You can buy Lugol’s usually under $15 Canadian, in any compounding pharmacy.
And likely order it online at Iherb (I haven’t checked). Took it internally for
years, but drops on skin is much, much easier to regulate.

Re: CSSelenium

2015-04-29 Thread Dee
Hi PT I think the best way to absorb all necessary vitamins and minerals if you
have a compromised system, is to take a good seaweed supplement such as
Seagreens. This way, you get everything in a bioavailable form and - most

want selenium as well as magnesium, vit. C, and other nutrients in the

RE: CSSelenium

2011-02-22 Thread John Draper

Hi Jaxi,

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but I've read many times from
different sources that L-Selenomethionine is one of the best, safest and
most bioavailable forms. Here is more info:

http://www.selenomethionine.com/

Selenium is an essential trace element for humans and other animals.

Selenium is incorporated into molecules of an enzyme called glutathione
peroxidase (GPX). This vital enzyme protects red blood cells and cell
membranes against undesirable reactions with soluble peroxides.

The dependence of glutathione peroxidase on nutritional selenium clarifies
the antioxidant role of this essential micronutrient. Good selenium
nutrition is of key importance for antioxidant defense as well as efficient
energy metabolism.

Research is currently being conducted on the protective effects of Se in
humans against :

*   aging
*   certain types of cancer
*   heart disease
*   cataract
*   arthritis
*   Alzheimer disease
*   HIV infection
*   etc...

Recommended selenium supplementation in humans: 50-200 mg /day.

Recommended source of selenium uptake for humans: L-(+)- selenomethionine.

L-(+)- selenomethionine is natural, stable, better absorbed than other forms
of (inorganic) selenium (like sodium selenite or selenate etc.)

For more information:

Re: CSSelenium

2008-12-31 Thread Dee Fitzpatrick
Yes and despite what Wayne says, there are definitely a lot of supplements
on the market which you might just as well throw straight down the toilet,
without using 'the middle man' at all! Dr Wallach said this once and I know
that his mineral products are also, in some people's opinion; suspect too.
As far as bio-availability is concerned that is. You have to research and
research into the best form to take, and even then can be wrong as I have
just found out. Then as I said, there is the matter of unbalancing things
which is a whole new can of worms. I think the best thing to do (and this
is only my own opinion) is to juice some fruits and veggies at home (again,
in moderation) and hope for the best. At least, this is what I aim to do.

Morning Dee,

Yep, understood. I can't say too much about supplements but many years ago
when I was a young punk I went back home for a visit and noticed the fridge
contained a number of bottles of various supplements and when I asked my
mother how come the sudden influx of supplements in the house she explained
that as she was getting older she thought she may need to supplement some
things, 'just in case'she died at 59 with a heart attack.

I'm not blaming the supplements by the way as I couldn't possibly know, but
I picked one and did some asking about it and learned that the particular

Now, ..if you could and would, define your term, Form of
Salt, then many could answer your question. Of course.

Some time ago, ( maybe before your time ) we had some discussion on Terms.

A few mean nothing, cannot be defined, serve no purpose, and should
not exist, many are worthless.

One was Aerobic Oxygen.

Sounds like you want to know more about Fuzzy Logic. Yes indeed.

Many terms can only be defined with Fuzzy Logic. ( not very good then )

Relative to Sodium Compounds, many exist. Some are poison, some are
very useful, they are used for many purposes. Some are very
dangerous. A few. of my favorites

Sodium Cyanide
Sodium Chlorite
Sodium Pentathol
Sodiium Nitrate
Sodiium Sulfate
Sodium Fulminate
Sodium Iodine
. Just to name a few of my favorites.

Get some of all the different Sodium compounds and see what you can
do with them.

That should keep you busy for a day or two.

Mercury Fulminate... I have to mention this one. ( not Sodium )
You can have lots of fun with this one.

Paint some on your window sill, Watch the flies light on it, and
watch them explode.

Get a 5 gallon bucket full. Several were found in the Oklahoma City Bombing.

And you are like me, If we were a chemist, we would be a MAD Scientist.

Happy New Year !

I would send you some Mercury Fulminate, but I do not think it can be
shipped, easily.

And I do not have any.

-I guess that would probably have involved me Wayne, but I would think that
those who are far better with the scientific vocabulary than I would
consider giving some lee-way to my illiterate way of explaining and see what

Relative to Sodium Compounds, many exist.

-I believe you know where I'm going with the sodium thing though. What else
am I expected to think when I hear sodium mentioned with silver? As fuzzy
as it may seem this is why I'm making these enquiries. Is any form of
sodium ok with silver? I don't know how many forms there are, and of those,
how many could interact with silver? I'm already starting to form my own
ideas when I read about chelation with selenium.

[That should keep you busy for a day or two.]

[And you are like me, If we were a chemist, we would be a MAD Scientist.]

-What can I say. If I was *any* sort of scientist do you think I would be
asking such stupid or fuzzy questions? At least I will get a grass roots
understanding of basic principles which can satisfy my curiosity to a point
without having to get a degree and that should be enough to teach me
something I didn't know before.

Hope you had an enjoyable xmas.

Oh, by the way, I had several samples of my EICS tested recently and am a
little blown away by some of the results.
Perhaps you could tell me what the hell an AgNO3 STDS is as this is what was
used with the AAS testing I had done and I haven't a clue if it's useful or
not as a test proceedure. That'll keep you occupied for a few minutes g.
No, only joking, I am going to speak with the chap who did the testing for
me shortly and get him to explain all the test results to mein plain
english! Going by the test results of 2 of my samples they are damn close
to 50/50 ion/particle content, this I have never heard of in all the reading
I have done over the years with LV home made EICS, all I have read state
90/10 or 80/20 etc etc but none near 50/50. Of course I welcome any
comments you will have.

 Not very long at all.
You should certainly know what AG material actually is.
When in doubt, look at the Atomic Chart on your wall.
AG is Silver, nothing more, nothing less.
Atomic Number 47
Atomic Weight 107.8682
Melting Point: 961.93 °C (1235.08 K,
1763.474 °F)
Boiling Point: 2212.0 °C (2485.15 K, 4013.6 °F)
Number of Protons/Electrons: 47
Number of Neutrons: 61
NO3 is the Nitrate Radical or Ion.
My plants eat it, when it chelated properly.
Nitrate and Nitrite are common forms of fertilizer.
It has many good uses and many bad ones.
So, AgNO3 is simply Silver Nitrate.
You must have seen that term, 1000 times at least.
Perhaps you could tell me what
the hell an AgNO3 STDS is as this is what was used with the AAS testing I
had done and I haven't a clue if it's useful or not as a test

Certainly it is or he would not have used it.
AAS is the Standards use.
STDS appears to mean Standards, maybe something a bit
different.
If you did not trust the guy, why did you use him to do your
test ?

NO, NO, Don't get me wrong, it's nothing to do with trust Wayne, no problem
there, and I know that AAS is a standard test and of course I know Ag is
silver, and should have known the nitrate part, but the STDS I wasn't familiar

to ask him about all the tests anyway when I see him shortly so it doesn't
matter.

P.S. I've trucked tons of Amonium Nitrate around the countryside so I know
what that is g, good for fishing as well, and apparently keeps beer cold too,
just can't remember what they add to it to make it act as a chiller, maybe it's

Morning Dee,

Yep, understood. I can't say too much about supplements but many years ago
when I was a young punk I went back home for a visit and noticed the fridge
contained a number of bottles of various supplements and when I asked my mother
how come the sudden influx of supplements in the house she explained that as
she was getting older she thought she may need to supplement some things, 'just
in case'she died at 59 with a heart attack.

I'm not blaming the supplements by the way as I couldn't possibly know, but I
picked one and did some asking about it and learned that the particular one I
picked contained several ingredients which all did basically the same thing in
their own individual way, I could not help but be drawn to the thought that as

From another group. Hope this helps.

From my recently updated anti-cancer protocol
http://www.tbyil.com/anticancer.htm :

The best form of supplemental selenium for fighting cancer appears to be
methylselenocysteine. The most common form of supplemental selenium is
selenomethionine whose general proteins have no anticancer activity. Another
form, sodium selenite is more frequently metabolized to the toxic metabolite
hydrogen selenide (H2Se), which does have anticancer effects but is more toxic
than selenomethionine. Its primary mode of killing cancer cells (and at high
levels, normal cells) is through the process of cell necrosis. Cell necrosis
provokes inflammation and may kill healthy cells along with cancer cells.

The recommended form of selenium, methyselenocysteine is found naturally in
some vegetables including garlic, brassicas, leeks, and onions, especially when
these are grown in high selenium soil. Methylselenocysteine is easily converted
to methylselenol which has been demonstrated to be an effective anticancer form
of selenium. Rather than killing cancer cells by necrosis, methylselenol kills
cancer cells through apoptosis. Apoptosis is an orderly process of cellular
self-destruction that does not provoke inflammatory responses. Methylselenol is
also known to inhibit angiogenesis in beginning cancer tumors. Angiogenesis,
the creation of new blood vessels, is necessary for cancer cells to grow into a
tumor. For cancer prevention, doses of 200 to 400 mcg of methylselenocysteine
are generally considered safe without medical supervision.
Nutritionally-oriented physicians may use as much as 900 to 2,000 mcg selenium
from methylselenocysteine daily as part of a comprehensive cancer treatment
protocol.

CSSelenium questions?

2008-12-28 Thread Neville
Morning All,

I need to get over the following stumbling blocks so a couple of quick and
short questions if someone would be so kind...

(1) Is the Selenium taken as a supplement in the form of a sulphide, selenate
or selenite? Or perhaps something entirely different? If 'something
different', maybe a brief explanation of the difference.

(2) Does the Selenium as used in photography have any similarities to the
supplemental form of Selenium?...Yes/No/Don't know. If 'No', maybe the
non-similarities could be explained a little.

I'm having some difficulty finding appropriate definitions of the various forms
of Selenium with relation to its use in a supplemental form.

Thanks...N.

Thanks...N.

Thanks Carol and Gene, I'm not looking to purchase any, just trying to
establish what form of it is used as a supplement and what combination of
ingredients constitute the supplemental form that's all.

Re: CSSelenium

2008-01-09 Thread Del
I posted this quote from Jonathan Wright last month in response to this
question.

In our opinion, he is one of the best sources for this type of information.

Selenium. Garlic and onions are the only common foods high in selenium, so
if you're not allergic to them, include plenty in your diet -- along with
the ginger. And I also recommend supplementing the onions and garlic with
200-500 micrograms of selenium daily. But don't overdo it; it is possible to
overdose at quantities of 1,500 to 2,000 micrograms daily.

Please note that these are MICRO not milli-grams.

Selenium is a metal and excessive doses can be serious.
Do not trivialize without investigation.

I have seen doses up to 400 MICROgrams listed as safe.

CSSelenium Yeast, Epicor, XPC LS

2007-12-24 Thread Dan Nave

There is a new product out called Epicor which is a selenium
yeast product which is supposed to increase immunity. Also
is a good source of selenium. See:

http://www.naturodoc.com/library/cancer/epicor.htm

This is the same product basically as the animal feed
product (original results were noticed by workers breathing
in dust from this process and having reduced incidence of
absenteeism due to illness).

One could use the animal feed product at a fraction of the
price. I had this idea and I notice that Dr. David Williams
is saying the same thing, so that makes it alright... He
is recommending 1 to 3 gm of XPC LS for an adult (the LS
indicates suitable for use in organic feeding)

You should be able to get a feed store to order it in a 50
pound bag or Diamond V indicates:

Nutra Blend will carry both products, to order direct call
1-800-657-5657.

I notice it is already being sold on Ebay in 5 lb lots:

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmkmk932

Product profile (I expect it should be the same as the LS):

http://www.diamondv.com/products/profiles/Product_Profile_XPC_6-06.pdf

This could be fed to a horse, pets, and conceivably, family.

Yep, brazils for selenium, and almonds for vitamin E.

Hello V ... is that 4 Brazils for the daily allowance, or 4 nuts to
the ounce? We don't use ozs here anymore so I've lost touch with
them. You wouldn't get 40 brazils to the oz would you?

Hi alchemySA,

1 oz of Brazil nuts provides about 10 times the daily
requirement of
Selenium . So 1 nut a day should suffice. Much cheaper and
safer than

pills. Tuna's a good source too.

1 oz of Brazil nuts provides about 10 times the daily requirement of

Re: CSselenium depletion/pat

2003-04-10 Thread Maja Hristozova
Yep
It's much clearer now. I understand the selenium bit,
but I think I'm confusing the words - I thought
'deposit' is something like 'store' and so we should
avoid staffing our body with silver. I think you mean
more like 'reach'. But does the silver actually stay
in the body tissues? I thought one of its advantages
is that it doesn't get stored in the body as the other
antibiotics (and thus doesn't damage the liver) but
just 'passes by', kills the bugs and gets out..

Maia

--- INGRID KROPP-OVERSTREET pfsing...@msn.com wrote:
ok don't take this for face value. it' just a

your body needs selenium. it's a mineral.
now if colloidal silver uses selenium to be
deposited into body tissue then i would think that
more selenium is being used up. this would call for
more selenium to be used as a supplement because of
what your body needs PLUS the selenium the colloidal
silver is using. (since colloidal silver is also a
 supplement)
bacteria infects body tissue that have weak ph
levels so i thought that the body would probably
direct more of the colloidal silver towards body
tissue that is infected and since selenium helps the
body deposit the colloidal silver it would make
sense that more is being used.

i think this should explain it better. don't feel
sorry. we're all here to learn or teach. i'm still
in the process of learning. as you can tell i get
 corrected alot.

 Hi Pat
 I got lost here...
Can you please explain it as for a simple (not a
native English) audience... sorry.. I'm just a new
 subscriber and don't know much...

to me it would make sense that selenium would be
depleted due to the use of CS.

 Yes...

if with the help of selenium it deposits more CS
into body tissue then that would mean more selenium
is being used in addition to the selenium your body
 is already processing.

I thought CS is only deposited in the body tissues
when it doesn't bond with the selenium, so the CS
(kind of) gets stored in the body tissues?

plus since bacteria likes to set up
shop in weak ph levels of body tissue then there
would be more of a need for CS to be distributed
 to
those areas and with the help of selenium your
 body
  can deposit more.

So you actually mean that depositing CS in the body
tissues is good because it changes the PH and the
 bacteria don't like those areas?

  pat

 Thanks,
 Maia

If you're gonna screw with megadoses, you had better be researching toxicities.
Metals are especially dangerous with small windows for error.

You'll find FDA recommendations too low for optimum, but you damnwell better
find out what a dangerous dose is!

Here's a clue, most metal supplements are made up in MICROGRAM doses.

Recommended copper, for example, is only 3mcg daily.

If you told your doctor that you were taking 1 gram of E daily, he tell you to
cut it (mine did, I didn't).

Here's a little advice from a 55-year user of vitamins, minerals,
nutritional supplements, etc.:

Before venturing into the land of self megadosing, you need to acquaint
yourself with the voluminous material on the extensive subject, and also
establish a sensible protocol for yourself. I am not criticizing you, just
advocating a sane approach. Yours is a common mistake -- the if 1 gram is
good, 10 grams must be great! mentality, which I was guilty of myself many
years ago.

Chuck is 100 percent right in his advice. Intake of certain nutritional
supplements requires restraint, even though the vitamin manufacturers are
not as informed of these dangers as they should be. Certain physical
conditions determine certain sane intake dosages of certain substances.
Heavily-promoted iron, for instance, is dangerous in high dosages.

On the subject of Vit. E, I took 1g daily for years until reading a serious
research report some years ago that this intake was not healthy, and reduced
my intake to the sane high dosage of 400mg daily.

I have been taking vitamins, etc., since the age of 7, when I was diagnosed
by teachers and doctors as low energy which resulted in inattention in
class. They moved me to the front row and started giving me gagatacious
liver extract (it tasted like pureed liver). I am now 63 and still
learning.

Take it further -- educate yourself and proceed cautiously, with lower
dosages for trial periods to determine if you see any results, and if you
don't in 30-60 days, increase your dosage to the next level. Don't catapult
the dosages.

I hope these cautions are taken to heart, because they are offered with your
best intentions at heart.

Bill,
That is great advice for anyone. I'd just like to add, that one can't just
read X is good for Y and begin taking X without knowing something about the
synergy of how and what X works with. Taking supplements of one vitamin,
mineral, etc without also supplementing its complements can really get things
screwed up and create more deficencies that it helps.
Calcium metabolism is a good example. It is much more complicated than just
taking megadoses of calcium.

The original information can be viewed in both the EPA RISK studies and
the
World Health Organization's Silver Food Additive Series document.

. Both documents can be found at our silvermedicine.org
 website.

Re: CSSelenium??

Well, this is interesting to say the least! There is selenium in my
vitamin/minerals, which I take just before bedtime. I guess the silver works
in the day, and the selenium at night!
Marshalee

 Marshalee,
I can't remember where I read about CS depleting selenium, it was an
article or email that went into how CS ions are thought to attach to cells
of bacteria, and the exhanges that take place that allow that to happen.
It
was above my understanding, but I remember reading that selenium is
involved.I was hoping someone would recognize it and know where to
find
the original info. Doesn't turn up in a search of my saved emails, so it
must have been on a website.
Several people (some I think on this list and some on CS2) have posted
that
when they take CS or when they take a certain amount of CS orally, they
get
thrush. I don't, but ever since I read the first post about it, I've
wondered what could be happening, or what is different with the person,
the
diet, the CS, that could cause it. I have intestinal candida, take CS to
help with it, which it does, and have been taking it daily for about 8
months now, and have never gotten thrush. However, people who say they
have
gotten thrush and think it is a result of CS use are absolutely adamant
about the connection. Myself, I believe CS kills candida, so how it would
cause a thrush infection is more than I can figure. But I don't think
these people are lying, so something must be going on. What, though?

How can you get thrush, when CS kills it??
I`ve been on CS for 7 years straight now, and never had thrush or
anything
like it. (I did have it 24 years ago when nursing baby number 4. Before
I
  knew about CS.)
Also where did you hear that silver depletes selenium? That`s a new
one...

Re: CSSelenium depletion??

2003-04-09 Thread INGRID KROPP-OVERSTREET
Marshalee,

to me it would make sense that selenium would be depleted due to the use of CS.
if with the help of selenium it deposits more CS into body tissue then that
would mean more selenium is being used in addition to the selenium your body is
already processing. plus since bacteria likes to set up shop in weak ph
levels of body tissue then there would be more of a need for CS to be
distributed to those areas and with the help of selenium your body can deposit
more. just a thought.

snipp
Another researcher conclusively demonstrated that an excess amount in
selenium can increase the risk of argyria, as silver when combined
selenium
in the body was shown to deposit more silver into body tissues, when
compared with the same amounts of silver used in rats without excess
selenium supplementation.

Also where did you hear that silver depletes selenium? That`s a new
one...

Have you tried consuming large amounts of lacto-fermented foods (plant
and animal based) to improve your intestinal microflora instead of
 chasing candida with CS?

Re: CSSelenium??

2003-04-09 Thread Maja Hristozova
Thanks a lot Catherine
I guess just for sure we'll increase the selenium
intake while taking CS. Cystic Fibrosis patients
suffer by default from lack of selenium and they take
the supplements on a daily basis. So if CS bonds with
selenium we better take more selenium just incase. I
belive storing silver in the body tissues is not
good...
Thanks again,
Maia

 Dear Maia,
 From www.silvermedicine.org
The body utilizes selenium to help eliminate silver
from the body. Silver bonds with selenium ( see the
Roger Altman silver elimination study for an
example of how well the body CAN eliminate silver
 http://www.silvermedicine.org/altmanstudy.html ).
 When the body is depleted
of selenium, the amount of silver deposited into
tissues is drastically increased. This was
conclusively demonstrated by a researcher known as
Petering in the 1970's.
