestID]
-l phase:processList; [-o {0|1}]
Creates a multi-process preview request for the associated application request.
Optionally, you might choose to create a single process preview request using
the
Appropriate parameter. For more information, see Multi-process preview on
page 164.

Table C-8: Generate-Multi-Process-Preview command parameters
Parameter Description
-l The names of processes to include. If omitted, this command performs no
action. Multiple process names are separated by semicolons.
Optionally, you can include extra information as a prefix to a process name
separated by a colon (:). It could be anything related to the process that you
want to highlight. For example, in the case of BMC Remedy Change
Management applications, you can include phase information.
-o Indicates whether a single process (0) or multi-process (1) preview should be
generated. If omitted, its value defaults to 1.

In 7.5 approval server has the ability to preview beyond the current process
that you are in. Approval server allows you to see these in either a table view
or in a flowchart view.
New application command introduced vide 7.5 Approval server as below will allow
you kick start previewing approvers even before an approval request has
actually been kicked off.
This you can achieve by specifying the processes that you foresee being invoked
as part of your real time request flow when firing the application command
below.
Ensure that you pass the -o option as 1, if you intend to preview across more
than one approval processes.
Needless to say specifying an adhoc type of approval process in the mix would
not help, because adhoc type of process as the name suggests cannot visualize
the approval chain upfront.

Hi,

Does anyone use the approval preview functionality in the approval server for
change management? The concept sounds good since it allows a change manager
to map out the approval plan for a change request based on the attributes but
it seems to have a number of limitations:

- It doesn't preview required approvals unless you're in an approval stage
- When you are in an approval stage, it doesn't preview required approvals
beyond the current approval stage.
- When using level approval processes, it doesn't preview required approvals
beyond the current level of the current process

In essence, the function doesn't appear to be doing a look-ahead and only
really tells the user what information is displayed on the approvers tab of the
infrastructure change form. Is there something that I'm missing? I believe
the system has been configured properly per the documentation. The plugin
loopback RPC socket has been configured and the approval processes (level) are
configured to generate previews in real-time only. I didn't see much when
scrubbing the message boards.

Any input or suggestions on how to get the preview behavior described above
would be appreciated. How does everyone else deal with this (or is it a
non-issue)?

Thanks,
Jeff

Missed on the 7.1 AR p3 that you mentioned in email footer.
Anyway, you should have the following def / arx files at approval install
location on your box.
Please import, SampleApp.def
And then import data files below:
restaurant.arx; sampadmn.arx; sampform.arx;; sampproc.arx; samprole.arx;
samprule.arx; company.arx; authority.arx
That should get you setup on using samples.

Re: ERROR's in LOG-Approve : Some fields truncated...ARWARN 8911

2009-05-28 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
I believe the fields below are used in approval server for storing approver
names. I think the errors are due to the fact that field in bold below has 255
char width. Can you please check what is the field length at your end for
fields below?

AP:Signature:

 - Original Approver (field ID 13203)

 - Approver (field ID 13207)

AP:Role:

 - Member list (field ID 12401)

The approval server checks the size of the Approvers field i.e., 13207 on the
AP:Signature form, and uses this size as the maximum limit. What this means is
that you could change the size of this field to anything, and the approval
server will detect this and enforce this increased size.

Two things must be noted:
1. The size of the Approvers field is checked on server startup. So once the
change is made, the approval server will need to be restarted (this might mean
restarting the AR Server).

2. The maximum allowable size of the Approvers field is database dependent. The
limits are listed below.

   Oracle 4000
   MSSQL Server 8000
   Informix255
   DB2 255
   Sybase 255

So if you are on Oracle / SQL server you can pretty much increase the field
length and get rid of the errors below, ofcourse if the approver list that is
contrived is below relevant length mentioned above.

Abhijeet

Re: Performance Tuning ARS 7.1

2009-05-25 Thread Gadgil, Abhijeet
Tempdb is a ala temporary tablespace in sql server. AR installer does not
create this. When SQL Server is installed the setup program creates tempdb
database. Tempdb is a system database used by SQL Server to store temporary
tables and temporary stored procedures, for sorting, subqueries, and aggregates
with GROUP BY, ORDER BY, for cursors and so on. Tempdb database contains only
temporary objects, so if you want to create a permanent object, do not create
it in the tempdb database.

We have been experiancing random ARERR 92 / 8939's at several custom locations
- generally a restart of ARS clears the issue - this is occuring on multiple
7.1 patch versoins.

Since this is the 'tempdb' and not ARSystem - I am curious as to what ARS would
be doing in the tempdb - guess I need to enable profiler and check the
activity...

One question - is what is the transaction logsize of tempdb? is it attempting
to grow (and grow)??

I will pass this 'tip' on to my team(s) for them to try at a few customer
locations just to double check...

Hello All

We just launched ARS 7.1 two weeks ago. Things have been running
fairly well until last week when we started to see the error ARERR 92
Timeout during database update -- the operation has been accepted by
the server and will usually complete successfully :
server.comhttp://server.com/

With BMC guidance we increased the tempdb size from an initial 8MB to
1GB. The ARERR 92 error appeared to be resolved until earlier this
week when we started seeing error ARERR 382 The value(s) for this
entry violate a unique index that has been defined for this form :
HPD:Help Desk entry:INC8832 fields: and error ARERR 8939
The AR System Plug-In server is not responding. Cannot connect to the
system at this time. Contact your AR System Administrator for
assistance. : RPC: Timed out

I suspect that ARERR 92 and ARERR 382 are related, so earlier this
morning I increased the tempdb size from 1GB to 5GB. This appears to
have resolved these errors. However, I'm not sure if ARERR 8939 is
related to this issue but restarting the arplugin.exe process appears
to have resolved this issue.

Our AR server is running on a Windows 2003 server R2 with 8GB RAM and
the database backed is SQL 2005 running on a similar server.

I'm curious if anyone else has encountered similar issues and what
recommendations people have for improving performance of a system.
Clearly, we are learning some new ways of tuning our system, so any
tips would be greatly appreciated.

Leo

Can you run ARSystemMaintenanceTool.cmd, available at install location to zip
