TB Crashes Upon Opening URL's
Hello TBUL, TB is crashing on me whenever I try to launch a URL within my emails. The program becomes non-responsive. Does anyone have a solution for this? This is very puzzling and if someone knows the answer I would be forever in your debt to get this one straightened out. There's nothing worse than to sit there waiting for TB to process outgoing email. You don't mention what version of Word you are using and I guess that the lack of reports of such problems previously on the list means that the problem is specific to the configuration of your machine. Word is involved in the composing of Outlook mail, so there is a potential interaction between Word and email. I would have a look at the Email settings in Outlook - check what the default settings are for sending messages (and switch to text only as a test). It would also be worth what the default programs are for email related activities are (in Outlook 2007, look under Tools|Options|Other|Default programs. If TB is not handling all the email related activities then change it. The other thing that can sometimes cause strange application crashes is a graphic driver issue. It would be worth checking whether there are more up to date drivers available. The final thing, as others have mentioned, are firewall and anti-virus issues. Turning off these (one at a time and then both) may help to rule this out. Both are likely to have a hand in the sending of mail. I hope that you find a solution soon. This has become extremely annoying to say the least. And why TH does TB hesitate so long in sending mail? It acts as though it's on TH it's last leg. I am using Word 2000 and have no such issues. Does this happen with any Word file, or just particular ones? Any Does the file open OK if you save it first and then open it from either Word or Explorer? Yes, sometimes this happens from other folders and Explorer. I will try reinstalling Word to see if this solves that issue. On the sending of mail, do you have delayed sending enabled, but the alert dialog suppressed? I have immediate sending enables and not sure what you are referring to on the alert dialog suppresses. It is possible that subsidiary programmes may be slowing things down on the receiving side. No. With delayed sending is enabled, you can get a dialog come up telling you when the message will actually be sent. You can turn this dialog off. It was a possibility that this dialog might have been turned off and so there was an apparently a delay. Under delivery type I have immediate and I have a check mark in Combined Delivery (send and receive). This problem of very slow sending and receiving has nothing to do with my smtp server or network congestion with the server. I have tested all three of my email clients, TB, Barca 2, and Outlook and TB wins the prize for taking the longest (and I mean more than 1 minute longer) to send and receive email. This problem started with version 4.1. If anyone has any ideas other than what has already been discussed, I would love to hear them. I am running Avira AntiVir Premium for my antivirus and the antispam is AntiSpamSniper for TB. I don't know why this would have any affect on my sending and receiving of emails. I have used AntiSpamSniper for years with no problems... I even uninstalled it and uninstalled Avira and there was no change in receiving and sending of emails. The delay was the same. OK Tim, to find out if TB is really the culprit, and why, we need to repeat the comparative tests with all paramaters exactly the same with all three e-mail clients. I suggest therefore you try the download tests with all of the following in place: 1. Your anti virus programme turned off. 2. AntiSpamSniper and any other antispam programme turned off. 3. All message filtering turned off. 4. Any firewall programme turned off. To try to avoid any 'nasties' download first with your antvirus still operating, but 'leave messages on the server'. Then run your tests as quickly as possible thereafter with the antivirus turned off. If you will be kind enough to do as I suggest and let us all know the results we will then take it from there. Hard reset needed - TB crashes 1.52f
Hello BatPeople, I had the Bat v1.52f (business user licence) lock up my system completely three times today. My system is a Dell WinNT 4.0 Server SP6a running IIS 4.0 fully patched and Cold Fusion App. server 4.51. The lock up required a hard reset - CTRL-ALT-DEL (the three finger salute) didn't work and the mouse was frozen. I could repeat it by running the bat and then poking around with view, options and other tools. Auto retrieve of mail is on at one minute intervals. Using IMAP4 with an Exchange 5.5 server as mail host. Also using anonymous LDAP services offered from the same exchange server. No other apps were running except Windows NT Explorer and maybe IE.
