I've noticed for sometime that I have to really force my ignition
key for the starter to engage on my 69. So I'm thinking about changing
it out. Can anyone give me information on how to remove the ignition
switch? Also is there anything else that I should change for this
problem. Thanks
Just to clarify, the key is NOT your ignition switch. The ignition switch
is mounted down near the bottom of your steering column. The switch is
actuated when you turn the key by a rod that moves the switch. The rod
could be binding or the switch slide mechanism could be dirty, or it could

I think I fixed the Blazer.
I checked the wiring on the starter and everything appears to be ok. To
rule out the alternator, I disconnected all the wires from it, started the
engine and then turned the key off with no luck, the engine kept running. So
now, with my trusty $5 DMM in hand I

IIRC the factory HEI setup uses a single wire from the
solenoid's S terminal to the distributor instead of
individual wires from the S and R terminals. To me
